** I stripped the "List of" from the articles that had it in the names (List of abilities→Abilities), but not every article needed to be stripped (Memorable quotes→Memorable quotes). Adding is simple and it helps us keep control, so I'm personally in favor of keeping it manual. The only time I really prefer automaticity is in situations like those horrible character portals, where you have to update ten portals just to make one change. Ugh. I'd personally rather just leave this template as it is. -- 00:59, 29 February 2008 (EST)

*** That's fine. I was just looking at the code and thought I'd bring it up for consideration.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:05, 29 February 2008 (EST)
**** I also want to stress that I don't think we need to automate navbars in most cases. Just because we can doesn't mean we should, and in some cases there's not a 100% parity between categories, portals, and navbars, nor should we always aim for there to be. Portals tend to get split when they become lengthy; categories usually don't. Portals are always hierarchical; categories weave and intertwine as needed. Many articles fall into several categories; few, if any, belong in multiple portals.--Hardvice (talk) 04:18, 29 February 2008 (EST)
***** Thanks for that clarification, Hardvice. I think what you said fits with something I did yesterday--Skyhawk was listed in Portal:Vehicles and Portal:Weapons. Surely it's both, but I didn't think it needed to be in both portals. However, I put it in both :Category:Vehicles and :Category:Weapons. -- 09:10, 29 February 2008 (EST)

Autocat?

 • I asked a similar question on Template:Relatedarticles. Is it okay to modify this template such that it auto-categorize pages using it to Category:Lists?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:36, 29 February 2008 (EST)
