Claire and Zach claim to be researching manatees to explain their close association. | |
First reference: | The Fix |
Manatees are endangered aquatic mammals native to the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico, the Amazon Basin, and West Africa.
About
The Fix
In order to explain why they are spending so much time together, Claire and Zach tell her father they are working together on a research paper about manatees for their biology class.
Distractions
Claire and Zach use the excuse that they are going to the aquarium in Lubbock, TX, to study manatees for their research paper as cover for their trip to visit her biological mother in Kermit, TX. Sandra is convinced to let the kids skip school when Claire calls the manatee "a very noble creature".
