About
Graphic Novel:How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?, Part 1
In a cabin in the desert, Hana shows Ted blueprints for the needle.
Graphic Novel:How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?, Part 2
Ted travels to Billings, MT, and forces his way into the Pharmatech Industrial Building. Inside a room stockpiled with the weapon, Ted is confronted by a Pharmatech scientist who wields one at him. Ted takes control and demands information about the hypo gun. The scientist tells Ted that the gun is used to inject wild animals with a radioactive isotope that allows them to be tracked. Ted, infuriated, burns down the building.
Unexpected
Hana shows Ted blueprints for the needle. Later, the two of them meet in a cemetery with Matt Parkman and show the device to him, explaining what it does.
Graphic Novel:It Takes a Village, Part 1
At a medical facility, somebody from the Company prepares a pneumatic syringe to use on Matt.
Graphic Novel:Special
During West's bag and tag at Primatech Paper Co., Mr. Bennet orders that the pneumatic needle is administered with care.

Graphic Novel:From the Files of Primatech, Part 6
In 1988, Angela Petrelli takes a pneumatic syringe out of a box labeled "Д.ф.Ы.З. D.F.Y.Z." She tells Claude that it is a tracking device, to be used to make operations run more smoothly. As she injects Claude, she tells him that he is the perfect test subject because he can become invisible. The accompanying Primatech file states that the prototype of the pneumatic needle tracking gun was perfected by research and development scientists. The file also asserts that "high ranking officials" of the Company feel that the gun is "the key piece of technology within the Company".
Heroes Evolutions
- On February 15, 2007, Hana posted two images of the syringe on her website: front, back, and side views, and an assembly diagram of the syringe.
- On March 14, 2008, a mystery person sent a message with a link to a 360-degree view of the needle, available for download.
- On the main page of pinehearstresearch.com, a video explains about the Pinehearst company. Included on the video is a small image of the pneumatic syringe.
- On April 20, 2010, Hiro posted several Primatech files from 1979 on his blog, A Hero's Quest. One document is a memo from Angela Petrelli to "Alpha" which is an update on the "injectable tracking system for subjects" that the Company was working on. Another file lists requirements needed for the "injection delivery system". Another file on the blog is a diagram of an early design for the pneumatic syringe.
Notes
- The pneumatic syringe has also been called a "hypo gun", a "needle", and a "tracking gun".
- Though Ted Sprague learns from the Pharmatech scientist that the pneumatic syringe is used to track animals, he still believes that his radioactive ability has been foisted upon him, ultimately causing his wife's death.
