Oscar sits down and has breakfast with his wife and son. He recalls that Elena told him that he is stubborn for keeping Gutierrez and Sons open despite its bad clientèle. That night, Elena catches Oscar leaving and asks him where he's going. Oscar replies that he has work to finish, but Elena tells him that he can't fix everything.

When Oscar is a teenager, his father encourages him to ask Elena out to prom.
Elena attends mass at St. Francis with her son. She expresses her disapproval at Oscar when he arrives late and tells him to apologize to Father Mauricio, since it is his sermon he was late for. Later, she has dinner with her family at their home.
