JG Roshell, of Comicraft, is a comic book letterer.

About

JG Roshell has lettered a number of graphic novels, most notably numerous issues of Astro City. Some of his other work can be seen in KISS: Psycho Circus, Doctor Strange: The Flight of Bones, The Sentry, Wolverine: Origin, Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's Hulk: Gray, Danger Girl, Southland Tales, and Elephantmen.

In addition to lettering, JG has also created hundreds of fonts and typefaces. He is considered a pioneer in the use of the computer to letter comics. Additionally, he designs logos, trade paperback/hardcover collections (including the Heroes graphic novel collection), and creates and maintains the Active Images Network of websites.

Trivia

  • Comicraft was brought on to do Heroes work because John Roshell of Comicraft knows two producers: Jeph Loeb is a professional client, and Jesse Alexander is a personal friend. In fact, Jeph and Jesse argued over whose "guy" would be better for the job, until they realized that they were talking about the same guy. [1]
  • JG helped create 9thwonders.com.
  • In 2008, JG was nominated for an Eisner Award for his work on the Heroes graphic novel collection.
