In the "explosion future", René (better known as The Haitian) is an agent of Homeland Security who uses his power to help capture renegade evolved humans.
Character History
Five Years Gone
The Haitian helps and accompanies Matt Parkman on a raid to capture Hiro Nakamura at Isaac Mendez's apartment. They capture Hiro Nakamura, but he is not the man they thought he was. The Haitian remains with Hiro at holding facility to keep him from escaping with his power. When the President gives the order for Mohinder Suresh to execute Hiro, the Haitian assists, but Mohinder turns the syringe against the Haitian at the last second, killing him instead.
Evolved Human Abilities
René has the power to manipulate people's minds, interfering with the use of special powers and selectively deleting memories.
René has shown the ability to discriminate between targets in the blocking of others' powers. For example, he blocked Hiro's powers of time manipulation, but not Matt Parkman's telepathy. He is also able to cover the entire top floor of the Homeland Security building with his power blocking.
Trivia
- Matt Parkman refers to René as "Jim" (Five Years Gone). This is most likely an error--the Haitian is portrayed by Jimmy Jean-Louis.
- René wears a DHS badge that says "Visitor 27". In Godsend, D.L.'s prison visitor's badge also says "Visitor 27".
