Talk:Ando Masahashi
Is there any proof of Ando being Huggersz69 other than in the original pilot? If not, then it doesn't necessarily apply.
- Niki says it in Hiros after Ando shows up at her house and is being detained by the police. (Admin 11:59, 15 January 2007 (EST))
- You're right. I missed that line before. But I just rechecked, and sure enough.
Ando's Clothes
- Has anyone noticed that Ando always wears a Members Only jacket, although its a different colour in every episode. Not sure if this means anything but its a little strange.
- I like that all the characters have their own "look". It keeps me in the comic book realm. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:46, 4 March 2007 (EST)
Ando's age
- His nick Hugersz69 could be an idication of age. Most people put their birth year as the final digits of their user names. That would make Ando about 37 years old. -- Cuardin 04:59, 4 February 2007 (EST)
- Or, given the site he's using it on, it could be ... ah ... something else.--Hardvice (talk) 05:05, 4 February 2007 (EST)
- Very cute. -- Cuardin 05:10, 4 February 2007 (EST)
- Actually, I genuinely assumed that was what he was referring to. He certainly doesn't look 37.--Hardvice (talk) 05:19, 4 February 2007 (EST)
- I've always thought the same. I really just thought it was a good, cheap joke. — MindInTheGutter (talk) 15:28, 4 February 2007 (EST)

Main Character
Ando should be part of the main cast. He is in more episodes then most of the main cast including Simone, Jessica, Niki, D.L. Micah, and Mohidner. --Jason Garrick 19:11, 28 February 2007
- I would agree, however the classificiation of main character vs supporting character is up to those in charge of the show. They classify him as a supporting character so we need to. As Hardvice once said, "This is pretty much the only category that isn't completely arbitrary." (Admin 19:37, 28 February 2007 (EST))
- More than anything, it's attached to (1) how much money you get per episode, and (2) where your name appears in the credits. Personally, I'd take Ando over Micah / Niki any day, but that's how he signed his contract. --Orne 19:48, 28 February 2007 (EST)
- James Kyson Lee's getting the better end of it. He's big now that he's been in this show. This last one was the only episode he wasn't in, and he's adds comedic (but meaningful) support to the show.--Baldbobbo 20:24, 28 February 2007 (EST)
- He's actually a regular now, so should Ando be moved to a main character? --Conspiracy Unit 23:31, 29 September 2007 (EDT)
- He's in the main cast for Season Two already.--Hardvice (talk) 23:56, 29 September 2007 (EDT)

Power
I know that it is VERY unlikely, but it would be cool if Ando turned up to have a power of some kind. It would just make me feel better for the guy who followed Hiro around and watched him use his powers while Ando did nothing... That said, what should his power be? Dean Harper 22:37, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- I kinda think it makes the character even stronger that he doesn't have a power. I mean, he survived an attack by Sylar, made it through a very dark future, and dodged Hope's bullet, and even survived some blatant Nissan product placement. :) Check what James Kyson Lee has to say about being a mortal on Heroes in this interview. (He also answers your question about what his power should be.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:03, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
Where did he get the red bolts from, and why did he zap Hiro
- He could of gotten it from the ability induction serum that Mohinder invented, hence the formula could be used to cause a catastrophic power pandemic? And he zapped Hiro for "betraying" him. - Arkillion
Ando's name
- You state that "Ando" is a common family name in Japan. If that is true, it is most likely that Ando is his last name in fact. That Hiro calls him "Ando-kun" (I don't recall another character that knows Ando and calls his name) is VERY common in Japan, I mean, calling somebody by his last name is the regular, only very close friends, lovers or relatives call somebody by his first name. Between males is very common to call others 'lastname'-kun, but if Ando is comfortable calling Hiro by his name, I don't know why Hiro does the same... Maybe because "Ando" is shorter than Masahashi.
So, as you know (I think), japanese names start with the family name, so they would be Nakamura Hiro and Ando Masahashi. Check out http://www.makikoitoh.com/journal/the_numerous_japanese_problems_in_heroes for another guy (?) that thinks the same, altough I don't know him.
- Ando is his first name, not his family name. He was saying it's a very common name because he brings these centuries-old scrolls addressed to him, and tries to hide the fact that they're written by his time-traveling friend. Masahashi is his family name.--Bob (talk) 05:11, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Additionally, they usually (but not always) reverse the names in the spoken Japanese to match the Japanese custom. I don't speak Japanese, but I've caught them saying "Masahashi Ando" and "Nakamura Hiro" more than once.--Hardvice (talk) 05:19, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Masahashi cannot be a family name in Japanese, and Ando cannot be a given name. I have lived in Japan for 10 years and I can tell you that this is impossible. This error should be edited. It is a bit strange that Hiro refers to Ando by family name but Ando refers to Hiro by given name--normally they would do it the same way. At work and with coworkers they might be more likely to use family names (Nakamura-kun and Ando-kun), whereas if they had a non-work-related friendship they would be more likely to use given names (Hiro-kun and perhaps a shortened "Masa-kun").
- Remember that Heroes targets mostly American audiences. It is excusable if there were error in naming Japanese characters. Chrisyu357 02:16, 24 September 2008 (EDT)
- to expand, I think it's prety clear that TPTB intended for his given name to be Ando, not Masahashi, as he is refferenced to as "Ando" --SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:51, 24 September 2008 (EDT)

Don't Look Back
Shouldn't Ando's character history for Don't Look Back actually be a part of an article called "Ando Masahashi (explosion future)"? I mean, that Ando exists in a future that no longer exists. Just a thought. --DocM 14:02, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
- Theoretically, yes. I think it would be a bit useless to create this article, but I'm not opposed to it.--Referos 16:25, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
- I don't see any point. There's no fundamental difference between that Ando and the one from five weeks prior. When we're talking about the explosion future, we're generally talking about the future seen in Five Years Gone, which is really, well, five years in the future. We're not talking about five weeks into the future. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:28, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
Infobox problem?
- Why isn't his date of death showing up, even though it's specified in the edit? Can anyone else see it in his infobox? Stevehim 10:32, 14 October 2008 (EDT)
