Character History
Odessa
Carlos tells Father Mauricio that his grandfather used to "run around in a Luchador costume", and that he wants to be known for something else.
Graphic Novel:Vengeance, Part 1
In Los Angeles in 1994, Mr. Gutierrez takes his sons Oscar and Carlos to a wrestling match featuring El Vengador and a fire-masked wrestler. Vengador knees his opponent in the stomach, but is punched back. Vengador then jump-kicks the fire-masked wrestler, a move that Oscar remembers and uses himself many years later. In another match against a devil-masked wrestler and a skull-masked wrestler, El Vengador allows the devil-masked wrestler to come up behind him, so that he can throw the devil-masked wrestler over his shoulder and into his other opponent. El Vengador winks at Oscar and Carlos, and charges back into the fight.
After the match, El Vengador has his fists bandaged and takes a swig from a bottle. Carlos approaches him and asks for an autograph. Vengador happily obliges.
Graphic Novel:Vengeance, Part 2
In Los Angeles in 1994, El Vengador goes in the ring once again to fight a cat-masked wrestler, a chicken-masked wrestler and El Diablo. He hangs back in the first rounds, opting to take a strategic approach instead of letting his fists do the thinking. He lasts until the final round, where it is just him and El Diablo left. El Vengador takes a few hits and waits for El Diablo to gloat. When he does, El Vengador strikes him, picks him up and throws him on the floor, winning the match.
Later, Luis is approached by a group of criminals who try to bribe him to lose a match, but he rejects their offer. When his grandchildren ask him what the men wanted, Luis tells them that they were "just some kids with the wrong idea" about him.
Graphic Novel:Vengeance, Part 3
Angered that the wrestler El Vengador will not accept their bribes, a group of criminals beat up Mr. Gutierrez to send Luis a message. When Oscar returns home with his injured father, Luis asks them what happened. Mr. Gutierrez tells Luis that he knows what's happened, and to leave his family out of the trouble he gets into.

Send in the Clones
Carlos tells Farah Nazan the story of Luis as El Vengador when explaining his El Vengador suit to her at Sunstone Manor. Carlos tells Farah that he finally understands why Luis allowed his legs to get broken rather than throwing the match: its worth it to get your legs broken to stand up for what you believe in.
