Interview:Roberto Sanchez
On August 10, 2008, Skywalkerrbf conducted an interview with Roberto Sanchez, who played a Costa Verde officer in The Line.
Skywalkerrbf: Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still watch it now?
No, strangely enough I don't watch too much TV. I have been able to catch it a couple of times and I like it. I grew up reading comics (mainly Avengers) so I totally get it.
Do you have a favourite character or episode?
Hiro, I would love the ability to travel through time.
If you could have any power, then what would it be?
The ability to read minds. Imagine the pros and cons of having that ability.
Did you enjoy working on Heroes? Was it different from any other jobs you have had?
Any time that I get to do what I love (acting), it's always enjoyable.
What was it like to work with Hayden Panettiere?
The entire cast and crew of Heroes were great. I really loved working with Jeannot Szwarc (Director). I've had the pleasure of working with him a couple of times (on Heroes and Raising the bar).
Do you have any stories from the Heroes set? Was it much different than being on the set of other shows that you have been on?
Not really, the only thing a bit different was that it was a late shoot, we didn't start shooting till around 10 or 11 pm. And we were done around 3 am.
Did you have any lines which were cut from the final episode?
Not that I can recall.
Have you ever done any police work outside of the Navy? If so, was that a very different experience?
After leaving the Navy I worked security related jobs while pursuing modelling work. The last job that I had before landing my role in 2 Fast 2 Furious was as an armed patrol officer on the Metro Rail system in Miami.
How hard was it to be in the European Pro Basketball League while still being in the Navy? Are you involved in any basketball-related activities currently?
Well, we would go to Europe every year for about six months at a time. I was fortunate to play in several of the semi-pro leagues there. Even back then (late 80's) you could already see the Europeans making great strides in the sport. I still play several times a week.
Have you assisted many other professional actors or models as a personal trainer? If so, can you name anyone you trained?
As a personal trainer, most of the clients I've had are not in the industry. I have been an acting coach for several years, working mainly with beginners, with the exception of Aria Wallace (Roxy Hunter, The Perfect Man).
Are you still involved in modelling?
Not really.
Do you prefer acting over modelling, or vice versa?
Hands down ... Acting.
