About
Sergio got his start in movies working on the Croatia set of Sophie's Choice (made in 1982). Sergio was Steven Spielberg's first assistant director, Sergio has played a central role in most of his films, especially the more recent ones: Schindler's List, The Lost World–Jurassic Park, Amistad, Saving Private Ryan, A.I., Minority Report, and Catch Me If You Can.
Additionally, Sergio has also worked as first assistant director on films such as Independence Day, Inspector Gadget and How to Make an American Quilt.
In 1999 Sergio also wrote, produced, and directed a 40-minute dramatic short entitled An Incident.
Besides his film and mini-series work, Sergio has worked in television directing several episodes of Battlestar Galactica, two episodes of Saving Grace, two episodes of Prison Break, and an episode each for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Traveler.

- Sergio has won three Directors Guild of America awards for "Outstanding Directorial Achievement". He won for the mini-series War and Remembrance in 1990, and for films Schindler's List in 1994 and Saving Private Ryan in 1999.
