Talk:Kensei sword
Tim Kring interview
- The note about Tim Kring's interview could really use a citation if anyone has it. --Fcphantom 21:36, 6 December 2006 (EST)
- could someone confirm this quote? Can't remeber exactly what he said:
"It's a fake! I'll go give it back"

The ARG pic
I'm not sure if extra show information such as Heroes 360 can be added here, but I added the sword pict from the linderman casino website. Delete it if necessary! --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 05:18, 26 February 2007 (EST)
- This is fine to include on the Heroes360 stuff. If it's on a page that is identified as Heroes360 (such as corinthianlasvegas.com), then it can be added at will. If it's on a main page (such as Hiro's sword), then it should somehow note where it comes from (and generally doesn't belong in the episodic history). — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:13, 26 February 2007 (EST)
Concentration Image
Have we got a picture of Hiro with his face all scrunched up? I was thinking we might want to do a "before/after" thing regarding his use of the sword as a focus for his powers. --Ted C 09:29, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- How about these? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:53, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- Good stuff, and put to use. --Ted C 15:39, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- Glad you like them! They make good additions to the examples of space-time manipulation, too. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:42, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- Good stuff, and put to use. --Ted C 15:39, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- Y'know, this just furthers my belief that the sword is just a placebo.--Hardvice (talk) 14:06, 9 March 2007 (EST)
- I'm not so sure these pics should be on this page. Only the serene one has anything to do with the sword directly. And it's really speculation to say how much effort he's using. I would simply take them out of the gallery and put them as image links in the notes. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:42, 9 March 2007 (EST)
Think we should rename this page?
Or Redirect it? The sword is called the "Kensei"... and I know that's also the name of the guy who originally wielded it, but if you look it up, Kensei is a type of sword, and the guy in last nights episode called it the Kensei himself. --Riddler 14:17, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
- I think just a redirect would be sufficient. Most people probably still think of it as Hiro's sword. --Ted C 14:33, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
- I think he was calling it the "Kensei sword" the same way people would call a painting by Renoir "the Renoir".--Hardvice (talk) 15:06, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
still "Hiro's Sword"?
- Do we leave it as "Hiro's Sword" because he had possession of it last? Kensei "currently" has possession of it, even if "currently" is 329 years ago. Linderman had possession for a lot longer before Hiro stole it. Technically, the sword belongs to the Linderman Estate and is stolen property in the year 2007. Unless someone can show me where Linderman told Hiro he could keep it... This would be much easier if the sword had a name, like Excalibur.
Perhaps the "Godsend Sword"?I'm seeing a lot more support in Season 2 for calling this "Kensei's Sword."--NissanVersaDootDoot 11:47, 5 October 2007 (EDT) - I don't care one way or another (though I wouldn't call it "Godsend Sword" since it's never really been called that anywhere). -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:12, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- Good point. Still like "Kensei's Sword," though I now realize that the title "Hiro's Sword" came about to set it apart from Ando's sword.
- I just find it confusing to add the past history (17th century events) to the end of an article called "Hiro's Sword." After Hiro returns to the 21st Century, the events occurring in the beginning of Season Two will become a section on the sword's 17th Century past in the middle of its 21st Century history. I don't know if the correct answer is to rename the page and put the story in chronological order, broken by sections, or if we should make the events surrounding the sword, as seen in the 16th Century, a separate sub-division, but I do think we should articulate it more clearly so that someone reading the history of the sword during the middle of Season Four can follow both the history and the storyline clearly. Am I making any sense? I don't feel like I'm making sense. --NissanVersaDootDoot 14:34, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- Although it's essentially the same sword, I think that perhaps we should have this article chronicle the sword while in Hiro or Future Hiro's possession, while another article, Kensei's sword, chronicles it when it is owned by Kensei and then kept by the Linderman Group (although technically owned by Linderman, I'd say it's collected by Linderman, possessed by Kensei, making it Kensei's sword). This would prevent some confusion, and have the see also links.--Bob 14:41, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- Kind of like the double articles we have for Hiro and Future Hiro? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:25, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- I don't care much for the idea of two separate articles because it makes it seem like two separate objects. I mean, Hiro and Future Hiro kind of are separate people, in at least that the two of them co-existed in the Dark Future. And other instances where we've had two articles for the same thing all occur when we can't confirm they're the same thing (Thompson and the Company Leader, Yaeko and the Princess, Linderman and Austin, etc.)--and when we do confirm they are, we've always consolidated. That said, I don't have a strong preference for "Takezo Kensei's sword" or "Hiro's sword", but I'd avoid "Linderman's sword"--while he chronologically held it longer than Hiro, and is arguably the legal owner, it first appeared with F_Hiro, and has spent a good deal more screen time in Hiro's possession than in Linderman's. Still, I think the best choice might be Kensei's sword (with Hiro's sword as a redirect), since he was chronologically the first person we see with it and is akin to the "original owner", and is also the person most (historically) associated with it. Even Linderman's archive calls it the Kensei sword.--Hardvice (talk) 15:56, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- I definitely agree with calling it something like "Kensei sword". They refer to it pretty frequently (albeit perhaps not yet within the show itself) as "the Kensei." (Admin 16:00, 5 October 2007 (EDT))
- That, and I don't think Hiro ever called it his sword. In fact, he's referred to it often as Kensei's sword. So did Linderman. That's probably the best name for it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:18, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
- Actually, in FML, Hiro and Kensei both called it their own sword when Yaeko took it away to go save her father. Maybe once we know more about the swordmaker, we can come up with a more accurate name for the sword. But I'm "down" with calling it the Kensei sword.--Bob 16:22, 5 October 2007 (EDT)

Is tis a decent replica?
I'm looking to buy one and that's the only one I can find. Is the symbol supposed to be upside down AND reversed?--Riddler 22:28, 23 November 2007 (EST)
19 different sections?!
Almost every heroeswiki article is like this, for an item or person it has a section for each episode with about 5 words for each episode underneath it. Personally I think it looks a bit crap, wouldn't it be easier to split the occurrences of the sword into Season 1 and Season 2, with each sentence containing a note at the end showing which episode it is from? i.e. Hiro gets the sword (episode name) friskymuffin 15:49, 28 May 2008 (GMT)
- I didn't decide on the standard layout of the site, but I really like it. It's very easy for me to find information, and it ensures that every appearance or mention of the subject is recorded rather than getting lost in a narrative. However, for some of the main characters (see Peter, for instance), we did take all the Season One history and move it to another article, then summarize the season on the character's main page. True, it does get a bit cumbersome by the end of 23 episodes, but it's not difficult to navigate, and it is certainly thorough! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:37, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
Where's the sword now?
It's been quite a while since we saw Hiro's sword in the present day. Does anyone know where exactly it is currently? Its absence during Volume 4 can be explained by him being captured when he didn't have it in his possession, but it was also missing in Volume 3, correct? I don't remember seeing it in Villians with the exception of Angela's dreams. It's not really important, it just seems to me to be a rather integral part of the character. I'd hate for the writers to suddenly forget about it (they way they did with Charlie, Yaeko, Caitlin, etc...). Anybody know the answer to this? Swm 09:30, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
