Graphic Novel Nosebleed Examples?

I sure can't think of any, but would be surprised if there aren't any; with 117 GNs out there. Can anyone else think of any nosebleed examples I've overlooked? !!!

The closest things of a nosebleed I can remember are Hana coughing blood when the virus attacked her and perhaps a Maya victim oozing black blood, though I'm not sure it was from the nose. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:50, 23 December 2008 (EST)
  • Yeah I found the Hana one too, but it wasn't a backload from her using her ability, but just a result of space blowing up her insides. I also thought Rachel would be one, until I re-reviewed the webisode, and saw that she had a nosebleed "before" she teleported. The only other one I could find that might fit is Matt's death from being overloaded with too much data; but in his picture, he is bleeding from the ear, not the nose. However, since it is a case of power-overload, perhaps it could be shown anyway, as a variation. I'll put it up, and hope some others can be remembered. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 12/23/2008 16:26 (EST)
    • I think it's a pretty good list. I've been collecting a list of nosebleeds on my to do list for awhile now, and it looks like you've got all the examples I've thought of. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:15, 23 December 2008 (EST)

Power nosebleeds

Are we only including nosebleeds that came about as a result of power overloads in this page? No nosebleeds from fights or anything like that? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 18:17, 23 December 2008 (EST)

  • Yeah the intent of this thread is just to show where a power-overload spawned a bleeding. I suppose because of Matt Neuenberg's ear-bleeding; we could have called it powerbleed, but in most cases the heroes writers seem to usually show this as a nosebleed; so that's why I went that direction with the name. I know there are some nosebleeds as a result of fistfighting, etc....but those really aren't significant as worthwhile reference sources IMO...no different than when people get punched in the jaw. If you guys think we should change the name to powerbleed, or something similar, I'd be fine with that too. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 12/23/2008 18:27 (EST)
    • I don't think we need to do that. Matt's case was really the only instance that an overload resulted in a bleeding ear... I suppose we can just make a note of that. Or we could just make a general page for power overloading to include Peter losing control of his abilities? And Meredith too? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 18:34, 23 December 2008 (EST)
      • The nosebleed seems to be a specific heroes re-occurance, so let's keep it its own page. I put a comment about Matt's ear as it is. If we make a Power overload page later for things like Meredith and Peter; we can add a see-also for this page.--HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 12/23/2008 18:36 (EST)
        • I agree. I think the page should focus only "unusual" nosebleeds. The lead sentence right now says it very well: "A nosebleed often occurs when evolved humans strain to use their abilities beyond their normal limits." I think the name is fine, and the page should only focus on nosebleeds, not on power overloading. That's a pretty subjective idea. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:15, 23 December 2008 (EST)

Alternate Ending

The season 2 alternate ending from the DVD displays two more nosebleeds (one drawn via storyboards, one actual one). Should these be noted in a notes section? --NovaX81 17:58, 7 January 2009 (EST)

  • Are you talking about Peter's nosebleed when he's opening the vault? That's already on the page (it was also in the episode). Unaired or deleted nosebleeds can be mentioned in the Notes section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:00, 7 January 2009 (EST)
  • Matt's nose bleeds when he commands everyone in the station to follow Nathan's orders. That goes in notes.--Citizen 22:04, 7 January 2009 (EST)
  • If you have a good screencap, show it in the gallery being sure to mention it is an unaided pic.--HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 01/8/2009 08:01 (EST)

Matt Neuenberg

Matt Neuenberg's nose never bled, as far as we know. His inclusion on this page doesn't quite make sense. It's debatable whether or not he was even using his power when the Company clamped that thing on his mind. His brain bleeding through his ear also stands out because it is the only example of death on the page. I don't think Matt needs to be on a page about nosebleeds. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:45, 12 January 2009 (EST)

  • It's explained clearly in the about section and the gallery that Matt's ear bleed not nose; but the GN is clear that it was ability overload; because he was using his ability to download the company computer. Maybe this page is misnamed, and should be called 'power bleed' or something not so specific to noses; it's just that the show tends to show power-overload via (but not always) with a nosebleed. To exclude Matt, would be to exclude a good example of the effect of the overload that causes the bleed. As far as Hana, if her power overloading caused her bleeding, it should be added too, and we should reconsider changing the name so it covers all bleeding caused by power overload regardless of where the blood squirts out from. IMO. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 01/12/2009 19:14 (EST)
    • The graphic novel is not all that clear that it was an ability overload. The doctor says, "His body is breaking down due to the pressure of the upload." That's debatable whether it's because of his power or not. I personally think it is, but that's just my opinion. R.D. Hall even talks about basing the idea on mind uploading, which is not necessarily related to supernatural powers. I'm not saying it is or isn't an example, I'm saying that it's debatable. With the information we have, it can probably go in the notes. I don't think we need to change the name of the article, though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:55, 12 January 2009 (EST)

Hana

Does Hana qualifies in this? I'm not sure she was actually using her ability, but it certainly is the cause of the bleed, since the virus was only able to attack her because of her power. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 19:08, 12 January 2009 (EST)

  • It's a tough one. She bleeds from her eyes and from her mouth as well as her nose, so it doesn't really fit in with the other examples here. It's also not a case of straining to use her power, as every other example here is. The bleeding was ultimately caused by the virus, not her power. Yes, she got the virus by using her power, but straining to use her power did not directly cause the bleeding, as it did in every other case. I don't think we should include it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:58, 12 January 2009 (EST)

HRG

He got a nosebleed in Cold Wars when he attempted to resist Matt's telepathy. Should it be mentioned? -- Altes 13:48, 1 May 2009 (EDT)

  • Good catch, but no. This page is focusing on nosebleeds generated when specials overload their abilities. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/1/2009 17:49 (EST)
    • Angela resisted Matt's commands in Cautionary Tales without using her ability and got a nosebleed. -- Altes 09:22, 6 May 2009 (EDT)
      • Your rewording of the description to include non-specials resisting the abilities of specials makes this fit well. Good job. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/11/2009 12:26 (EST)
