Merged talk from the old current episode checklist

I like what you were after with this, Ryan. I wonder if there's any way to make it work?--Hardvice (talk) 13:23, 26 October 2007 (EDT)

  • Howabout this: instead of updating this page manually, we add a template, template:currentep. We can use that all over the place to print the name of the current episode, including here, where we redirect to "[[Episode talk:{{currentep}}]]". It would be just as much maintenance as this redirect is now, but we could use it in a lot more places--including automating Current events.--Hardvice (talk) 13:27, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
  • Ok, I implemented this on the episode side. GNs should work the same way. Now if we really wanted to get devious, we could use this to automate updating AOTW and GNOW, too.--Hardvice (talk) 13:34, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
    • We shouldn't use it to update AOTW and GNOW, since those templates need to remain the same until the next episode/graphic novel airs/is released. For example, Hardvice just updated the Currentep to The Line early since the checklist for Fight or Flight was finished. The difference is that Template:Currentep is where we are at in documenting the show. That is not necessarily where the show actually is in terms of airing.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:42, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
      • Actually, I updated it to The Line to see if the redirects would update automatically. They don't, but we don't really need the redirects anymore anyway. There's no reason to update template:currentep or template:currentgn until the episode or GN is released. In fact, doing so ruins the whole point of the template, which lets us print the name of the most recent episode or GN anywhere, not just in the checklists.--Hardvice (talk) 14:06, 26 October 2007 (EDT)

Graphic Novels too?
