Template talk:Nav
I think it would be so much easier to navigate through the episodes if this bar had more than just the last and next episodes. That info is already prominently featured in the infobox. I think this box should, at the least, have a small link to each episode, probably under the title of the current episode. Any thoughts on this? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:19, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- I kind of like it the way it is, because once you've read through the article, you have a means of navigating to the next article without having to scroll to the very top. That being said, all the Character nav templates are lists of characters, so I can also see that we should include a list of episodes that belong to the Season specified. I'll see if I can whip something up. --Orne 09:29, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- I agree with Orne: this is less repetitive since the episode articles are so gosh-darn long. I think a list-of-episodes navbar would be great for now, and obnoxious about fifteen episodes from now, but it could still work. Ideally, if we made it use a "season" variable, and then had it display links for all episodes in the current season, and just links to other seasons (or next and previous seasons), it shouldn't end up too huge. Still, 23 episodes is going to make for a pretty big bar, no matter how small we make the links.--Hardvice (talk) 11:15, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- I don't mind keeping the "previous" and "last" nav buttons - you're right, they're good at the bottom as well as the top. And no, I definitely don't think we should include 100 episode titles when we're a few years in - season-by-season is fine. You make a good point, Hardvice - the names are long and it can get bulky (see template:GN). But how about a shortened version, like "Episode: 1 · 2 · 3 · etc."? It could go right under the previous/next links, in a separate little table. ... But if I'm the only one that feels this way, then I'm fine keeping it. I can navigate the site pretty well, I'm just thinking of visitors. Or maybe overthinking? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:35, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- Oh, I see you've already made some changes, Orne. Moot conversation, then. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:39, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- What's funny is Orne had already made almost the exact changes I was thinking of (only with much nicer formatting than I'd have done). GMTA. I don't think 23 episodes will be truly unruly; it's just something we need to watch.--Hardvice (talk) 13:42, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- Yeah, I think we all talk this stuff to death, I don't think there'll be a problem with keeping an eye on it... I just don't know what the Georgia Music Teachers Association has to do with anything. :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:26, 29 January 2007 (EST)

Revamp from Revamp
Personally, I thought the 'revamped' template looked half-assed. I remade it to remove all the frivolous things such as "See also". I also removed the "Previous" and "next", because if all the episodes are listed in order, then the person can visually see the previous and next episodes. ---- 18:34, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- Unfortunately, you also took out the mechanism for making it change from season to season, which was kind of the point. Also, the bottom rounded corners are gone (which you can't see on IE, but it looks awful on Firefox).--Hardvice (talk) 18:53, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- Also, next and previous will be pretty important on episode 201, when the previous episode isn't on the bar.--Hardvice (talk) 19:04, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- I agree. It may seem redundant, but I do like the previous and next links. They need to stay. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:22, 29 January 2007 (EST)
- Ouch. When season 2, we'll cross that bridge. I'll work on the rounded edges, and such. ----

I'm not sure we should include future episodes on the nav bar. We don't include them on Portal:Episodes or Season One. I'm just afraid of names changing (it's already happened once) or possibly giving out spoilers. But mostly I want to be consistent. Does anybody else have an opinion on this? (In any case, "Run" needs to be changed to "Run!") — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:22, 3 February 2007 (EST)
- I commented them out. Technically, it's spoiler info on a non-spoiler page. Same as new actors on the navbars. Help:Theories and Spoilers says not to add info from unaired episodes to navigational elements.--Hardvice (talk) 14:51, 3 February 2007 (EST)
Volumes
Is there a way we can also add a column for the name of the volume and the episodes that are contained within that volume? --Pinkkeith 12:55, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
- Season one only contained one volume. Assuming that it actually pans out that Season Two contains more than one volume, the simplest option would be to do them like graphic novel series--just put the name of the volume in-line with the episodes and denote that it's a volume with different formatting, like this:
Volume Two: Generations: Four Months Later • Lizards • Kindred • The Kindness of Strangers Volume Three: Attack of the Circus Clowns: Uluru's Girlfriend • An Inconvenient Tooth • Sylar's Cholesterol |
