The year was 1999 when Avery was wandering aimlessly through New York he was jumped by two people in suits whom he assumed were grabbed him at the same time oddly enough one of them had a very calming aura. They shoved him into a van and drove off. When the van stopped The man and the woman grabbed him and shoved him into the back of a building. When Avery woke up after 2 days he was brought to a person called John Evans told him that he had a very rare gift and that he and the company he works at need people like him to join in the company. John told Avery about all that the company does like rounding up dangerous specials so they can not be a harm to them selfs or others at first Avery was shocked at the fact that there were others like him. But once his head cleared up he felt it was his duty that he should help them and accepted Johns offer. Avery's first partner Connor Rossiter died on their first assignment with a pyrokinetic named Mark Gompertz. Avery brought Mark to the company after Mark realised that his flames were ineffective against him as the wounds from the flames healed up. But Avery was quick and strong so he captured him easily. since Connor was dead Avery needed a new partner and the only person available was John Evans. they became friends after that.
Whenever John was not available Avery used to work with another special Laurence Gordon - Ability - Atomic transmutation - Strictly a biological transmutation - since there was no normals to help. They also became friends and Avery and Laurence decided to do an experiment a dangerous and life threatening one at that. They were going to transmute Avery's skeletal structure into a completely indestructible silvery metal much more powerful than steel or titanium or even diamonds. They succeded in completing this by slicing off some skin in the back of the head holding it open as to stop it healing up and Laurence touched the back of his skull being very careful not to touch anything else and the experiment worked. Avery was still able to retain full motar functions. Due to this experiment Avery's skeletal structure is indestructible and due to that he can lift increadable amounts without his bones breaking. and if you were to cut off all the meat on his bones you would see a metal skeleton. Avery and Laurence planned another experiment out to have a sort of metal claws that protrude out of the knuckles at will but they needed someone else with the ability to alter the cellular structure of someone Cellulokinesis. Luckily enough there was another agent who had that ability and was more than willing to do this and had that ability Anthony Willoughby. They first started off with getting someone with a specific type of Bone Spike Protrusions ones that are fairly thick and long. they found her Jessica Mcfarlane. As luck would have it the company did not know about this and they were just long enough. Next came the trickeyest part slicing open both arms and holding them open placing the three bones in one hand and three in the other and Anthony made the cells in the arm fuse with the cells in the bones making them retractable with thought and Laurence made them into the metal substance that is in Avery's skeletonmaking them indestructable plus if they ever did break they would grow back to normal as they are now part of him.They wanted to preform one more experement to increase the denseness of the muscles in his body to be much stronger than normal the guinea pig once again was Avery. First they needed someone with density manipulation that can affect others and there was only one case of this that they knew of Samuel Bently his particular ability is different to other people with this ability in that it did not work on himself but only works on others he usually uses it to make other specials too heavy to escape. Samuel needed more convincing than the others but eventually he did agree. He only made the muscle mass denser making Avery stronger very strong. strong enough to lift a ton of weight.
When the company collapsed in the primatech fire Avery just did not know what to do most of his life went into the company. So he moved from Odessa, Texas and settled down in the town he was born in New York City. He was in New York until he was captured by Danko's agents. Avery was later released by Hiro Nakamura. When he escaped he hid for a long time until he found out that Nathan Petrelli convinced the president that locking people up was a mistake. After these events a man named Samuel Sullivan came to him and offered him a place at his carnival Avery accepted his offer he thought it was heaven. Avery met his father not long after he came to the carnival. Avery also learned that his father after what happened with Avery manifested abilities of his own Spontaneous Regeneration and Autotrophgenesis. He left when Samuel wanted him to kill someone named Josh Zucker whose ability was too dangerous for Samuel to have as an enemy it was clairvoyance as he could find the carnival for Noah Bennet so Samuel wanted him terminated. Avery now does some stealing for money more for fun than money and sometimes killing but not very often and prefers not to. He will also do any job that needs doing after moving to New York.
