Charlie Andrews | Enhanced memory | Charlie was a waitress. For her job, she has to remember her customers and their orders. She has a very big memory. |
Claire Bennet | Rapid cellular regeneration | Claire is a cheerleader, and she has stated that being a cheerleader "is hard work -- hard, treacherous work. Cheerleaders are bound to be dropped by other cheerleaders, or even accidentally tackled by football players. Claire is also clumsy and always gets hurt. |
Bob Bishop | Alchemy | Bob is the head of the Company, presumably because he is the Company's funding, since he has the ability to transmute objects into gold. |
Brian Davis | Telekinesis | Brian seemed like a lazy man, also somewhat obese. He didn't want anything, such as his own power. Brian didn't want to take the effort to master his newly found ability. His power is telekinesis, a "lazy" power. |
Monica Dawson | Adoptive muscle memory | Monica lives in the Katrina-ravaged New Orleans, and expresses guilt at praying for an escape while everyone else was praying for the recovery of their community. Monica wants to be a local hero and to help the community out, and she can, with her powers. |
Hana Gitelman | Electronic data transception | Hana wanted to be a hero. She wanted to make a difference in the world. Her power allowed her to intercept, generate, and interpret electronic, digital, and radio transmissions with her mind, making her the perfect spy. Hana could make a difference. |
Meredith Gordon | Pyrokinesis | Meredith is a smoker. With her ability to create and manipulate fire, she lights her cigarettes. |
Guillame | Bliss and horror | Guillame was the leader of a village in Haiti. He was known as the Houngan, the Priest. With his power of "bliss and horror", he was able to protect his village from attack. He also became a great leader, thanks to his power, bringing about euphoric feelings in his people, which caused them to favor him. |
D.L. Hawkins | Phasing | D.L., an ex-convict, was on the run. He used phasing to escape his chains, his cuffs, and his cell. He could move through solid objects. |
Sanjog Iyer | Dream manipulation | Sanjog is a wise boy. Chandra Suresh saw him as a spirit guide. People go to him because they have questions that need answers. Dreams are a mystical concept. There is strange surreal imagery and hidden meanings in dreams. Dreams can teach you morals and you can discover the deeper meaning. Sanjog can enter one's dreams and alter one's perceptions, guides people with his ability. |
Daniel Linderman | Healing | Linderman's mother was dying of cancer and he wanted her to get well. Linderman was also field medic during the war, using his ability of healing to mend his patients' wounds. He also became a extremely wealthy business man, one with a "mob boss" status. With his power, he can decide who lives or dies. |
Eden McCain | Persuasion | Eden used to live with her stepmother. She was really quiet, didn't get her way, and was constantly mistreated. Eden was in a sense imprisoned by her stepmother, and wanted freedom and control. Her power is force another to obey her spoken commands gave her that freedom and control. |
Isaac Mendez | Precognition | Isaac was a drug addict, a junkie addicted to heroin. This can be compared to hallucinations, seeing things, and the brain damage drugs can cause. Isaac is also an artist, which is widely classified as visionary. Being an artist, he has many insights and ideas. Many artists in the past have drawn pictures of their predictions of the future, some of them amazingly accurate portrayal of events and ideas to come. Isaac, a precog, paints the future. |
Adam Monroe | Rapid cellular regeneration | Adam Monroe lived in 1671 and went by the name "Takezo Kensei". He was a samurai swordsman, and later became a mercenary. He could heal from any wound, and could survive any battle. |
Hiro Nakamura | Space-time manipulation | Hiro is an office worker, a boring job that would make one want to speed up time. Hiro is also a professed Star trek fan. He has read stories about many different heroes and has always wanted to be one. He can bend the space/time continuum, giving him the ability to change history, the present, and the future. |
Matt Parkman | Telepathy | Matt is associated with law enforcement. He has the task of keeping order in society and bringing criminals to justice. It isn't a surprise that he has the ability hear thoughts, project them, and control functions of the brain altogether. His power is very beneficial for him. Nobody can hide their thoughts from him, he can interrogate people perfectly, and he has mental dominance over his company. |
Nathan Petrelli | Flight | Nathan is a politician (in fact, he is commonly referred to as "the politician"), who has ambition and wants to reach new heights. He has also served in the U.S. navy as a pilot. He and his wife, Heidi, were in a car accident, and Nathan needed a method of escape. He has the ability to fly. |
Peter Petrelli | Empathy | Peter, being a hospice nurse, connects with his patients and their emotions. He has to know how they feel and has to take care of them. Many people have called Peter selfless, compassionate, empathic, kind, and caring. |
Claude Rains | Invisibility | Claude is a hobo, a hermit. Nobody knows he is alive except some pigeons. He does what he does best -- disappearing. Claude also practices thievery, snooping around, snatching items here and there. His power is invisibility. |
West Rosen | Flight | West was abducted by Noah and the Haitian, and needed a method of escape. West has always wanted to be special. He has the ability of flight. |
Micah Sanders | Technopathy | Micah is a child prodigy whose hobbies involve computers and technology, building and fixing them. |
Niki Sanders | Enhanced strength | Niki was an alcoholic, was abused as a child by her abusive and alcoholic father, and went through the stress of a single mother. As a single mother, she wants to be in two places at once. Niki's sister died when she was young, and Niki has repressed memories and doesn't remember her father's abusiveness. Niki has suffered a lot of mental trauma. Niki has Dissociative Identity Disorder, and the ability of enhanced strength. |
Dale Smither | Enhanced hearing | Dale was a mechanic. She heard the motor of a broken car to diagnose it problem. Her power was enhanced hearing. |
Ted Sprague | Induced radioactivity | Ted had a job as a medical equipment salesman, and plenty of medical equipment contain radiation. He was radioactive by nature. |
Sylar | Intuitive aptitude | Gabriel Gray, a watchmaker, restores time pieces. His occupation requires analyzing complex systems; he has to know how every gear and every piece works. He has a talent for the way things work. |
Zane Taylor | Liquefaction | Zane was a musician. Music involves sound waves and vibrations. Zane's power involves "melting" objects, and when Zane uses his power, the targeted item vibrates, ripples, and liquefies. |
Traveler | Omnilingualism | Traveler is a man who wanders the Earth, going from party to party. He knows every language, and can communicate with everyone perfectly. |
Candice Willmer | Illusion | Before she assumed the name Candice Willmer, she was known as Betty. Betty wanted to be someone else, someone who she wasn't. She didn't like the person she was, so she used her power to create illusion to create illusions. |
