Laura was a little girl when she discovered her ability. She was constantly picked on for taking her favourite book, Alice in Wonderland, with her everywhere and constantly reading it. During one incident she was cut on her cheek and ran home. She curled up into a ball hugging into the book, wishing she could be a part of its world. She fell asleep and she awoke to find her hand physically attatched to the book. Over the next few years, Laura kept her ability a secret, practising and experimenting with it. She lived in New York up until she recieved a job oppertunity from a paper company called Primatech Paper. She subsequently moved to Texas to work for them. While working there, she was bagged and tagged by Noah Bennet, and was mind-wiped. She remained in Texas until the destruction of Primatech Reaserch in Hartsdale, after which she returned to New York. After getting a part time job as a waitress, she was attacked by Goverment Agents and was taken to Building 26, where she remained until she was rescued by Hiro Nakamura and Ando Masahashi. She has since been contacted by a man called Edgar who invited her to join a Carnival.

Jonah was born in Glasgow, UK, and lived there until he was 18 at which time he moved to America. Jonah discovered his ability when he was 15 years old. After loosing his glasses, he unintentionally created an exact copy of them. This lead to his experimenting with his ability, mainly using it to create masses of money. When he was 17 he travelled to America on a school trip. While he was there, he was bag and tagged by The Company, who released him on the same day. He returned to Glasgow with his fellow classmates with no knowledge of his abduction. His trip had a lasting impact on him, and he decided to move to the US to learn more about his ability from a "Chandra Suresh". While here he used his ability to provide money to pay for shelter and food.

Mark was born in the 1930's and discovered his ability to create water when he was very young. Due to an incident with a wandering time traveller he was sent 70 years into the future. At this time he found a woman in the street, being mugged and tried to intervene. He was shot, but a second aspect of his ability manifested and the bullet went through his watery state. He used his ability to save the woman, then after she rejected his offer of help home, and the look she gave him, he disappeared to live in the sewers of New York.
It was in these sewers he discovered the third aspect of his ability, to manipulate water. After meeting with another "special" with a similar ability (see similar persons section), he was convinced to leave the sewers and try adapting to his new-found ability and world. He currently resides in New York.
