The following is a list of my personal theories on scientific names and explanations for many of the displayed evolved human abilities in Heroes episodes, evolutions and graphic novels:

Ability supercharging	ability augmentation	The user has the ability to temporarily increase the chromosome-altering adrenalin in people with abilities via a protein transferred via physical contact or through a directed energy beam that harnesses the user's own electromagnetic field.
Accelerated probability	already scientific	The user has a streamlined brain with accelerated mental operations that allow the user to both think and act superfast. Thus, the user appears to slow down time for himself to a point where the user's brain can calculate and project hallucinations of the probable paths objects would take in real time. Also, the user can create ball lightning as a byproduct of the ability due to a combination of static electricity developed while moving and directly ionizing the air with ultrafast vibrations.
Acid secretion	already scientific	The user's forearms and hands have enhanced sweat glands that can secrete large amounts of acidic fluid from the skin's surface.
Adoptive muscle memory	already scientific	The user has an enhanced brain function which enables rapid memorization of observed muscle movements.
Alchemy	aurification	The user's body has the capability to emit chemicals that can transform matter that the user touches into gold. This ability has never been depicted as transforming anything into a material other than gold.
Alejandro's ability	antidote emission, poison removal, poison immunity	The user has a biological immunity to poisons that can be shared chemically when touching.
Appearance alteration	morphing	The user can emit a protein from the user's hands. The protein makes the applied person's body's organs and tissues temporarily mutable at the cellular level as if they were clay/silly putty. The person to whom the ability is applied can then take any desired form for a limited amount of time. The cells of the person who to whom the ability is applied remember their original state and automatically revert when the effects of the protein wear off. It is not clear as to whether the ability can alter a person's mass, so transformation into a smaller or larger animal may not be possible.
Aura absorption	life energy absorption	The user's body has the capability to release and reabsorb proteins to and from another person via touch. The proteins involved transfer the cellular energies of a living creature (including any evolved ability the target may have).
Bliss and horror	emotion manipulation	The user has an enhanced ability to emit pheromones from one's body that can alter others' emotions as desired.
Clairsentience	already scientific	The user has the ability to mentally travel through time, experiencing visions of the history of the object touched.
Clairvoyance	already scientific	The user has the ability to astrally observe any person thought of.
Cloning	cloning (Julien); replication (Evan)	Julien's ability is to vegetatively clone himself through cellular mitosis. This should allow for cloning of his body, but nothing else. However, Evan has the ability to materialize copies of himself and other known matter. The copies are made by converting part of his metabolic energy into physical matter.
Crumpling	density manipulation, softening	The user has the ability to emit chemicals that can modify the density of matter that the user touches, allowing solid matter to be easily bent or crushed.
David's ability	unknown	The user's ability causes multiple physical changes which is normally found in forms of mimicry. In particular, the user's eyes change color to red and the user gains both enhanced speed and an uncontrollable aggression. These changes point towards a form of animal mimicry, but due to the limited information on his ability is not possible to be sure that is correct.
Dehydration	already scientific	The user has the ability to absorb fluids via touch.
Disintegration touch	plasma emission	The user can emit plasma from the user's hands and forearm (plasma, normally several thousand degrees Celsius, is hot enough to disintegrate many objects upon touching them). The user is immune to the effects of this ability.
Dream manipulation	already scientific	The user has the ability to communicate through dreams. Communication is performed by synchronizing the user's conscious brain waves with the target's subconscious and thus performing a form of mental teleportation.
Elasticity	already scientific	The user is capable of willfully directing the user's own bone and organ cells to polymerize and become at least partially cellulose, which is very flexible and has high plasticity. The user's body automatically depolymerizes the affected areas after the elasticity is no longer willed.
Electric manipulation	lightning	The user can use their own bioelectric field to create points of electric differential from the user's body to a desired target and generate bursts of electricity that follow that path.
Electrical absorption	already scientific	The user has an enhanced ability to store electrical charge.
Electronic communication	electronic data transception	The user has an enhanced mental capability to understand and send wireless data. At an advanced stage, the user's entire consciousness and body makeup can be transmitted as data similar to a Star Trek teleporter.
Empathic mimicry	already scientific	The user has the passive ability to alter his own dna to include the enhanced portions of dna of those he meets. Touch is not required so dna identification is assumed to be performed olfactorily (using the sense of smell).
Enhanced hearing	already scientific	The user has an enhanced hearing ability caused by being more sensitive than normal to audible vibrations. The enhancement allows the user to identify the slightest noise at far distances, and thus is useful for eavesdropping.
Enhanced memory	already scientific	The user has an enhanced memory ability that allows for recall of the faintest events. This ability is caused by a reduction in the mind's natural tendency to suppress older memories.
Enhanced speed	already scientific	The user has an enhanced muscles that can twitch at a faster than normal rate.
Enhanced strength	already scientific	The user has enhanced muscles that are similar in design to a gorilla's or other large ape, which allows the user a much greater strength than is typical for human beings.
Flight	already scientific	The users can temporarily convert their mass and that of the air around them into metabolic energy (E = mc2). The reduced mass makes them lighter than air, thus countering the force of gravity on their body and propelling them through the air.
Forcefield projection	electromagnetic interference	The user can willfully increase their body's electromagnetic field to the point that it serves as a physical barrier that can withstand force and pressure. The user's field may also block or interfere with wireless electromagnetic signals.
Freezing	already scientific	The user can freeze or generate frost around any desired matter by absorbing the heat from it and the air around it.
Gravitational manipulation	vortex creation	The user can willfully emit pheromonal anti-matter particles that create vortexes to an alternate dimension. Whether or not the user is immune to passing through the user's own vortexes is unknown.
Healing	already scientific	The user can emit special healing proteins from the hands that can heal the wounds and injuries of others that are touched.
Illusion	already scientific	The user can project any desired image directly into one or more heads using brain wave synchronization.
Impenetrable skin	already scientific	The user's body's skin cells automatically alter themselves temporarily to a diamond-based structure when sensing that pressure or force is being applied.
Induced radioactivity	already scientific	The user has an enhanced metabolism that can energize the user's cells such that they emit high-frequency radiation.
Intuitive aptitude	already scientific	The user has an enhanced mental capacity to instantly understand how things work.
Invisibility	already scientific	The user can willfully control moving his both in and out of a fourth physical dimension that shares the same time-space history as our own. The degree to which the user moves into this dimension only controls the user's opacity. Thus, the user can be invisible and still interact and be injured as when visible.
Laser emission	light amplification	The user has the ability focus his body's internal energy and emit it as a pinpoint beam of light of high intensity.
Levitation	already scientific	The user has the mental capability to completely counter the net force of gravity enacted on individual objects. Unlike telekinesis, the ability cannot apply force in any directional other than opposite of the net gravity vector of each object. On Earth or another astronomical body of comparatively larger mass, this means a levitated object must still be physically pushed or pulled to be moved parallel to the surface of the desired body. However, the force used to push/pull a levitated object is negligible due to the lack of surface friction. In the near weightless environment of outer space, objects may already be levitating but the ability can be used to maintain or raise the orbit of desired objects.
Luminescence	already scientific	The user can make their own body visibly glow at will via chemical reaction in the user's body's cells.
Lung adaptation	already scientific	The user's lungs are stronger than normal, and can adaptively switch to partial or total usage of a form of anaerobic respiration (breathing without oxygen). These adaptations to a user's lungs enable the user to breathe normally in environments with little to no oxygen, or where the atmosphere is highly toxic.
Magnetism	already scientific	The user has the ability to strengthen his body's natural magnetic field to such an extent that he can alter the magnetic properties of ferrous objects. This enables a user to bend magnetic objects with ease, and to move magnetic objects telekinetically with more force than average human muscles can exert.
Mediumship	spectral vision	The user has the ability to see the cosmic energy of individuals who have died (spirits).
Melting	already scientific	The user can lower the melting point of any desired matter to room temperature by shooting it with a burst of metabolic energy from the user's hand.
Mental manipulation	neurocognitive deficit	When touching a person, the user can emit specialized proteins that read and break neuropathways in a person's brain that retain memory. The user can also emit pheromones that can cause the inhibition of an evolved human's abilities or the mental breakdown of a normal person to the state of zombie.
Metal mimicry	metal transformation	The user can willfully control the temporary transformation of a portion of his body into solid metal. The transformation works by his desired cells releasing chemicals that transform them into a shape memory alloy. To reverse the process, the user's body sends electrical impulses into the metal and it reverts back. As with all shape metal alloys, applying heat also reverses the process.
Mohinder's ability	unknown	The user's ability causes multiple physical changes including enhanced strength and a form of endoskeleton, which normally only happens in some form of mimicry. Also, the user's emission of a web-like sticky substance, wall crawling, and cocooning could point either to a form of arachnid mimicry or a form a insect mimicry.
Nerve gas emission	already scientific	The user unconsciously releases a toxic nerve agent when sweating. Nerve gas is normally liquid at room temperature, so it may be present in the user's sweat. However, the Company's fear of the user implies that it is believed the nerve agent is emitted as in vaporized form as pheromones from the user's body. Nerve agents are easily vaporized/aerosolized and can be deadly when they enter a person's respiratory system.
Neurocognitive deficit	already scientific	Same as mental manipulation: When touching a person, the user can emit specialized proteins that read and break neuropathways in a person's brain that retain memory. The user can also emit pheromones that can cause the inhibition of an evolved human's abilities or the mental breakdown of a normal person to the state of zombie.
Omnilingualism	already scientific	The user has an enhanced mental capacity to instantly understand and speak the language of anyone he meets.
Persuasion	already scientific	The user has the ability to emit pheromones which causes others to bend to the user's will.
Phasing	already scientific	The user can willfully control moving his body in and out of a fourth physical dimension that shares the same time-space history as our own. The degree to which the user moves into this dimension only controls the user's permeability to normal matter. Thus, the user can partially materialize a portion of one of the user's limbs inside of an object, disrupt it and not injure him or her self.
Plant growth	already scientific	The user can emit pheromones which cause plants to rapidly grow to unusual size and to produce in abundance.
Plant manipulation	plant mimicry	The user has the capability to temporarily transform his body into having plant-like parts. The transformation works by some of the user's cells becoming genetically altered to function like plant cells, using photosynthesis and growing bark, branches, leaves and roots. Other side-effects of the ability include enhanced strength and being able to produce any desired variety of plant seeds. However, the ability would not be able to influence the seedlings' growth after they have been planted.
Poison emission	already scientific	The user can emit poisonous pheromones.
Possession	atomic chimerism	The user can implant another person or his or her self into someone else's physical body. The implanted person is then able to control that person's actions and use their abilities, if any. Unlike phasing, which I theorize moves a person into a different dimension, this ability is a means to combine the atomic makeup of two individuals. The combined individual becomes a form of human chimera via atomic means, instead of genetic. Thus, said person is likely to fail standard tests for chimerism.
Power absorption	already scientific	The user's body has the capability to release and reabsorb proteins to and from another person via touch. The proteins involved transfer the genetic information of any evolved ability the target may have to the user's cells and remove it from the target.
Precognition	already scientific	The user has the ability to mentally travel through time, experiencing visions of a potential future. The user can also see the past if it will be altered by a future time traveler.
Precognitive dreaming	already scientific	The user has the ability to dream visions of a potential future. The user can also see the past if it will be altered by a future time traveler.
Primal rage	anger induction	The user has the ability to emit pheromones that induce anger in others.
Puppet master	body puppetry	The user has the mental capability to control another's actions by synchronizing the user's motor cortex brain waves with those of people nearby.
Pyrokinesis	already scientific	The user has the ability to increase the quantum spin of the molecular structure of portions of the user's own body, creating heat and thus flames through friction.
Rapid cell regeneration	already scientific	The user has an enhanced version of a body's natural healing system which enables rapid regeneration of bone, skin and brain cells. A side-effect of this regeneration is that the person cannot die.
Sound absorption	already scientific	The user has the ability to metabolize sound energy, and thus silence any conversation at will. If the user has not mastered control of the ability, the user may not be able to completely turn it off. This could cause partial or complete deafness despite having perfectly functioning auditory systems.
Sound manipulation	already scientific	The user has enhanced vocal chords that allow for better control over the harmonics and intensity of sound energy they emit.
Space-time manipulation	already scientific	The users have the ability to convert their own bodies and whatever they are touching or concentrate on into and from energy that travels faster than the speed of light. This enables the users to teleport themselves and other objects through space and time instantaneously. If the ability is used in a prolonged manner, the users can use it to appear to slow time down, almost freeze it or speed it up, but what it really happening is that the users are teleporting continuously through time such that time appears to flow at a different rate than normal.
Spike protrusion	already scientific	The user has the ability to metabolize large amounts of cellulose and direct it into temporarily forming large wooden spikes that protrude from the user's body. The user's body automatically reabsorbs the spikes when no longer needed.
Super speed	enhanced speed	The user has a streamlined brain with accelerated mental operations that allow the user to both think and act ultrafast to the point at which time appears to be practically frozen.
Technopathy	already scientific	The user can synchronize the user's own brain function with the processing system of different electronic devices enabling thought control of said devices.
Telekinesis	already scientific	The user has the mental capability to alter the force of gravity upon individual objects.
Telepathy	already scientific	The user has the mental capability to read and transmit thoughts by synchronizing the user's brain waves with those nearby.
Telescopic vision	enhanced vision	The user has an enhanced visual cortex that allows for clear vision at telescopic distances and darker than normal situations. It also allows the user to see microscopic details clearly. Note that the visual cortex is part of the user's brain; seeing takes place in the brain, not the eye. The Company's testing has confirmed the visual cortex enhancement.
Shattering	glass shattering, ultrasonic vibration	The user has the mental capability to willfully emit directed ultrasonic vibrations from his body strong enough to cause glass to shatter or explode.
Water mimicry	already scientific	The user has the capability to temporarily transform his body into water. The transformation works by first transforming to energy and then to the element of water.
