Oh well here it goes...How did I get role on Heroes?     I actually worked on the pilot and Greg and I kinda hit it off we joked about (IF) the show turned out to be any good and it got picked up that he would like to have me double him! The Show turned out as we know to be a Hit and I got a great job doubling a fantastic guy! On set stories?    One story that comes to mind is the Gag where Matt gets thrown out of plate glass window...now I've done plenty of crazy gags over the years ,Doubling JohnTravolta in the 90's had me working on some of Johns best films, Face Off and Broken Arrow, however this day we had to hit an air ram fly thru a window and fall in a catch pit of 12 by 12 .The stunt had alot of variables the main one being if i overshot the catch pit i would have landed 30 ft to the bottom down onto 5th street in LA. As it turned out it went off without a hitch and at the end of the day Greg confirmed I was his man by saying even if he had to step off an apple box he would call me in! PowerI I would like to have?     Hmmm any power maybe the power of Knowing the Lottery numbers or forsee the results of the horse races before there posted!Favorite Hero?   EASY  one MAttWorking with Travolta?     I offically became JT's double on Get Shorty...AFter tthat we had devloped a great friendship and went on to work on 13 films in a 7year span. The great thing with John was that it was a family or entourage of sorts that worked for him.We all traveled together took vacations, smoked cigars, treated to all the posh resturants and were all part of something great at the time. Some of the best gags were done on Face Off ,Broken Arrow and Generals Daughter. That one was truly a one in million dream job!Work On Star Trek?     Stak Trek was also a great job again doubling a fine actot Johanthan Frakes...The beauty there was that he had a bad back so I was called in even for the smallest type gags (Ship Shake) also being best friends with the stunt coordinator Dennis madalone helped a bit when it came time to be thrown into ND positions (aka playing stunt aliens)....which usually meant 17-18 hours days with make up and all.....that gig also led to alot of work on DS9 the spin off. How's things going on Heroes?    Yes things are going well on Heroes however it would be great if Matts Character would flip a car or maybe do a fire burn more often....but you have to take the slow times with the good times....I also double Anthony Lapaglia on Without a Trace so between the 2 I stay fairly busy. How did I get into stunt work?     Well this could be a long story however I'll keep intshort by saying My NFL carerr never transpirred so looking for the next big adreline rush I decided to get into stunts....It really was planted in my head when I was much younger though, when watching the old James Cagney movie I always wanted to be the guys that Cagney would shoot .punch or throw out of a window.....so doing the big window gag for Greg kinda made it come full circle for me!!!It's been a heckuva ride I can only hope my body can continue to take the beating!!!

Simon Rhee

Which of the stunts which we see on Heroes have you had a role in creating? I did the choreography for the samurai sword scene with Masi and George Takei.      I also doubled George Takei in another episode where a guy tackled me and       I fell off the building.

If you could have any power, then what would it be? 2.  Probably to be able to influence kids to grow up with character/integrity...      If that isn't what you are talking about, maybe being able to fly (L.A. Traffic!)

Did you enjoy working on Heroes? Was it different from any other jobs you have had? 3.  Yes.  All the shows I have worked on a little different and unpredictable, but I enjoy      it all...

Do you have any stories from your work on Heroes? 4.  When I was teaching Masi the fight choregraphy for the sword scene, he didn't       like the fact that it was not purely Kendo, but after the taping, he came and bowed      to me because the fight scene was spectacular.  The choreography has to be      tailored not to the true sport itself but to the camera and what the camera will      pick up.

Where you a fan of Heroes before you took the part? 5.  No - I had not seen it yet.

If so do you have a favourite character or episode? 6.  I like Greg Grunberg's character

You have also done acting in lost, what was it like to work with Daniel Dae Kim? 7.  I have worked with him before so it was very pleasant working with him in Hawaii.

How long do you practice your Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do every day? 8.  Every day - at least an hour along with conditioning and other styles like Jujitsu and      Philipino sticks/knives.

Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still watch it now? I did. I was a huge fan of the show, never missed an episode. I lost my way a bit midway through last season, but I'm ready for number 3 and it has priority on my tivo. * If so do you have a favourite character or episode? I think one of the things that make the show great is its fantastic ensemble cast. * Do you have any stories from the set? Yup, but I'll never tell. * Did you have any lines which were cut from the final episode? Yup, it was dissapointing. I was actually on set for a couple days and filmed a few scenes, sadly only one one, sans lines, ended up in the episode. This happens all the time in TV. When editing an episode for time and story, producers have to decide which elements of the episode to cut. Generally it won't be the scenes with the lead actors. Let's be honest here, no one tuned in that day to see me if you don t count my own mother. * If you could have any power, then what would it be? For years I thought invisibility would be pretty great. However, recently I have been thinking that the ability to go back in time a couple hours would be useful. Obviously I'd be sports betting and online trading. * What was it like to work with and Adrian Pasdar? He is one of thoes people you meet and instantly know you've met an exceptional, genuine person. That's rare. * Do you work mainly as a voice actor or a physical one? Primarily on camera. * can you tell us a bit about any up and coming work you are doing? Sure. Keep an eye out for me in 24 and Numb3rs this fall, and Terminator 4: Salvation, and Brüno next spring and summer. * You have studied martial arts for over 20 years, what got you interested in this? Some girl kicked my ass in the 3rd grade. I decided then and there that would never happen again. My ego could never handle that again.

Bart McCarthy

Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still watch it now? I was a big fan of the first season. I felt I was one of those viewers in on the “ground floor” of something new and unique. Consequently, it was a real delight to be in one of the closing episodes. Because of other conflicts, I missed a lot of the early season 2 shows and eventually I fell off following the show.   If so do you have a favourite character or episode? Of course the most outstanding acting is for the role of Claremont! Seriously, though, I’ve always thought the characters and relationship of Hiro and Ando gave a humanity, humor and unpredictable quality to story. Do you have any stories from the set? Several. 1.) Greg Beeman, the director, told costume and make up: “Make Bart as dirty and greasy as you can, then make him more so!” It took three rounds of fake dirt and grease before he was happy. 2.) I don’t smoke, but Claremont is a chain smoker, so I had to practice smoking for a week with cut-off Lucky Strikes. On set, however, they had non-tobacco herbal cigarettes to smoke. I wish I had known of them before, much less harsh, and less offensive to the rest of the cast! 3.) George and I were talking about his name (he was named after a British prime minister, I believe!). Everyone mispronounces his last name, including William Shatner when they first worked on Star Trek. George would remind him: “Bill, that’s ‘te-kay’. You know, it rhymes with ‘toupee’!” (Which, of course, Bill wore on the show.) 4.) When Hiro returns to the showroom of my shop, he asks where Ando went. I say, “He bought one of my (Japanese word for long-swords) and left.” On one take I accidentally transposed two syllables, making it another Japanese word. Without a beat, Masi answered, “You sold him a green bean?” Did you have any lines which were cut from the final episode? Alas, yes, including a little scene with Ando. They may have thought it was a little confusing that Claremont understood Japanese without an explanation beforehand. My favorite cut line was (referring to Hiro as he goes to learn sword work from his father) “That little guy is supposed to save the world?... We’re all screwed.” Did you enjoy working on Heroes? Was it different from any other jobs you have had? I enjoyed the gig very much. The cast and crew were great to work with and I loved the set of my sword shop. Few acting jobs are like any others, especially for an actor such as myself, who likes to be considered a “chameleon”. If you could have any power, then what would it be? To get every gig I audition for! SUPER-ACTOR! What was it like to work with Masi Oka, James Kyson Lee and George Takei? A delight. It was great working with George Takei. I was a school kid seeing him in the first Star Trek, and vowed one day to be on the show (it wasn’t until Deep Space Nine, I accomplished that goal.)  But I enjoyed chatting with him the most. He, like myself, is a classically trained stage actor, and it was great to talk shop with someone with his long experience. Masi and James were both good guys, very down-to-earth and appreciative of the wonderful gig they found themselves in. It was funny to see Masi’s “cheat sheet” of his lines typed out in Japanese, and James, of Korean heritage, phonetically learning Japanese for his lines! You worked as a stakebed driver in All God's Children Can Dance, what was this like? This is a mistake on IMBD. I don’t always keep my info up to date. There are at least a half dozen shows I’ve done that aren’t listed. I’ll let them know some day when I get a chance. I guess the stakebed driver thing is just a computer glitch. I don’t think there’s a techie around that shares my name. Thing is though, if a part requires it, I’ll learn to do anything! Can you tell us a bit about any up and coming work you are doing? Just premiered a Lifetime movie GRAVE MISCONDUCT where I play a total crazy (lot of fun to do.) I’ll be guest starring on COLD CASE November 9th, and I recently shot a very exciting pilot by the creator of MEDIUM starring Amy Smart, called THE MEANT TO BE’S. I really hope it gets picked up as a mid-season replacement. Very well done and a great director, crew and Amy is a real delight. I play her killer, a mysterious character called “The Voice”.

Rick Scarry

Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still watch it now? The show was not yet on the air when the episode (One Giant Leap) was shot. It was the first episode filmed after the pilot. The bar scene was used in flashbacks for three other episodes. I still watch from time to time depending on my schedule. If so do you have a favourite character or episode? I enjoy the character of Hiro very much. Do you have any stories from the set? The beer we were using was a horrible mixture of alcohol free beer and iced tea. It tasted awful and Greg had to choke some of it down in every take. Did you have any lines which were cut from the final episode? There were two or three lines that were lost in the final edit. That’s a pretty normal situation for most shows Did you enjoy working on Heroes? Was it different from any other jobs you have had? It was an enjoyable job. I had worked with the director, Greg Beeman, on theWonder Years several years ago. The shooting experience is pretty much the same on every show and I don’t recall anything unusual. If you could have any power, then what would it be? Tough one! Probably to become invisible so I can slink away…. What was it like having you mind read? We had to take some unnatural pauses in dialog so the mind reading lines(thoughts) could be inserted later in post production. What was it like working with Greg Grunberg? Very nice guy….always a pleasure to work with. Can you tell us a bit about any up and coming work you are doing? I was very fortunate to appear all last season on the hit series Weeds as one of the crooked city councilmen although I was killed off in the season finale. I continue to be very busy and I have episodes of five TV series in the can for this coming year. Although I do not have air dates, I will be appearing at some point in  “Big Love” at HBO, “Dirty Sexy Money” on ABC, “Worst Week” on CBS, “The Starter Wife” on USA and  “The Secret Life of The American Teenager” on ABC Family.   The latest scheduling is always posted on my website: www.rickscarry.com

> Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still> watch it now? Answer: I watched Heroes just a few times before actually being in the show.> > If so do you have a favourite character or episode? Answer: I like Masi Oka. A young but very talented actor.> > Do you have any stories from the set? Answer: Learning the Japanese chanting while being the monk was very difficult. We had a real monk (Rev. Ito) that had to help us with the chanting to make it authentic. We could not just say anything we wanted. I actually had to memorize a real chant.> > Did you have any lines which were cut from the final> episode? Answer: No, everything was used.> > Did you enjoy working on Heroes? Was it different from any> other jobs you have had? > Answer: I did enjoy working on Heroes very much. Most of the work I do is for commercials and movies. Not too much for TV series. The shooting for Heroes was therefore able to be done in one day where as movies can take much longer. I like short shooting schedules because it does not keep me away too long from my other work as a karate instructor.> If you could have any power, then what would it be? > Answer: The power to heal myself and others> What was it like to work with Masi Oka and George Takei? > Answer: They are both great guys and fantastic actors. I have had the opportunity to work with many top actors and the people that are top in their field never fail to amaze me with their talent.> You have been in almost 300 movies, but which one was your> favourite to work on? > Answer: The Hunted with Christopher Lambert. I was a drunken swordsmith. It was a great action movie and one of my best character roles.> You are the only living soke in the world, does this put a> lot of pressure on you? Answer: As a Soke, you have to constantly create. I work sometimes for many years on a new kata form only to have to discard it and start over again. The amount of concentration it takes to create karate kata is tremendous. I just finished my last kata which is the culmination of my work. It is called "Ju No Michi" or "Life's Road". It has taken such a toll on me that I think it will be my last one!

• What was it like to work on the webisodes? Was it different from any other work you have done? I had a fantastic time working on the webisodes. A great crew and cast to work with. The kind of work that I usually do with my group osseus labyrint is very experimental and usually takes place in unusual environments like castle ruins or industrial sites. I also work as a movement coach and often get cast as a creature or apparition in movies. It was really fun to just wear street clothes, speak lines and crawl through the dirt for a change. I really liked the rhythm of the shoot as well. Very fast, lots of energy.• Can you tell us more about your power? The direction I got was that I when constrict someone a sort of paralysis sets in. And I can crush a person if I choose to without much effort. I’m not sure what other plans, if any, they have for my character(supposedly I have an identical twin) but it would be fun to develop the skill. I can see me taking someone to the ground with more of a struggle sometimes—a lot of winding about, though it would take some time to rehearse. I can also see my character using objects and obstacles to gain leverage on someone the way a snake does. Like constricting someone around a column or pushing against a wall. It would be great to uncoil from an overhead beam and snatch someone up.• Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still watch it now? I don’t watch much TV so I wasn’t really familiar with it until I got the audition. I was pleasantly surprised to see how good it was. I’m looking forward to the new season.• Do you have any stories from the set? The part where Echo blows my brains out was pretty funny to shoot. The air gun that shot the blood and bits of brain—they were chunks of a bagel from craft service—misfired once or twice. I made a huge mess o the living room where w shot it, which happened t be i the house o one o the producers. When w finally got i right everyone burst into hysterics.• Did you have any lines which were cut from the final webisdoes? Nothing was really cut. Things were rewritten, which is normal. Often in film and television lines are changed on the spot, though that didn’t happen on this episode.• If you could have any power, then what would it be? That’s a tough one…if it could be something grand and really powerful I wouldn’t mind being able to create world peace. If it was a smaller, more personal local power I’d love to make people have fits of unbearable laughter as a means to overpower them.• Do you know that your character , according to NBC, has a twin brother? If this is true then do you know if you will be playing him in the future? I heard that I have a twin but haven’t heard anything about future plans. • Can you tell us about any of your other work? Like I Am Legend or Men and Black II?I had small part in Men in Black II. My collaborator, Hannah Sim and I came up with our own means of locomotion for that one. Rick Baker was the make-up artist on the movie and is one of the greatest in his field. When they were deciding what kind of make-up to put on the different characters he looked at us and said, “they don’t need any make-up, they’re weird enough already”.I was more involved with I Am Legend. I was a movement coach on that as well as one of the infected. We worked with about 40 performers and conducted a boot camp, rehearsal process before we started shooting. The performers were stunt people, dancers, actors and Parkour artists, which is a type of urban acrobatics that started in Paris. We spent about 6 weeks developing behavior and a movement vocabulary for the infected humans. Much of what we developed never made it to the final film and there was a lot of good stuff. So I look forward to using some of that movement for another project. I’m shooting a movie in Portland next month. It’s a supernatural thriller where I’ll be using my movement skills to play a ghostly demon-like creature that tries to inhabit the bodies of humans.

  • Did you watch Heroes before you took the part? Do you still watch it now? I had actually only seen one episode before I got the part on Heroes. I have continued to watch after shooting it though. How could I not.* If so do you have a favourite character or episode? I'd have to say my favorite character is Nikki since I got to work with her. * Do you have any stories from the set? On set Ali was very nice. She made me feel very comfortable and welcome. It can be tough as an actor coming onto a set where everybody has been working together and have already become close. She really wanted to work together to make the scene the best it can be. * Did you have any lines which were cut from the final episode? Yes. They cut out me telling her to turn around and put her hands behind her back and start to cuff her. They wanted to keep it a mystery whether she was arrested or not.* Did you enjoy working on Heroes? Was it different from any other jobs you have had? I had a great time on Heroes. Like I said Ali treated me great. On some other shows they didn't make me feel very welcome. Everybody on Heroes was very nice.* If you could have any power, then what would it be?I think I would want to be able to fly.* What was it like to work with Ali Larter? She was great. I would work with her anytime. A very giving actor. Not bad looking either. * You are a actor on tv and stage, singer, songwriter, director and producer, which of these roles do you prefer doing the most and why? That's a tough question. I definitely spend more time acting. I love it! But I also love singing. I think they both satisfy a different part of me. As for directing, that is something I will do every once in a while when I'm very inspired by a particular story.* You are currently working on your first solo album, can you tell us a bit about this?I have actually put my solo album on hold to focus on acting and a film I am writing. I still sing from time to time, but I had to put my focus on these other things for now.Thank you for your interest! Good luck to you.
