The assignment tracker map notes that Markus Gaines is linked to a widespread dog fighting operation in the Midwest. He is believed to be an evolved human with the ability to control and communicate with animals. He's described as a 34-year-old Latino male with brown hair and brown eyes.
Faction Zero
In chapter 3 of Faction Zero, Magdalena Muller shows up at Claire Bennet's doorstep, informing her that "Wildman" is coming. Markus arrives, using his power to learn what Mag told Claire. He then summons some dogs from down the street and has them attack Claire, Mag and Sandra. He momentarily stops the attack, demanding to know all that Claire knows about Sabine Hazel. When Claire claims that she knows nothing, he has his dogs and several other animals try to kill her. Rachel, Hiro, and Ando teleport into the room and Rachel successfully defeats Markus. He manages to escape by making a bird fly in and attack Rachel.
Slow Burn
In chapter 2 of Slow Burn, Chris Bowman says that he can't trust the people at Sullivan Bros. Carnival any more than he could trust Markus.
In chapter 4 of Slow Burn, John tells Gail Bowman he thought she went underground after Wildman went crazy.
Evolved Human Abilities
Markus is able to control and communicate with animals with what seems to be a click of his fingers. According to the Assignment Tracker Map, he used this ability to hold dog fights.
