On June 13, 2015, Quentin Frady tracks down Noah Bennet at Zundermann and watches him from afar. Quentin looks at a picture of Noah that says "Ted Barnes" and shows that he is the employee of the month.

"Ted Barnes" attempts to see a car to a patron and her daughter while at Zundermann Motors. His fiancé, Julia later visits him at work and notices Quentin stalking him from the parking lot.

In the eBook Brave New World, there is an extra scene in which Bennet wins over a woman and her two children to buy a car. His coworker, Errol Rivera, used to be the "top dog" until Ted came along, but Ted is such a nice guy that Errol doesn't mind. Errol teases Ted good-naturedly, and says that Friedkin believes Ted will be a lock for Employee of the Month again. Ted says that there's no trick to his success, just "bag and tag".
