Mohinder meets with Bob in his Hartsdale office to discuss Mohinder's first assignment--find a man with the virus and cure him.

Fight or Flight

At the hospital, Bob tells Mohinder that he made the right choice to bring in Molly. Bob gives Mohinder an assignment to find Monica, and hands him a tazer. Bob explains that most aren't in control of their abilities, and Niki suddenly bursts in, throwing Mohinder against a wall and then chokes Bob. Mohinder tazes her to stop her choking Bob.

Bob watches over Niki, and he tells her Multiple Personality Disorder is difficult, but he'll help her. Mohinder watches over her, and after Bob leaves the room, tries to let her go. She tells Mohinder that she came here on her own to get help because no one can help her except the Company.

The Line

In a gym at the Company's hospital, Monica copies the moves of a gymnast on the television for Mohinder, who is testing her. When she asks about others like her, he tells her that there are others, but their powers are different, that she was the first to demonstrate "adoptive muscle memory." Bob enters and reassures her that her ability is incredible. Monica asks who he is, and he introduces himself as chief of operations for the Company. He asks to speak to Mohinder in private. He reveals to Mohinder the next step of the testing: injecting Monica with a variation of the Shanti virus, designed to remove her ability without harming her. Mohinder is alarmed by this and explains that they risk creating an incurable version of the virus that could spread to the general population. Bob claims this is a risk they need to take. Mohinder tries to reason that Monica is a nice girl who loves her ability, but Bob still orders Mohinder inject her. Later, on the phone, Mohinder explains Bob's plans to Noah, who is with the Haitian. Noah tells Mohinder that he has to take the risk, or else they will get rid of him and they will lose everything they've worked for. He explains that they have to do bad things sometimes in order to take down the Company.

Mohinder comes up to Monica with a syringe with the new variant of the virus, telling Monica it's standard procedure. She tells him she doesn't "do needles", but he promises her that it's the last step in her training before they let her go home. She winces and turns away, but Mohinder decides against it and bursts in on Bob. He tells Bob that he won't inject Monica. Bob tells him that they'll find someone else to do it, and there's plenty more of the virus left. Mohinder throws a stool at a storage cabinet full of vials and tells Bob that he's taking Molly and leaving the Company.

Mohinder finds Molly still in a coma, and Bob comes to apologize to Mohinder. Bob explains that he has been with the Company for thirty years, and they have made many difficult decisions, some of which he still regrets. Bob explains that in dealing with a dangerous individual, he made a poor decision in forcing Mohinder to give Monica the virus. Mohinder remembers the file with Adam Monroe's name written on it, and Bob agrees. Bob explains that Mohinder is with the Company not just for his research or his blood, but to keep them in line. Mohinder notes that Molly is not ready to leave, and that he does not trust Bob at all, and Bob explains that he has someone who will help with Mohinder's trust issues.

At the Company hospital, Mohinder is greeted by Niki, who tells him that she feels much better, and that she has been assigned to be his partner. She explains that Bob and Mohinder have trust issues, and she is there to ensure that there aren't any problems.

Out of Time

While Mohinder is at Molly's bedside, he receives a call from Noah Bennet. Noah asks him if the company has given him a gun. Mohinder tells him he doesn't have a gun. When Mr. Bennet tells him he's going to forward pictures of the paintings to him, Mohinder protests, and tells him his partner is keeping watching on him. He tells Noah that he is unsure of his motives. Niki shows up and Mohinder hangs up, while Mr. Bennet burns the paintings.

Niki and Mohinder go to see Bob, who approaches them and tells them he is evacuating the facility because Matt and Nathan have arrived to warn Bob that Maury Parkman is after him.

In Bob's office, Matt tells Bob he wants to take him in for protection. Bob disagrees saying they will take Maury down then. He tells Mohinder that he and Niki need to inject Maury with the virus. Bob then tells Matt that it will be his responsibly to stop his father, as he is the only one capable.

Matt is at Molly's bedside, apologizing to her for putting her into the condition she is in. He lets her know that he blames himself for his father leaving. When he tells Molly he loves her, her monitors beep. Matt uses his ability to project "I love you Molly" into the girl's mind. Meanwhile, Mohinder and Niki go to get a sample of the virus. Niki attempts to show Mohinder that what Bob has told him to do is the right choice. He nods and walks around the corner. Niki turns around to see D.L. standing behind her. He calls her a killer, telling her she will never have a life. When Mohinder returns, there is no D.L. and the two walk off as Maury comes out of a room behind them. Nathan and Bob are talking in Bob's office. Nathan asks who Adam Monroe is and is told that he is the one trying to kill him and the others, using Maury as his weapon. Bob says they locked him up, but two weeks ago, he escaped. Nathan asks Bob why he should care, and Bob responds that he should care because of Peter - who is still alive.

Maury watches as Niki and Mohinder obtain samples of the virus. Again, Niki sees D.L. who argues with her about her involvement in the company. Mohinder sees her talking to herself. Niki watches Bob shoot DL who tells Niki that she has to kill Bob. Mohinder becomes concerned as Niki continues to talk with herself and support a figure that isn't there. Niki punches Mohinder and sends him across the room. She grabs a syringe and walks out the door.

Bob shows Nathan videos of Peter and tells Nathan they last knew Peter was in Ireland. Niki begins punching holes into the door of Bob's office. Matt hears and heads out to investigate, only to find himself in his childhood home where he sees Molly at the table. She explains they are in Maury's nightmare. As Matt tries to escape, Niki breaks the door to Bob's office. Matt is able to pull his father into the nightmare with him and Molly. When Niki grabs Nathan, he and Bob try to bring her to her senses. Seeing it as her only option, she injects herself with the virus. Maury and Matt argue, and Matt tells his father he thinks he can trap him in the nightmare he has created. He tells Maury he isn't scared of him anymore. He says he's a good man, a good cop and a good father, more than his father could have been, and, with Molly, leaves the nightmare. Matt wakes up to find Maury lying on the floor. Molly then wakes up and tells Matt she heard that he loves her.

Mohinder tries to use his blood to help Niki. He finds that his antibodies cannot cure her.

Mohinder tells Bob that the strain Niki injected herself with has no cure. Bob shows Mohinder a police report of a girl who was dropped fifty feet and lived. Bob thinks Claire can help Niki survive. Knowing Mr. Bennet would not allow that, he hands Mohinder a gun, to be prepared. Mohinder reveals to Bob his partnership with Mr. Bennet and their motives to take down the company. He says he does not know what is right and what is wrong.

Four Months Ago...

Four months ago

Peter wakes up in Bob's office to Elle shocking him with tiny lightning bolts. He immediately asks Bob and Elle where Nathan is. Bob assures Peter that Nathan is safe, but his situations is dire. They then say that as long as Peter is not in control of his powers, he is a danger to everyone around him, so they used the Haitian's power to prevent Peter from using his powers - at least temporarily. Bob then says that he has a cure for Peter's powers, and that he will never have to worry about hurting anyone again.

Elle is giving Peter a haircut in the Company building. She tells Peter to take what she calls "Haitian pills" every day to suppress his powers. She then starts to leave, but shocks him on the head right before she exits, saying that they would hurt at first, but Peter "would get used to it... and then [he'll] like it." She leaves, leaving Peter alone in his cell. He then hears a voice coming from a vent in the wall. It is the voice of Adam Monroe.

Three months ago

Adam remarks that he has known Peter for a month, yet he has never told him his name. Peter tells Adam his name.

Two months ago

Peter is in his cell when Elle comes in. Peter says that he's not in a mood, but Elle says that she'll "up the dose." Peter relents, and Elle shocks his fingers as part of some "sadistic lightning" ritual. Elle then tells Peter about her miserable past. After she leaves, Adam warns Peter that he should keep away from Elle. Peter says that he doesn't want anything from Elle except the drugs. Adam then says that the "cure" that the Company is giving him does nothing at all, and that they were still perfecting the "cure" when he arrived at the Company thirty years ago. Peter doesn't believe him, saying that the Company was created to help people like them. Adam then says that the place that they're in isn't a facility: it's a prison.

Peter asks Bob if he can see his family, but Bob says it is not possible at the moment. Bob then leaves Peter behind, who asks him if he's ever getting out of his cell. Adam reminds Peter that the cell is a prison. Adam then says that he will be able to save Nathan. He says that just a small amount of his blood could help heal Nathan, even after everything Peter has put him through.

One month ago

Peter is in his cell when Elle comes in. Peter is puzzled that Elle doesn't shock him. Elle asks Peter if he wants her to, and he grabs her and pulls her onto the bed. Elle reaches for Peter's hand to shock it, but Peter kisses her instead. Elle shocks Peter with her own lips, and Peter gets up to take the ersatz pills. When Elle leaves, Peter flushes the pills down the toilet. Adam tells Peter to try using his powers to escape, as he hadn't taken the pills for five days. Peter concentrates on the wall separating his cell and Adam's, and he manages to phase through it. Peter meets Adam face to face for the first time since they met, and remarks that Adam's been holding up pretty well for a 400-year-old man. Peter and Adam prepare to leave to heal Nathan.
