  • We sure are getting backed up with unpatrolled edits, guys! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:19, 30 October 2008 (EDT)
    • Ok, I went through and purged most of the talk namespace (aside from my own comments) as a start. That was a whole lot, but there's still many more.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:04, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
      • Thanks, Miami. I hate to sound like a nag because I understand we're all volunteers. Any help people can give is truly appreciated. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:00, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
        • No problem, the "Graphic Novel", "Graphic Novel talk", "Image", "Image talk", "Template", "Template talk", "User" and "User talk" namespaces are patrolled now as well. Sometimes rl creeps up on everyone at once. Very understandable. Happy Halloween!--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:31, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
          • Thanks, Miami. FYI, one namespace that I visit very rarely is the Theory namespace. There's a bunch of unpatrolled edits in that namespace. On a related note, I'm looking for somebody I can promote to a patroller to primarily patrol the Theory namespace. There's a lot that needs to be cleaned up there. It should be somebody who has a good grasp of grammar, spelling, etc., a working knowledge of Heroes in general, and a good understanding of Heroes Wiki policies and procedures. If there's a user anybody thinks should be nominated, let me know so I can take a look at their contributions. Because there's a chance they might not be promoted after being nominated, it's probably best to keep nominations private. If there's anybody you'd like to nominate (including yourself), email me at ryangibsonstewart at heroeswiki dot com. Thanks, all! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:23, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
            • "Theory" and "Theory talk" namespaces are all caught up for patrolling now. It takes a bit longer to patrol theory pages than other pages as they tend to have more formatting errors.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:16, 3 November 2008 (EST)
              • I'm a firm believer that if a set of pages is correctly formatted, people will make less mistakes on them. Mistakes will still happen, but less of them....Thanks for patrolling the often-tedious-to-patrol Theory pages. Better you than me! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:14, 3 November 2008 (EST)
            • No problem, Ryan. Only the "Spoiler" and "Spoiler talk" namespaces are left for October now. Can you or someone else patrol them? I've been keeping myself spoiler-free this volume.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:54, 7 November 2008 (EST)

Patrols

Hey, I noticed a hand full of y'all are making some edits but not patrolling. If you could patrol some of the more recent edits when you're on here, that'd help out alot. I'm trying to take care of the older ones little by little. Thanks.--Bob (talk) 17:43, 12 August 2008 (EDT)

  • I don't mean to start anything, but I've noticed that patrolling tends to get very backed up when I do not do it. If I do not sign in for several days, there's usually several full days worth of patrolling to do. I've been very busy the past two weeks, and as noticed the amount of unpatrolled edits was 500+ (if not much more) until just recently. I'm not saying the others aren't patrolling, but going through three or more days of edits just to "clean up" the edits is quite tedious and quickly becomes not worth my time. -- Lulu (talk) 01:58, 18 August 2008 (EDT)
    • This might show patrol traffic. I left all the theory edits untouched because I don't deal with them normally (as was stated when we recruited some patrollers). Ryan and I knocked out a ton, mainly Ryan. My topic was started because we were backed up for several weeks of unpatrolled edits, but today and yesterday I did about 200 patrols, and Ryan did about 200 today. I was hoping people would help out so I could get to some of my other to-do's, but it appears we knocked out all of em. Like I said, whenever you're online, just knock out a few patrols. We're not backed up for a while, but in the future we will be. Thanks agian.--Bob (talk) 02:43, 18 August 2008 (EDT)
      • I normally don't patrol when I am at work or on a laptop, so I haven't been doing as frequently as I have before. There was a week or so that nobody else was doing any, I think several people were on vacation or at camp. I would sit for hours just patrolling. -Lөvөl 13:04, 18 August 2008 (EDT)
        • It does become frustrating when there's a bunch of unpatrolled edits, but there's not a lot of reason to worry about it. The point of patrolling is really just to make sure that every single edit is reviewed by somebody responsible. Whether or not the edits actually get patrolled or not is less important than the fact that they're reviewed. This becomes a bigger issue when the episodes start airing again and it's impossible for one, two, or more people to look at every edit. With a bit of good fortune, our traffic after September 22 will be so great, and the number of unpatrolled edits will be so high that we will have to recruit some more patrollers. That's a good thing. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:39, 18 August 2008 (EDT)

I hate to do this again, but can we please get some more people to do patrols? Not that many people are patrolling, and the unpatrolled ones are all the theory edits. One of the main reason we recruited more patrollers was to deal with the theory page edits, and they're not being patrolled. I have no idea about the quality of the edits being done on these pages, so if someone could start working on these, that'd be great. --Bob (talk) 16:26, 24 November 2008 (EST)

Sorry!

Sorry I haven't been patrolling for a while, but I went on a three-week vacation, and then there hasn't been much to do since I got back - it's done when I get on! But I haven't forgotten, and I'm not neglecting my duties. ;)--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:35, 24 August 2008 (EDT)

  • No worries, no worries. You do what you can when you are able. Life comes first. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:29, 24 August 2008 (EDT)
    • Just an update guys - the reason I haven't been patrolling is because we've been two episodes behind you here in the UK. However, thanks to your election, we're now up-to-date, and now, as far as I'm aware, we will only be two days behind you guys. So, basically, what I'm saying is that I'm going to be able to do some more patrolling now. :)--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  03:49, 9 November 2008 (EST)

Guidelines for patrolling

Since we're coming up on a very busy time with the advent of the third season, may I make a few suggestions regarding patrolling. Please take these as guidelines and suggestions, and not as accusatory charges of wrongdoing or blame-placing.

  1. The point of patrolling is not to clear a list of unpatrolled edits, but to quality check every edit made to the wiki.
  2. Patrollers should be checking such things as accuracy of facts, spelling, grammar, punctuation, layout, style, tense, perspective, etc. They should also make sure that polices are adhered to, such as no spoilers on non-spoiler pages, and removing speculation and theories from regular pages.
  3. Once an edit is patrolled, it cannot be undone. Therefore, if you are not sure of something, do not patrol it. Either leave the edit for somebody else to patrol, or bring up your question or concern on the talk page.
  4. Patrol only when you have time to dedicate to editing. If you don't have time to edit something at that moment, that's fine--but don't patrol the edit then. A trap people often fall into is thinking that they'll remember to fix an edit later on. Don't fall into that trap--leave the patrol for somebody else.
  5. Patrol patrollers' edits. Don't fall for the fallacy that just because a person is a patroller, their edits are perfect. (It also helps to go back and check your own edits as you scroll through the recent changes.)
  6. Likewise, patrol administrators' edits. This is tricky because an administrator's edits are automatically patrolled. We are not infallible--please check our edits as much as you would check anyone else's edits.
  7. If a situation arises where you need to address a contributor either on an article's talk page or on the user's talk page, please do so in a kind and professional manner. State the facts, but do so in a way that is not overly aggressive. Leave judgmental language or anything that might be perceived as offensive out of your comments. This goes for edit summaries too, of course. Just remember that we all start somewhere, and the last thing we want to do is scare away newbies or casual contributors. Go easy when explaining policies, and remember that you might have to explain the same thing a million times, and that's okay.

I think you guys are all doing a fantastic job of keeping the wiki up-to-date, accurate, and consistent. Keep up the good work, and enjoy Season Three! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:54, 19 September 2008 (EDT)

  • Thanks, Ryan! Do you mind if I expand the project page to incorporate some of your guidelines? There's already some guidelines listed, but you just listed some new ones that may be helpful. BTW, I think you are doing a great job as an administrator and I intend to enjoy Season Three. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:10, 19 September 2008 (EDT)
    • Good guidelines, and many of y'all do an excellent job at watching our edits. I appreciate any clearing up after I screw something up, so thanks! I remember after the first hiatus in Season One and then the premiere of Season Two that there will be TONS of edits, and that was before we grew so large. So just keep in mind that there will be a lot of red marks on the recent changes page. Just be patient and go through the history. The worst thing that happens is the constant edit-conflicts. Good luck to everyone.--Bob (talk) 21:54, 19 September 2008 (EDT)
      • Just so you guys know, I'm from the UK - therefore, starting Monday, I won't be able to come on the wiki, as Season Three doesn't start over here until Wednesday, October 1, by which point we'll be three episodes behind. Just wanted to let you guys know. But thanks for the guidelines! :)--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:26, 20 September 2008 (EDT)
        • That sucks. Yanno, you can always patrol GN edits or other edits if at all possible. Doesn't mean you can't come here, but I understand your hesitance. --Bob (talk) 04:45, 20 September 2008 (EDT)
        • Sorry, Lost Soul. I had thought that this season BBC was going to air episodes the same week. I guess something happened to change that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:51, 20 September 2008 (EDT)
    • Miami, I don't mind if you want to update the page, of course. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:14, 20 September 2008 (EDT)

A couple questions

Hey, just a couple of quick questions this time around...

  1. How do we patrol talk page edits. Do we still correct spelling/punctuation/etc, or do we just make sure no inappropriate content is posted, and answer any questions asked?
    • For the talk pages I don't worry about spelling. I do watch out for inappropriate content and also I look out for unsigned messages. When I find an unsigned one I manually create a signature at the end based on the time of the user's edits. (Admin 18:43, 20 October 2008 (EDT))
  2. A question about standard layout I can't seem to find...when stringing gallery picture descriptions together, do we use ellipses on each side of the comments (that is, at the end of the first gallery picture comment and at the beginning of the next)?

Thanks. Stevehim 18:29, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

    1. I wouldn't edit anything a user posts on a talk page, unless it creates a red link we don't want, or it's a spoiler or it's completely foul or disgusting in some way. I don't think I've ever really come across too many of that last example--and most of them seem to have been on my talk page!
      • As for spoilers, it's sort of your discretion whether you use the spoilertext (which I despise) or whether you remove the content entirely. Spoilers don't go on non-spoiler pages and the spoilertext is a hack that only sometimes works. (Admin 18:46, 20 October 2008 (EDT))
    2. Ellipses go at the end of the first picture and at the beginning of the second picture.
  • -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:40, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
      1. As Ryan said, for talk pages, it's mainly a matter of making sure no inappropriate content is posted (i.e. spam, bad language, spoilers). But you can also check that people remember to post their signatures. As for typos and grammar, people should normally be left to express themselves as they see fit when posting their comments.
      2. When doing descriptions for gallery images, if you end with an ellipse then you should begin the next description with an ellipse as Ryan pointed out. However, it is not necessary to always string the images together. You should find plenty of examples of non-stringing in the "Examples of <ability>" pages.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:50, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
      • Thanks guys (for both the answers and the welcoming). I figured that to be the case (though hadn't considered the 'unsigned' aspect), but I wanted to make sure, especially about the ellipses, since I think I'm going to go over the 'Examples of <ability>' pages. --Stevehim 18:57, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
        • A note about the ellipses and the broken sentences--it's okay to use them in the ability galleries and elsewhere, and I wouldn't say they should be avoided, but they really shouldn't be the norm. If we can make real sentences, let's do. I would only break up a sentence along multiple pictures if the images represent events that took place in rapid succession (like Sylar breaking his neck, and then fixing it right away) and in very few other cases. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:11, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

How do i become a patroller ?

Hi guys i was wondering how do i become a patroller? Gabriel Bishop 16:10, 12 December 2008 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • If an administrator thinks you are qualified to be a patroller, they will ask you if you are interested. You can also nominate someone else or yourself by contacting an administrator, but since that person may not be selected it is often best to do so privately (via e-mail). Selection is dependent upon the administrator's view of a person's skill in distinguishing between edits that are appropriate and those that are not (e.g. info is misplaced or doesn't follow the style guidelines, etc.) and how the person typically handles the latter type of edit.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:27, 12 December 2008 (EST)
    • Oh kk thanks miamivolts Gabriel Bishop 17:00, 12 December 2008 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
  • When I promote a patroller, I look for proficiency in three areas: knowledge of Heroes (trivia, episodes, characters, powers, that kind of stuff), knowledge of Heroes Wiki (policies, procedures, editing, discussions, all the wiki-specific stuff), and knowledge of English (grammar, capitalization, spelling, punctuation, syntax, word usage, all that good stuff). I don't expect anybody to be completely perfect in those areas, but I look for well-roundedness. I also take into consideration the amount of time they've been editing, the quality of their submissions, and how nice they are when they speak with others. I'm not ready to make you a patroller, Gabriel Bishop, but one thing you can work on is your capitalization and grammar. For instance, whenever you use the word I, it should always be capitalized. However, Sometimes You Capitalize Every Word In The Sentence, which is not correct, either. I don't tell you that to make fun, but to give you something to work on. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:53, 12 December 2008 (EST)

I understand Ryan i am improving my grammar just as we speak.Hopefully in the future you will turn me a patroller but i only know that is in the future. Gabriel Bishop 16:25, 13 December 2008 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • You know, he just told you to capitalize all instances of I, yet you're still doing it UR WAI. A few more tips:
  1. Always keep a space between a punctuation mark and the following letter.
  2. Capitalize character/episode/graphic novel names, as well as usernames if it applies (MiamiVolts, not "miamivolts").

Snap Links

Found the latest release of Snap Links for Firefox here. It lets you select and open multiple links like "diff" pages at the same time. Just remember to use wisely and still read through all the content you're patrolling. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:13, 27 December 2008 (EST)

I wanna be a Patroller!

I wish I was one, it would be cool... I would get a lot of chicks. :) (LOL) I really wanna be one though. Raiku 01:06, 5 January 2009 (EST)

  • Being a patroller definitely is a chick magnet. :) Keep up the editing, Raiku, build up the amount of quality edits you make to the wiki, and that might be a possibility. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:07, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • During my future wedding, my future wife's vows will be "and do you, DocM's future wife, take this Heroes Wiki Patroller, to be your lawfully wedded Heroes Wiki Patroller?" --DocM 17:12, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • How romantic! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:24, 6 January 2009 (EST)

What We Patrol

Recently I saw a comment made by Witchy2006 on TedC's talk page. Gabriel Bishop made an innocent comment and Witchy shot him down. I know they've had history but I think GB apologised on a number of times. I thoight this comment was quite insulting, do we mark this as patrolled or not? --IronyUTC CH 18:51, 14 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I am not too sure, I would leave it so an admin will see it, though I think they would anyway, I agree that what Witchy said was inappropriate and after the incident they did apologise, seems it may take a while for it to stop though. I did sign his comment though. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

    • It's Ted's talk page, he can remove it if he wants to. I just think the internet drama needs to stop.--Bob (talk) 20:05, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Did I do anything wrong :( ? Gabriel Bishop 20:13, 14 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop
        • No, it wasn't anything you did. You were trying to be nice to TedC, and someone made a snide remark that has nothing to do with Ted. --Bob (talk) 20:17, 14 March 2009 (EDT)

Recent patrols

I just wanted to say thanks to the patrollers. Recently I've been noticing more of the recent edits being patrolled. They're still not 100% (does anybody ever patrol user pages, theory pages, or image pages?), but they're certainly much better, and definitely on their way to getting where they need to be. I know it's a big wiki, and I know it's difficult to stay on top of all the edits. Thanks for all your hard work! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:00, 16 April 2009 (EDT)

  • Hey no problem thats what we are here for lol. I do patrol user pages but if am honest I never know what I can change, I just look for red links and formatting difficulties. Images I tend to avoid (dont know why) and theory pages (as they annoy me lol, and I never know exactly what you can delete on them). --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Talk 13:16, 16 April 2009 (EDT)

    • I feel the same way about theory pages--if I patrol one thing on it, I feel obligated to edit the entire page--and editing the grammar alone could take hours! :) On user pages, you really don't need to change anything (other than unnecessary red links). Patrolling user pages is really pretty easy--it's mostly just clicking on the "mark as patrolled" link. Nothing needs to be changed, usually. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:49, 16 April 2009 (EDT)
  • That's cool. I too try to keep away from the theory pages, user pages, etc. Great job guys! -- Tristan0709 talk 21:06, 16 April 2009 (EDT)

Patroller Nominations

I would like to nominate a few people to become patrollers:

  • Altes -- I think his edits have been very consistantly good and even now the hiatus has ended, most editors have dropped off, but Altes is still staying strong as a good editor (my only consern might be that he is slightly young on the wiki, but nothing major)
  • Josh -- His edits have always been very consistent, he always leaves summaries and is hardly ever wrong. (only concern would be that he sticks to the spoiler pages, but I think that a good spoiler patroller would be good).
  • Sorry just adding this now but... Anthony Gooch a great editor, always updates the wiki (only concern would be number of edits (?) a bit less than the other two)
  • Adding this one really supremely late but... Catalyst great editor, stuck around after the season has ended, overall, great :)

I think that all three of these would be a great addition to the team, just as well, I think there are others to consider if their quantity of edits increases, and Gabriel Bishop if his grammar and overall edit quality increases. --IronyUTC CH 12:41, 7 May 2009 (EDT)

  • Thanks for the suggestions, Irony. I think we're doing okay right now, but we'll probably want a few more patrollers before Season Four starts. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:44, 7 May 2009 (EDT)
      • I don't. I, personally, haven't seen a marked improvement in his edits. It would be prudent to keep in mind that his handling of Cockney Heroes has nothing to do with the site itself. Therequiembellishere 22:25, 22 May 2009 (EDT)
      • Sorry to jump of the bandwagon, but I didn't actually say GB, I said if his edits improved, I would prefer Altes, Josh and Anthony Gooch over him to be honest ... --IronyUTC CH 06:21, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
        • No offence Therewuiembellishere but everything apart from CH i have done recently has been helpful I think and CH is on Heroes Wiki so its a part of it Gabriel Bishop 06:40, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
          • Cockney Heroes is in the user-namespace and therefore is not part of the wiki --IronyUTC CH 13:44, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
              • This is not a put down, but work done in a userspace is not counted towards becoming a patroller, all work done in a userspace is personal and not included with Heroes Wiki. So all work I did on my userspace before becoming a patroller would not have been considered, but my work on Heroes Wiki would have. Just to clarify. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Talk 17:11, 23 May 2009 (EDT)

  • Thanks for all the suggestions, everybody. We don't currently have any need for new patrollers, what with the summer hiatus from the episodes, iStory, and even the decrease in the graphic novels for the next few months. However, when the episodes start up in September, we may have some need for new patrollers. The above suggestions will be considered. A reminder-patrollers should show aptitude in three areas: English usage, Heroes, and Heroes Wiki. Other things (like politeness and professionalism, number of edits, etc.) will also be taken into consideration. Just a quick note, though--I personally appreciate the suggestions, but I'd like to make sure that this thread doesn't devolve into a place where we talk about demerits of users who have been suggested. If you have a concern with another user, you can email me. My address is my username at heroeswiki dot com. Thanks, everybody. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:28, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
    • Thanks Ryan Gabriel Bishop 15:35, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
      • It doesnt matter anyway due to me doing NO work to the wiki apparently. So since that I have been told I do no work I am afraid im leaving Heroes Wiki for good. Thanks for the good memories Gabriel BishopUTC 08:26, 27 May 2009 (EDT)

Anthony for Patroller, he is very helpful and works hard why would we not upgrade him?-- By Danko CH 17:17, 4 June 2009 (EDT)

  • Because we don't need more patrollers at this point in time. We will probably need more patrollers when Season Four begins, and we will keep your suggestions in mind. --Radicell 22:01, 4 June 2009 (EDT)
    • With Season 4 about to start, I would like to recommened a few people to be patrollers, 1 - Leckie as his mainspace edits a generally good (could maybe do with some more though), 2 - Josh he works well on the spoilers and 3 - I think that either Joshuakorolenko or AgentJordan would be a great addition to the patrollers team.-- By Danko CH 15:33, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
      • I agree. Leckie would be a good patroller. I also think Danko should be considered. He is helpful and very kind to the other users.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 15:29, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
        • Thanks for saying that guys, I agree with Catalyst, Danko would be a great addition to the patrollers team :) --Leckie -- Talk 15:41, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Danko, I have a hard time taking your suggestions seriously. You previously suggested Gabriel Bishop to be a patroller, then reneged on that nomination. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:07, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
        • I did yes Ryan, my opinion had changed over tine and when I saw I was the only one on the side of GB 'I jumped ship' to the others who were previously arguing against me but I will remove the comments if they are too harsh.-- By Danko CH 16:13, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
          • I just wish that you would have left your comments alone, and put a comment later on that your opinion has changed, rather than making it appear as though you had never nominated him in the first place. Plus, the way it reads now, it looks like you have a personal vendetta against him, coming to this page to tear him down and insult him. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:15, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
            • OK, I see what you mean, sorry Ryan and GB, I shall remove the above comments, though just to make clear I did not intend to insult GB and I apologise if it read that way.-- By Danko CH 16:18, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
          • On another note, Before I make anybody new a patroller, I'd like to see which patrollers become active again when the season starts up. I'd also like to see if Heroes Wiki is as active as it was before (which I expect), and what need we have for new patrollers, if any at all. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:15, 7 September 2009 (EDT)
              • With the latest three added, will their be any more additions to the patrollers?-- By Danko CH 17:46, 6 October 2009 (EDT)

Theory pages

I don't visit the Theory pages a whole lot...but I was just taking a stroll over there and I noticed some things that we can all help with.

  • The word "None" is not a sentence, and should not have a period on the end of it. This is easily fixed by using your browser's page search function (CTRL + F on Firefox), and simply searching for "None." Then just erase the periods off the end of the words.
  • Spelling mistakes are rampant in the theory pages. My version of Firefox does spell checks. If your browser does too, then just do a quick glance down the page for misspelled words that are highlighted or underlined in red, or whatever your browser does to alert you of spelling errors.
  • Theory pages have lots of conversations on them. A good way to catch conversations without reading the entire Theory page is to search for multiple colons (:::). This is not a perfect way--it will not find every conversation, and not all multiple colons are conversations--but it's a pretty good indicator of a conversation. Conversations are to be held on the talk pages, not the Theory pages themselves. Most times, all that needs to be stated is a point and a counterpoint. The rest should be deleted.
  • Questions are not notes. You can find these pretty easily by just searching for question marks (assuming the editors used good grammar, which is gambling a lot!) Questions can either be changed into a sentence, or they can be deleted altogether. Sometimes questions are also a good way to find conversations, which also should be deleted.

Just thought I'd give everybody a couple quick and easy ways to help clean up the Theory pages. Thanks for all your help and hard work, guys! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:03, 24 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I'd say I'm somewhat guilty of quite some conversations, usually by presenting an argument which discredits another argument by someone else. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:24, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
    • No finger pointing from me. I don't ever check the history of Theory pages, unless I'm alerted to a possible case of vandalism or edit warring. However (and this is advice for everybody, not just Intuitive Empath), rather than carrying on the conversation on the Theory page, either 1) use the theory talk page, 2) talk to the individual on their user talk page, or 3) simply remove all traces of conversation. Point and counterpoint are fine; banter back and forth is not. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:24, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Patrollers

Though there may not be any more additions I would like to congradulate Josh and AJ for some great character histories and looking at recent changes Leckie should be credited as well, keep it up.-- By Danko CH 08:04, 1 November 2009 (EST)

  • Can I just say, looking at Recent changes, I think Yoshi n1 deserves some credit, he's a brilliant editor! Keep it up dude! -- Leckie -- Talk 14:15, 5 December 2009 (EST)

Character summaries

Hey, you great group of patrollers! I haven't been on the wiki in recent days because I've been busy with my growing family. It was brought to my attention that sometimes users are copying and pasting parts of the (excellently written) episode summaries and using that as a character summary. As a group of patrollers, I ask that if you see this happening, you edit these summaries. Episode summaries are written for a particular purpose, and character summaries have a different purpose. They are usually more general, and should always focus on the character. Feel free to edit them down to a more appropriate length, and to focus on the character--and remember that original writing is always better than copied writing.

Also, if you see this behavior from users, feel free to gently address it with them. Remember that they are not doing something wrong--or better put, they are doing their best to improve the wiki. So tread lightly if you feel you need to talk to the users about it. Thanks everybody...and thanks for all your continued hard work! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:42, 5 December 2009 (EST)

Backlogs (2)

We're starting to get backed up with unpatrolled edits again, I've purged a lot of the edits that weren't mine. I could do with some help though :) --Leckie -- Talk 12:29, 1 March 2010 (EST)

  • Thanks, Leckie. Oddly enough, that often happens when we're in hiatus. You would think it'd be the opposite, that the less edits there are, the easier it is to patrol them. However, during hiatus, people tend not to patrol as much. If it gets so bad that we need another patroller or two, let me know via email (ryangibsonstewart at heroeswiki dot com). -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:17, 1 March 2010 (EST)
    • Yeah, I don't really understand that. I guess some editors kinda drop off between seasons, so there'll be less to do. I'm not sure about more patrollers, I think the backlogs are just where they are from a couple days ago but people think "Oh someone else will get to them", which is what others think too so it never gets done. There are still a few patrollers doing some patrolling during the break, like IE, Yoshi, Mc Hammark, and a couple of the admins (to name a few) --Leckie -- Talk 15:54, 1 March 2010 (EST)
      • I'll try to get back in the loop more on this..."the more the merrier", but moreso, "the more the less work for the few"...right? --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 03/1/2010 16:42 (EST)
  • I'd love to help.... hint.... (I'm sorry if this sounds terribly cocky :P)--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 17:14, 1 March 2010 (EST)
    • Once again, purged all the edits that aren't mine, I'm not entirely sure but I think all edits that were possible to be patrolled have been. Maybe they became unpatrollable? --Leckie -- Talk 11:36, 2 March 2010 (EST)
  • Once again, getting very backed up. --Leckie -- Talk 10:47, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
    • I'll get on to some of it tonight. --mc_hammark 10:49, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
      • Awesome, I'm gonna do some now. Also you are the main person patrolling at the moment! o most of the edits are yours cause you can't patrol your own :L --Leckie -- Talk 10:51, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
        • I know. There was a time when every edit had been patrolled, then I looked at my own edits and there was a huge list. :L --mc_hammark 10:53, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
          • See here for a list of who has patrolled what. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:25, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
            • Ok, that's all the edits (bar mine and the ones after this is posted) patrolled. --mc_hammark 13:36, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
              • Brilliant :) I've just purged a load aswell, most of them yours xD --Leckie -- Talk 14:07, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
  • Bump. --Leckie -- Talk 11:41, 25 April 2010 (EDT)
    • Purged all the edits that aren't mine. --Leckie -- Talk 14:25, 29 April 2010 (EDT)
      • Only a couple of edits left to be patrolled (all mine). --Leckie -- Talk 10:52, 11 June 2010 (EDT)

There are two edits by Nero, to his user page which are impossible to patrol due to how hiw page is set up. Anybody help? --Leckie -- Talk 17:50, 2 July 2010 (EDT)

  • Impossible is such a strong word. Certainly a little trickier, but certainly not impossible. :). All taken care of! (Admin 18:07, 2 July 2010 (EDT))
    • I had tried to patrol those two same edits, which I couldn't. Thanks Admin :). And also I'm just curious how did you do it? Is it by trying different browsers or something? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:43, 4 July 2010 (EDT)
      • I couldn't see the link either because of the page format so I just constructed the URL manually. If you look at the URL when you patrol an edit you have two variables, action (which is set to "markpatrolled") and rcid which you can just get from the URL of the diff itself. (Admin 08:57, 4 July 2010 (EDT))
        • Thank you very much. That's very nice. I just checked it and learned to do it. I learned something new, thanks to you :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 05:31, 5 July 2010 (EDT)
