Destiny Interview

Hey everybody! I recently contacted Adam Armus and Kay Foster about conducting a brief interview about the webisode series they wrote, Destiny. I'll be emailing them questions, and I'd like to send them out by Friday (12/12) evening. Feel free to submit any questions you'd like below. I'll be choosing about 5 to 8 of the most probing, most open-ended questions. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:03, 11 December 2008 (EST)

  • Can we assume the questions should be only about Destiny?--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:06, 11 December 2008 (EST)
    • Pretty much. I think it makes for a better interview if the questions are a little more focused. Adam and Kay are being very generous to take some time to answer some questions now, so I'll respect that by only sending in a handful of questions. It'd probably be best if they were all about Destiny. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:31, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • I'll be sending the questions off in about an hour or two. If there are any last minute questions, send 'em in now! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:55, 12 December 2008 (EST)
    • I'm guessing you've already sent them in by now? :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:08, 13 December 2008 (EST)
  • Any word on the reply? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 17:40, 26 December 2008 (EST)
    • I just got an email back from Adam Armus. He's been on vacation and he said he'll get to the interview questions next week. .... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:33, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Destiny Questions

  • Destiny ended in a little cliffhanger with the S.L.W. waking up on the floor. Will we ever see these characters again, or is this it for Santiago and his crew?
  • Can you tell us more about Edward's ability? What do you call what Edward uses to electrocute the serious looking woman with? Is that something Santiago should be able to do as well using accelerated probability?
  • What challenges did you face in crafting a story about a character that was created by thousands of fans?
    • This isn't a bad question, but just pointing out for Ryan's benefit that the writers talk about this in the first behind the scenes video.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:55, 11 December 2008 (EST)
      • Heh. I added this question to sort of get the ball rolling. :) I actually have no plans in asking it for the exact reason you listed. But I also didn't want anybody to be offended if I didn't ask "their" question. That way I'm just cutting my own question out. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:56, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • Will we ever see any of these characters again?
    • Expanded: Destiny was called a Micro Series on NBC's website. Should we consider Destiny a separate universe from the one that Heroes exists in, complete with its own rules for abilities and its own set of characters? Are there any plans for a continuing story related to any of the Destiny characters in another webisode, episode or graphic novel? Is it possible any of the normal Heroes characters and Destiny characters might interact in some future story? Were there any cut scenes that you can tell us about?
  • What can you tell us about the serious looking woman, is she from Primatech and what are her origins? Or will we learn this?
    • Expanded: Is "SLW" the serious looking woman's codename in her organization? Also, was her name meant to mirror the name HRG applied to Noah Bennet? Can you tell us anything else about her character, such as her origins? Does she have a family like Noah?
    • You already mentioned that the serious looking woman was from a new organization--that means not Primatech or Pinehearst, right? Can you tell us anything else about her organization?
  • What is the meaning of the key the serious looking woman carries with her? Is the key what allowed her to survive Edward's attack on her?
  • I loved Homecoming and Our Father. How was it writing these great episodes? And have you written any stories in volume 4 yet?
    • I'm only sending in a handful of questions. I might ask Adam and Kay something like "What's next for you two?", but I'm really going to focus just on Destiny. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:29, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • What is the extent of Elisa's water mimicry? When she kissed Santiago after his soccer game, did Elisa rematerialize the syringe into her hand or was she keeping it somewhere hidden strapped to her body (instead of inside her body)? Did Elisa travel into Santiago's shower through the showerhead? Has she ever tried dematerializing / rematerializing other people; and, if so, to what extent was she successful?
  • Are there any references to or elements from your earlier works that you included in Destiny? Also, speaking of elements, you wrote in powers of fire, water and electricity/air into the webisode. Were they intentionally chosen for any parallels in the story? Any chance the hitman was meant to demonstrate an earth element ability (perhaps plant manipulation)? Then, you would have closely paralleled the principal Greek classical elements (fire, water, air and earth).
    • Love, referred to as another element in the film, The Fifth Element, seemed to be a common theme in Destiny as well. Was it just Edward's love for his wife and son that brought him back to safeguard them, or does Edward have other reasons for returning?
  • Is there any specific point you tried to pass through Destiny? Is there a real importance to the show's mythology in those episodes? Obi-Dan Kenobi 17:14, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • Where does Destiny fit in the show's main timeline? More specifically, in between what seasons do the events in the webisodes occur?
  • Did you decide to write the webisodes, or did NBC reach out to you with a story?
  • How/why did you decide that accelerated probability would have by-products such as speed and lightning? - Tristan0709 20:32, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • Did the SLW work for The Company or another organisation? - Tristan0709 20:32, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • Does SLW have a power? If so, what is it? Raiku 00:01, 12 December 2008 (EST)
  • Will Santiago appear at all in volume 4?
    • Will any of the characters featured in Heroes Destiny webisodes be in Volume 4?
  • In this Weisode series and the previous 'going postal' one their have been interesting characters. Other than a cameo from Angela Petrelli in Going Postal their has been little connection to the main Heroes, are you guys creating these webisode characters as filler or are you going to bring in some connections that Heroes is famous for?
  • Does the hitman have a power?
  • Seems like Edward and SLW had a very interesting past. Is it possible we'll get to know more about it?--Alen76
    • I've already sent in the questions. Sorry! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:03, 14 December 2008 (EST)
      • Oops! Ah, too bad... It seemed like a good question. Thanks anyway!--Alen76

Wow!

This is absolutely great. :) Answers a whole lot of questions. So I guess Edward's ability really is accelerated probability after all... Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:34, 7 January 2009 (EST)

  • Hmm...unless the SLW's organization is used on the show, seems like a loose end that will take a while to tie up, to me...But other wise, cool interview.--Crazylicious 22:36, 7 January 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah. They mentioned that they'd do more webisodes only if Sprint wants to do them. That kind of worries me. We might end up with another Caitlin, or worse (in my opinion), another Echo DeMille... Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:46, 7 January 2009 (EST)
      • Thanks, guys. Adam and Kay are great for answering questions. They really understand their fans. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:51, 7 January 2009 (EST)
        • Thanks! Another good interview, Ryan. It's cool that we got confirmation about the ability being the same. It would be nice to know as to whether SLW actually was her codename, and the question about the organization was already answered in the behind the scenes video. Just pointing those things out to help for next time (if there is a next time).--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:12, 7 January 2009 (EST)

Mobisodes?

Anyone got any idea where the term mobisode comes from?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:20, 7 January 2009 (EST)

My guess is "mobile episode." People can watch them on their Sprint phones and such. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 23:24, 7 January 2009 (EST)
Ah, that makes sense--likely cause they were sponsored by Sprint. I get it now. Thanks.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:26, 7 January 2009 (EST)
