Miami and its surrounding cities make up the fifth largest urban area in the United States. Its port has been the number one cruise/passenger port in the world for well over a decade accommodating the largest cruise ships and the major cruise lines. Bob claims that the Company converted a tsunami heading for the Eastern seaboard into a light snowfall that stretched south all the way through Miami, Florida.

While discussing Adam Monroe, Bob shows Nathan a November 21, 2006, Miami Bugle newspaper article that mentions a snowfall in Miami that occurred on January 19, 1977. Bob notes to Nathan that this event should have been a tsunami that would have wiped out the Eastern seaboard of the United States if the Company had not interfered.

- Miami is the only major U.S. city to have been founded by a woman, Julia Tuttle.
- The city is named after the Mayaimi tribe of Florida. "Mayaimi" means "big water" in their language.
- The nickname "The Magic City" comes from its rapid growth in the early 1900s, when it grew so rapidly it appeared to spontaneously become a city without ever being a town.
- Because of Miami's cultural and linguistic ties to North, South, and Central America, as well as the Caribbean, Miami is often referred to as "The Gateway of the Americas".
- The city of Miami is 55.27 mi2 in area, with 19.59 mi2 (35%) of that area being water.
