Under the Mask

Malina creates an aurora out of a storm.

A newscaster reports that scientists are baffled by recent anomalies in the Arctic Circle and that the northern lights have been seen as far south as Fort Albany, Northern Ontario.

The Needs of the Many

Malina revives a flock of butterflies in the Arctic. They fly off into an aurora.

Later, several different people see an aurora, much further south than usual. These people include Carlos Gutierrez in Los Angeles, Tommy Clark and Dr. Lopez in Carbondale, Noah Bennet and Quentin Frady in Colorado, Luke Collins in the U.S. Midwest, and Miko Otomo over the Pacific Ocean.

June 13th, Part Two

Angela Petrelli tells Noah Bennet that a sign that the H.E.L.E. is near is that the auroras will be seen further south than ever before. Noah tells her it's already happening in his time, 2015.

Heroes Evolutions

Brave New World

In the eBook Brave New World, a monarch butterfly makes its way through the Arctic, "into the incongruously warm air..., borne on a glorious thermal." The clouds swirl in "vibrant hues, curling and building into an aurora borealis that rose from the horizon". As Malina moves her hands, the swirls swirls of "spectacular color" create a powerful response from the clouds. The air becomes red and pink, swirling the clouds into new shapes.

Notes

  • With the start of Heroes Reborn, promotional posters included auroras that are either blueish-green, or the more uncommon red.
  • The logo for Heroes Reborn was changed to include an aurora.
  • When Emma Coolidge sees colors as part of her ability, the effect often resembles a small aurora.
