Omid Abtahi is the Iranian-American film and television actor who portrayed the engineer in the unaired pilot. His role was cut from the final show, although many elements of his character were rewritten into the character Theodore Sprague.

Omid has appeared in a number of television shows including Family Guy, Fringe, The Mentalist, Grey's Anatomy, Nikita, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Judging Amy, The Unit, and FlashForward, and has had recurring roles in Sleeper Cell and Over There. He appeared in the fourth season of 24 as "Safa", and again in the seventh season as "Jibraan Al-Zarian". In 2010, he had a recurring role in The Event, in which he portrayed "William", and in 2011 he had a recurring role on Homeland. Omid also worked on films such as Running with Scissors, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Ocean of Pearls, The Last Lullaby, Diplomacy, and Space Chimps.
