Brain Removal

This information was already covered in Sylar's Victims --Orne 23:11, 14 November 2006 (EST)

  • Agreed. It should probably be merged.--Hardvice (talk) 23:31, 14 November 2006 (EST)
    • Not all of Sylar's victims had their brains removed. As of this point in the show, we don't know for sure why Sylar is removing brains. I would like to see more outside information (and links) about brain removal, especially real-life examples. --Ryangibsonstewart
      • Sounds good. We can do some cleanup to separate the topics. --Orne 09:31, 15 November 2006 (EST)
  • It should be changed to "Brain Examination" because not every victim gets their brain removed, like Claire and several other victims have just gotten their brain examined, not removed. So tecnically Sylar doesn't have to remove the brain, only examinate it.

Screen Caps

Does anyone have access to screen caps of Jackie's murder? Cool sequence - I wish we could get some pics. Ryangibsonstewart 17:43, 21 November 2006 (EST)

  • What part? As he's splitting her head open? I'll grab one.--Hardvice (talk) 13:19, 28 November 2006 (EST)
    • Yeah, thanks, that'd be great, Hardvice ... much obliged! Ryangibsonstewart 15:10, 28 November 2006 (EST)

Caption for GIF

I can't seem to get a caption for the gif on this page. It's typed in, but won't show up. Any kind souls out there that can figure this out for me? Thanks! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:33, 29 November 2006 (EST)

Done! (Admin 23:39, 29 November 2006 (EST))
Oh, so that's how you do it! Thanks so much! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:45, 29 November 2006 (EST)

Proof of Encephalophagia

On the regular wiki there seems to be a bit of confusion on wether or not to classify Sylar as a cannibal or not. I know that that's no really our concern, but what are other people's thoughts on this?--Piemanmoo 20:17, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

  • The common theory, semi-confirmed by writers, is that he eats his victims' brains. Eating other humans = cannibalism. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:17, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
    • After watching Kindred, I think it's pretty clear that he isn't actually eating his victims' brains. After finishing whatever it is he needed to do to Candice to gain her ability, he stands up in full view. His hands are covered in blood, yet there isn't a drop on or around his mouth. Seemed like pretty definitive proof to me. --Yoshie 13:41, 9 Oct 2007 (EST)

D.L. removed the brain?

I figured he just crushed it or something...--Riddler 20:33, 16 May 2007 (EDT)

  • He sure seemed to have something more than just blood in his hand. I'd have to revisit a screencap to be sure. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:43, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
    • In the scene at the beginning of HtSaEM, on the ground you see his hand wide open, and no traces of "brain matter" around. --Riddler 21:16, 23 May 2007 (EDT)
      • It may be a while later, but I think this is still open to arguement.--Riddler 18:37, 9 October 2007 (EDT)

Alternate futures?

Are we sure there were two different futures in which Claire had died by Sylar's hand? I thought the first one was just misunderstanding on Future Hiro's part.

  • The first one we know if is from String Theory, when Sylar killed Claire at Homecoming, then became the bomb. FHiro stopped this by going back in time, meeting Peter on the subway, and giving him the message. The second killing happened in 2011 in Angela's home, as seen in Five Years Gone. I don't know of any misunderstanding on FHiro's part, unless you know something I don't know. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:30, 26 May 2007 (EDT)
    • What Ryan said. Future Hiro's memories aren't wrong; they're just of events that never happened after his trip to the past to meet Peter. Since he stabbed Sylar and watched him regenerate with his own eyes and watched him explode with his own eyes in the original timeline, it's a fairly safe bet that that's what actually happened. In the altered timeline, after his trip back in time to save Peter, he remembers Sylar being the bomb, which didn't happen. Everybody else thinks Sylar was the bomb, but that's because Nathan covered up Peter's involvement. So everybody else is mistaken, but Future Hiro's just remembering the wrong past.--Hardvice (talk) 12:06, 26 May 2007 (EDT)
      • It's possible he's wrong. He probably wasn't there as the explosion occurred or else he'd have been killed, so he probably teleported away at some point prior. Like everyone else he may just believe that it was Sylar. So unless Future Hiro said at some point that he watched Sylar explode with his own eyes I think the safest thing is to not necessarily claim that it WAS Sylar, but instead just make sure any references are worded that Hiro claims or says that it was Sylar. (Admin 12:15, 26 May 2007 (EDT))
        • This is Hiro we're talking about, he must've seen it with his eyes or else he wouldn't have assumed it was Sylar, if it was Peter. Now it's understandable that Future Hiro thought it was Sylar in the "Peter" exploding timeline, because the bomb went off so he must've assumed it was the same person. On top of that, I'm pretty sure Hiro saw Sylar glowing, almost exploding, but I think someone like Future Hiro would make absolutely sure who the person it was that exploded before toying with the past. This isn't something you're going to trust people with, no matter if they're the most trusting people that tell you it was Peter. When toying with the past, you better make sure you know what you're messing with, or else you could really mess up the future. So Hiro had to have absolutely known Sylar was the one exploding in his timeline. But saving Claire at Homecoming changed the bomb from Sylar to Peter. --Dman dustin 05:01, 24 September 2008 (EDT)

Claire's brain

Does Claire's brain go under attempted brain removals or an actual brain removed? He got the power but he didn't need to take the brain.--Rayhond 03:08, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

  • He took something from it. I would put it under actual removal. Besides, the distinction is less about the brain being removed, and more about Sylar's success in what he is trying to do. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 03:17, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
    • Did he? It looked as if he just put his fingers in her brain. --Bob (talk) 03:19, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
      • Not something physical necessarily, I didn't get that. But he got her power--which is what he was after all along. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:02, 23 September 2008 (EDT)
        • He also did something physical to Claire's brain... he cut the nerve endings so she could no longer feel pain. There was a line later in the episode where Sylar tells Noah something like: Ouch, that hurts... I feel pain, I got that from your daughter (along with her ability).--MiamiVolts (talk) 05:12, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

Infobox template edit

Hey, I can't find the infobox template, to add the Examples of brain removal link. Anyone know where the template for it resides? --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/24/2008 10:09 (EST)

I think i got it

The Reason Why Sylar removes the brains its because by touching them he let his fingertips there and he could be caught. He did not done that to either Bishop or Claire maybe because he himself seemed powerful now and no longer had any fear of being caught or murdered (Manwithnoname 05:45, 4 October 2008 (EDT))

Fingerprints in the brain? Is it possible to examine brains and see fingerprints? Mateussf 22:26, 5 April 2009 (EDT)

Too much of a stretch for me, even considering CSI. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:12, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

Intriguing

Check out these two pics, side-by-side. The first is the "unidentified man" Sylar kills, in a photo shown to Eden McCain. The second is Isaac Mendez. Ricard Desi 12:38, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

  • Yes, it's the same dummy used. Check out this picture, too. See the trivia here and here, too. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:39, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
    • D'oh. I'm surprised I didn't check that first. Ricard Desi 11:58, 29 October 2008 (EDT)
      • Nah, it just means you came to the same conclusions on your own that others came to on their own. Well done! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:55, 29 October 2008 (EDT)

New brain removals.

Elle's more recent deskulling, and Sarah Palin *ahem* I mean Sue Landers. Mr. Zeitlan too--FlamingTomDude 23:28, 9 December 2008 (EST)

Elle under victims with brains removed?

I don't think Elle's brain was removed, or even exposed. I think Sylar only cut her head open to kill her, not to take her power, as he wouldn't need to do that anyway. Should we put her under the attempted brain removal victim list? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 17:02, 13 December 2008 (EST)

Name change?.

Change article name to brain exposure?

  • Looking at this picture, it appears Charlie's brain was not removed. There were other victims whose brains were left in their heads (Claire for one). I think brain removal is not the most accurate term. --Yamawhata? 12:40, 7 February 2009 (EST)
    • That's a very good point. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:45, 7 February 2009 (EST)
      • I agree 110% ---- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 14:10, 7 February 2009 (EST)
    • Defo, but possibly 'Scalping' (correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that what it means?) --IronyUTC CH 14:58, 7 February 2009 (EST)
      • 'Scalping' is merely removing the scalp, this would leave the skull exposed, not the brain. --Ross R. Smith 12:51, 1 March 2009 (EST)
  • Rename to brain examination works for me. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 13:27, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Brain examination would be the best choice. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 03/11/2009 07:02 (EST)
      • No one seems to be opposed. Shall we move, then? -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 17:19, 27 March 2009 (EDT)
