Elemental control is a common name for this ability that fits both what has appeared in the story and a description in an interview by the actress who portrays the possessor of the ability. |
I intend to place some text under a subheading titled "notes" but am unable to make it appear on the page. The text is as follows:
- Malina causes the tree to grow on Farah giving her the command, "Earth". Based on this and how Malina's actress described her power as resembling those of benders in the series Avatar: The Last Airbender, it can be postulated that the "elements" described in the name of this ability refer to the four classical elements as opposed to chemical elements.
I've tried multiple times, but it hasn't been appearing. I'm new to the system on this wiki. Goodcop fatcop (talk) 04:35, 11 October 2015 (EDT)
- Someone forgot to close a hide bracket that resulted in the rest of the page being hidden. It should show up now. -Kon (talk) 05:01, 11 October 2015 (EDT)
Slowing effect on 1st Solar flare?
Is there enough evidence to point towards Malina, Tommy, Luke, and/or others slowing down the first solar flare using their abilities? It did seem to hang there in the sky for a bit, though perhaps the wiki can attribute its slowness to dramatic effect?--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:21, 23 January 2016 (EST)
- Malina and Tommy did nothing with the first flare. Luke dispersed that one after preventing Malina from doing anything. That was all Luke. It was the second flare that this power was used on. I think the first flare was close but just hadn't reached the Earth yet. Micah said it would hit at 11:18. It was about that time when they reached the Clock Tower and the time on the clock during the fight with Phoebe several minutes after Luke's death said 11:20.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 19:34, 23 January 2016 (EST)
- I think Malina looked to be already using her ability against the 2nd flare when Tommy got there... the twin power of Malina and Tommy looks to me to temporarily place an electromagnetic field around the Earth. What I am unsure about is whether the first flare was slowed down any by Luke and/or anyone else before it was dispersed by Luke.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:22, 23 January 2016 (EST)
- Oh she was, she just didn't have the strength to do it by herself. Hence Tommy needing to boost her power. I just don't get how her power was able to effect the flare like that. As for the first it wasn't slowed down. Luke specifically stopped Malina from trying.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) 22:27, 23 January 2016 (EST)
- I'm thinking Malina was sending electromagnetic blasts at the 2nd flare slowing it down some, though it's hard for me to tell if Tommy/Nathan's time-space manipulation also played a part, or perhaps others with abilities might have been helping. As for the first flare, I think you are correct that Luke pushes Malina inside the building when he goes to disperse the 1st flare, and then Quentin restrains Malina so she can't actively interfere with her ability for the first flare. However, I think solar flares normally travel at near the speed of light so I was wondering if anyone noticed anything that might point to an ability slowing it down. If only the CME portion of the solar flares were entering the atmosphere, then that might make more sense as CME's typically travel with speeds ranging between 12 and 1250 miles per second according to NASA Visible Earth. I guess it's also possible this was an atypical set of solar flares that traveled to Earth slower for some natural reason.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:33, 23 January 2016 (EST)
