Template talk:GN/test
To me, this makes the most sense. It cleans up a lot of junk on the page, including all those external links and unnecessary categorization. Plus, it's an easy way to update everything on a mass scale. For instance, I personally don't like having a separate section for "Direct Image Links" (so I simply included it in the External Links)...but if we one day decide we want a separate section for something, it's really easy to do with one edit, rather than 40+ edits. - Hmm, does having this template preclude adding other external links on an individual basis? I would leave that header out of it, but other than that I like the idea.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:07, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
- External links can still be added using the otherlinks variable, and if the header is the last one of the bunch, it doesn't throw anything off. However, it's probably a good idea to take off the header, that way the header can be done manually, then any external links done the regular way, and then the template can start. The only reason I didn't do that was because I was thinking that any "extra" external links should go beneath the regular ones, but I suppose it doesn't matter one way or another. I'll take care of that now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:33, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
- Another option is to include the pages in Template:Graphic Novel sidebar, though I'd prefer to see them in the External Links section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:59, 7 August 2007 (EDT)

Slight reboot
Okay, I fixed it up a bit so it would easily include up to twelve pages with minimal input on the GN page. Plus, it's not that hard to add an extra page if we get a GN with 13 pages, for instance--just copy the code and change 6 numbers (all 12s become 13s). I ran a few test cases at the sandbox, including samples of all the ones I thought might give us problems. Take a look and let me know what y'all think. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:02, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
- Nicely done, Ryan. The max # of pgs. in Season One was 12, so I think we're fine there and the samples look good.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:09, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks. I think I'll just wait to get some more feedback tomorrow before I make any major changes. I did find one problem, though--page 5 of Monsters uses a lowercase s instead of an uppercase one, like all the other pages for that issue. I might have to just do a manual override for that page only. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:12, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
- Looks good, The only GNs that have other external links are Fathers and Daughters and How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?, Part 1 with Line art by The Kotzebue Bros. and Golden Handshake, Part 3 with the Video interpretation, so it could work. "Images of pages:" sounds a little weird and I would prefer "Page 1" instead of just "1". -Lөvөl 14:00, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
- I'm afraid having "Page 1, Page 2, Page 3..." will get quite long, especially on the Badower novels that have 12 pages each. I don't mind changing "Images of pages", though -- I just didn't like "direct image links". Any suggestions? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:00, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
- <talking to self> Maybe "Full page images--Page: 1 · 2 · 3..." -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:05, 8 August 2007 (EDT)
