Matt actually has the ability of enhanced intelligence. Matt excels in school. + Matt knows pi to at least twenty-five places. This might indicate that he calculated them in his head, something that enhanced memory would not allow (The Man with Too Much Brains).
- Matt, his classmates, and the opening text all refer to memory.
- Matt probably memorized pi a long time ago.
As there is an entire subculture (for lack of a better word) devoted to memorizing pi (called piphilology), with a world record of 100,000 decimal places in the real world by someone without any super powers, a memory power causing someone to remember 25+ decimals is well within reason.
Matt will eventually appear in the TV series. None + He may be one of the "younger generation characters" that has been mentioned for Volume 3. [1]

+ In one of the Volume Three trailers, Sylar is shown attacking someone who shares a resemblance to Matt.

- It's actually from a deleted scene from Season Two where Sylar kills someone with the power of impenetrable skin.
- It is unlikely that the writers would have Sylar meet another evolved human with enhanced memory since he already "met" Charlie.
+ That could be used as a plot device to make Sylar into pure evil - he no longer cares about gaining new abilities, but simply wants to rid the world of other evolved humans.

+ Matt could become one of the new villains. After all, he was humiliated, tested, and fooled by Elle and his classmates. He could want revenge.
- The most recent novel has Matt dead, the only possibility of a TV appearance now is in a possible flashback sequence for Elle.

+ Theoretically, it is possible that since Matt died while linked with a computer mainframe that he could become a cyberspace entity similar to Hana and Drucker (See the related theory below).
Matt's ability has to do with a second "higher" form of thinking. None + The title of Matt's first graphic novel refers to having "too much" brains, perhaps the writers allude to Matt having "two" brains. (The Man with Too Much Brains)

+ In the graphic novel, Matt says to Elle "I thought you were supposed to protect me". One could claim that the Haitian erased the memory of Matt after the testing, but Matt still remembered it.

- There is no proof that the Haitian used or tried to use his power on Matt.

A fellow student refers to Matt having a brain like a search engine, perhaps the writers are alluding to something.

It's actually Matt's brain in the Company vault. None + Elle states that the Company would find a way to retrieve the mainframe information stored in Matt's brain. (Hana and Drucker's Plot Discovered)

- The events in The Man with Too Much Brains and Hana and Drucker's Plot Discovered take place in 2008, which is after the events in Powerless.

Matt's story could not possibly take place in 2008, as Bob appears (several times) during the course of the story, holding the same position he held during Powerless, while being dead in current continuity, which now takes place in 2007.
While the banner does indicate that it is 2008, the presence of the Haitian indicates that this may have occurred before Mohinder cured him in Lizards, unless he rejoined the Company off-screen since escaping them in that episode. If it did take place earlier, the banner may be a mistake on the writer or artist's part.

- In The End of Hana and Drucker, Matt's brain appeared to liquefy and deteriorate due to the strain on his mind, making it unlikely that the Company would have his preserved brain, at least in as good condition as the one in the vault.

The red liquid pouring out of his ear could have been blood, not his brain.
Matt's consciousness was uploaded to the Company's new computer system in The End of Hana and Drucker. None + If his brain works like a computer, his consciousness may have been transferred along with his memories.

+ This would mean that he will survive in a similar form that Hana and Drucker have.
+ If Matt memorized the entire mainframe, which would include Hana and Drucker, they will be with him in the new mainframe, where he will learn about who he has been working for from them.

Matt's fate was and that of Elle and Bob were changed by timetravel. None + He died in 2008, when Elle and Bob were here. Since they died in 2007, perhaps Hiro's timetravel changed things.
- While the banner said 2008, it didn't necessarily happen in 2008. Sometimes an event for something in a year takes place in the year prior to said event, such as college admission exams.
