- Benjamin Washington, Knox, took this name for unknown reasons prior to manifesting his ability.
- Flint Gordon, Pyro, is named for his super hot ability.
- Emile Danko, The Hunter, referenced by Noah Bennet in Trust and Blood.
- Eric Doyle, The Puppet Man, referenced in multiple episodes, once called "Freak with the puppets" by Claire Bennet.
- Daniel Linderman, Austin, name taken from his Vietnam War codename.
- Arthur Petrelli, Papa Petrelli, named for being the father of Peter Petrelli and Nathan Petrelli.
- Adam Monroe, Kensei, named for his time as Kensei, in which he became a villain.
- Maury Parkman, The Nightmare Man, named by Molly Walker in The Kindness of Strangers.
- Bob Bishop, King Midas, named for his golden ability.
- Stephen Canfield, Vortex, named for his destructive ability.
- Baron Samedi, The Baron, named for taking the title of Baron.
- Candice Wilmer, Betty, named for her villainous times as the gothic teenager Betty.
- Eric Thompson Sr., Agent Thompson, named for being a high ranking officer within the Company who is adressed by last name only.
- Echo De Mille, The Mailman, named after his old job of being a mailman, in which his villainous path started.
- Danny Pine, Metal Man, named after his metallic ability.
- Luke Campbell, The Apprentice, named for being the "student" of the all-time-big-bad, Sylar.
- Samson Gray, Original Boogeyman, named for being the first superpowered serial killer who stole the abilities of others.
- The German, The German, his actual alias that he uses instead of his name.
