Description
Empathic Skill Absorption is the act of acquiring the abilities of others through sensing their emotional trigger(s) for their ability. When first used, Ethan acquired an ability in this manner completely by accident by developing a strong emotional bond with a person, however in future applications, Ethan was able to acquire the abilities of others after concentrating for a short period of time. Even when not attempting to acquire abilities, Ethan can sense the emotions, wants and desires of others, even non-specials, while in proximity to them. He can even sense the emotional triggers for an ability without absorbing it. Ethan appears to have a subconscious limit on his ability as he can only absorb a limited number of abilities before having to discard abilities to acquire new ones. If he attempts to absorb new abilities without first discarding one then his power does not function. He has control over the abilities that he discards however, simply needing to think about removing them to lose them. One side effect of this ability is that the abilities absorbed through it are highly affected if the user is emotionally compromised. Ethan has not demonstrated absorbing a passive ability like regeneration or lie detection so it is not known how he would absorb such abilities that don’t have traditional emotional triggers.
