• Thought you might want to know. "personal" (per'-son-ul) means something that belongs to you. "personnal" isn't a word, however "personnel" (per-son-ell') (emphasis on the last syllable) refers to a group of people employed by a group or organization. On the attitudes of the French toward the French Canadians and non-native speakers of French....

I hear stories (my aunt included) of those learning French being given the cold shoulder when they try to use French while they are in France. My aunt, while being a foreign exchange student about 25 years ago, got lost in Paris, traid to ask for help, only to find that no one could understand her and herself brushed off because of it. Classmates in my Spanish class who have studied French and were in France have sensed that the general attitude of the French is "if you cant speak French correctly, F*** you" and that their attitude toward French Canadians is less that favorable. I'd like get the French perspective on this before I formulate my opinion on it. Might you provide some?--SacValleyDweller (talk) 03:47, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
