Deja True!

I noticed that on an earlier talk page someone mentioned that this season is mirroring things that already happened...just thought I'd point out Sylar in this episode and Peter in season 2, both of which had:

    • amnesia
    • quickly greeted by a young woman
    • discovered they had abilities by tossing someone across a room, spitting bullets from their abdomen, and using electric manip.

....does anyone else see this...creepy huh?--Anthony Gooch 21:19, 12 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Its not creepy - it is simply unimaginative. It is an example of the show's writers regurgitating the same ideas over and over. --Stang 07:24, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
  • One little thing reminded me of the past; Sylar's hair being reminiscent of Peter's from season 1.--Halfxwitted 22:06, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Whoa! Nice catch! I think you're right about that! But I don't think his hair was like Peter's. Peter had that long emo hair strand. Sylar's hair looked more like Gabriel Gray's; combed back and clean. It's just symbolizing that he's a 'good guy' at the moment.--Kooliki 23:49, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
  • And we almost had another Bus accident victim! --Juba 12:06, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

Lead image

Considering that hysterical blindness is really a conversion disorder where people are seeing things (or not seeing things), I think Claire's storyline would be a good one to use as the lead image. A few choices: when Gretchen kisses her, when she looks out the window with Becky standing right there, or when Becky purposely knocks over the books and Claire is in the background. Any thoughts? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:03, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Of those three, I say the 2nd of those. However, think any of those would be a little too spoilery (meaning the the image gives too much away about the ep). I cant think of the ep off the top of my head, but I think the initial ep lead image on an ep in a season prior was promptly changed due to it being too spoilery. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:24, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Good point. Another direction to go would be Peter seeing the colors. Perhaps Emma and Peter playing the piano together? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:42, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Or how about Sylar being found in the woods by Captain Lubbock while disoriented? I vote for either Claire's shocked face or some shot of a confused Sylar. Those were the key scenes of the episode. "Hysterical" first makes me think of Sylar's confused identity. Another option would be Emma not seeing the truck coming at her. NileQT87 04:56, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
        • I believe this can be considered. And this one as well. --Radicell 06:29, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
          • How about an image of the police being unable to see Sylar or the carnival? Just the police looking shocked in that direction doesn't seem that spoilery. --Kh93 10:48, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Image:Another theory Hysterical Blindness.JPG is a good choice. I like it. I had forgotten that Emma said that. Good call! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:06, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I'm not a big fan. It's a second time in a row that we're using an image that has subtitles saying the episode's name. That's not what the lead image is for.. It's for presenting a storyline (or storylines) in the episode, also mirroring the episode's theme. Showing it, literally, isn't it. Obi-Dan Kenobi 00:21, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
      • I agree. They aren't the best they can be..~~IHHTalk 06:59, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
        • These last several pictures have been atrocious, actually. The only one I like is Orientation (and even that should be Claire arriving on campus). There are better captures of Jump, Push, Fall. Ink perhaps could be a little more exciting with the spinning compass. Acceptance should be a "Nathan"/Millie related capture, IMO. That's what the episode is most about. Hysterical Blindness was, IMO, largely a Sylar interrogation episode or perhaps something about Becky's invisibility pranks. We should really start using captures that not only visualize the title, but ones that also represent the episode in some way. The choices for this season are horrid compared to the captures used for past seasons. And subtitle pictures need to be stopped. Most are horribly generic and not at all the most memorable. NileQT87 19:38, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Okey doke. Let me what else I can find. Maybe something a bit more dynamic, or a bit more representative of the episode, rather than just a caption that says the name of the episode. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:37, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
            • That's perfect, Ryan!

Shape Shifting Revertation

In the interest of sparking a friendly debate, why did Sylar (as Nathan) revert to his original form after being "killed" (shot to the chest) and burried; yet the original shape-shifter, James Martin, kept the form of Sylar when he was killed? My only explanation is it boils down to Sylar's powers instinctively restarting/taking over, but I don't know why that would force him to change his form. It seems kinda deus ex machina to me.--Halfxwitted 01:05, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I think the difference is that Sylar can regenerate. James Martin couldn't. My bigger question is why did Peter absorb Emma's ability without "trying to", but he didn't absorb Samuel's when he touched Samuel. Hmm... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:08, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
    • "Empathy" is the best reason I can think of - he cared more about Emma, or at least what was happening to her. Of course, he didn't absorb Nathan/Sylar's ability when they hugged last episode, either. --Mikebdoss 03:38, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Heh, it would be cool if Peter will retain Emma's ability forever, as he has absorbed it through empathy... =) AltesUTC CH
        • Interesting aspect of Peter's power there. He clearly lost super speed, so the question is whether he absorbed Emma's ability by accident (nobody has perfect control over their ability, after all), or whether he can empathically copy an ability after some work, like Sylar can. As for why it hasn't happened before, it's obviously a new development, so it probably just evolved between his last physical contact with an evolved human and when he helped Emma. We'll know whether this is the start of him getting multiple powers again once he tries to drop Emma's ability for something else. As for Sylar, one's DNA stays the same even while shifted into another form, so I'd wager whenever he regenerates he regenerates into his actual body, not Nathan's. Swm 05:10, 13

The Carnival Can Teleport Away?

I noticed that at the end of this episode, Sylar ran into the carnival and then when the police followed him it was gone. Does that mean there is an illusion over it that renders the carnival un-seen or it was teleported away by Arnold.. Or did the police just go a different way then Sylar, and the writers are trying to trick us?

  • I'm thinking that it was either Samuel doing a Sparrow Redhouse by moving the land away or someone at the carnival has Candice Willmer's power of illusion-making. The carnival is still there, but can't be seen by people that the illusionist is affecting. This would make sense, seeing as though it gave the illusion of being exactly in the same place (though Sylar's eyesight seemed blurred/overwhelmed), but the Baltimore Police Department was blind to it. NileQT87 05:00, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Definetly Illusion or Terrakinesis for that one. I wouldn't be surprised if Samuel could raise a wall of earth or something to block their route, but Illusion's probably more likely. I doubt it's the Carnivel itself.Swm 05:06, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
      • or the old guy teleports it around for them--Gibbeynator 06:26, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
        • What I was thinking was that Becky hid it, or it can only be seen by Evolved humans...~~IHHTalk 06:59, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Well we know that it can be seen by normal humans, like Dee in Istory Slow burn part 2. --mc_hammark 07:02, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Rebecca was back at the college when the carnival moved. Arnold, being sick and old, is highly unlikely to be able to move such a large collection of objects and people. I don't exactly know what the police saw, but we know the carnival has an Illusionist in their ranks from the iStory, so that seems the most likely outcome. Swm 10:29, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
            • Chop it up to my active imagination, once again, but from the very introduction of Madeline Gibson, I got a strange vibe from her. Strange enough to have powers and work undercover for Samuel. I wouldn't rule out that she had a power similar to creating illusions.--Halfxwitted 15:09, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
              • I'll be surprised if she doesn't. The other doctor "retiring" is too convenient. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:33, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
                • Seriously people, they have a carnival/family of people with abilities, many of which we haven't seen used yet. Carnival should have some "master of illusion" or something that Samuel could ask to help him pick up Sylar. (sorry, forgot to sign)--Jas3point14 18:51, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • They do. His name is Callum.--Ratclaws 18:52, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
                    • I just watched the episode for the first time, but I definately heard the teleportation/STM sound ques just before and after the carnival appeared and disappeared. PowerSink
  • It was definately Arnold teleporting the carnival with space time manipulation. The lights on the surrounding area appear and disappear with the carnival. Also you can definatley here Hiro's teleportaion sound effect . . . I don't see why people don't understand this. --D Toccs 08:08, 15 October 2009 (EDT)
    • It's definitely possible. I wouldn't say it's definitely the case. It remains unconfirmed how the carnival disappeared. It was written that way, too--the audience is supposed to feel pretty much the way the officers do: "What happened? Where did it go?" We are not meant to have a full understanding of how it happened...yet. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:31, 15 October 2009 (EDT)

Which power

So which power was it that allowed Sylar to do this? --Radicell 07:25, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I'd say telekinesis, since he's used that to turn lights on and off before. --mc_hammark 07:26, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I thought that was just an emergency mesure taken by the police station when the alarm went off. Besides, Sylar has still no control over his abilities, he still doesn't know what they are. --Ikkian 09:14, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Seems very counter-productive for all the lights to turn off in the dark police station as a security measure. Why create an atmosphere where a threat can easily hide or attack from the shadows?--Halfxwitted 15:15, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
        • He really isn't in control of his powers. I doubt he did itGamerelite1 17:49, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Prolly Telekinesis, he was running away, scared, and we all know when people with abilities get scared their powers emerge, even if they don't have control over it, just look at the example of the latest episode with emma, and alot of other examples can be found troughtout the series, hope this clear this up.  WaterRatj (17/10/2009 @ 08:43)

Wow. That was a really good episode, and Tracy wasnt even in it! Also, the trivia bit says Greg Grunberg was credited for saying the 'previously', but i did not see a credit. I really like the last scenes, starting with Emma finding the cello. It's different from what the show has used in the past, it's very ellegant, the transition between Emma playing the cello to the other scenes, but keeping the cello as the background music. The crescendo when the scene changes back to Emma and her apartment starts to shake because of the cello, and the slice in the end, I'd like to think that Emma's character will grow, just like that scene. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:20, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I liked that scene a lot, too. It reminded me of the last scene of Landslide, where we saw all the other characters in various succession as Nathan gave his acceptance speech. I like scenes that break from the norm a bit. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:02, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

The Toaster Woman

What are we doing with her power? Heating? Induced Radioactivity? Microwave Emission? Or are we just gonna call it Camise's ability, the ability to have one's hand shine brightly and cook waffles? Josh KorolenkoUTChronicles

I would say "heating", because all we know thus far is that it can heat up things she touches. --Silurian King 10:23, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
Temperature manipulation! Or even better - Wafflekinesis... AltesUTC CH

Temperature manipulation actualy sounds like a good idea since we already have it listed. We dont know if she can also reduce temperatures, but I'd rather avoid another one of the power debates again. Let's just hope Ryan can get a clear answer from the writers into what power we saw with the waffle-iron lady. And if they say "I DUNNO WAFFLECOOKINGKINESIS LOL", I will probably develop Ted's power and detonate myself.--Piemanmoo 02:58, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

The Toaster Woman's Name

The closed captioning spells the name "Comey", and Samuel refers to her as such. It sounds like "Comise" because he's saying "Mrs. Comey's waffles." "Comey's" = "Comise", soundalike-wise. I've edited the character appearances accordingly for now. --CourtesyofTVRage.com 10:50, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

  • "Comey" makes more sense. We don't typically use the closed captioning as a source for our names...but they can give us a good clue. And to me, I agree, it sounded more like "Comey". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:04, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

    • The character isn't credited. This may reflect the confusion noted above, where Samuel says "Mrs. Comey's waffles" and somebody(s) thought he was saying "Comise" or "Camise". "Camise Comey" just sounds...kinda dumb. And saying "Mrs. Camise waffles" doesn't make any sense. --CourtesyofTVRage.com 12:06, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Agree. That name has somehow spun out of control. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:47, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

Waffle Cook has an ability?

The elderly woman cooking the waffles at the carnival has an ability right? She was heating the waffle cooker with her hands touching it (her hand turned red when she wanted to heat them). Any ideas what this ability might be?--Catalyst · Talk · HL 18:47, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

The sorority pledge was portrayed by Kat Purgal, while Kara Hayback was portrayed by Carrie Wiita. --Radicell 19:58, 13 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I believe the sorority pledge was portrayed by Audrey Povar. Kat Purgal is Zach Craley's girlfriend who was the inspiration for Sparrow Redhouse...Although I just checked out Kat's website, and her resume lists her acting on Heroes. Perhaps there she played another sorority pledge? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:47, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Yep, this image is definitely Kat Purgal. Good catch! I'll update. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:09, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
      • So I guess that rules her out as Sparrow. Sigh... We aren't going to see Sparrow on the show ever I bet.--Ratclaws 22:34, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
  • I'm removing links to Audrey Povar until we can find her character. I'm sure she's in there somewhere...but until we find her, there's no point in having an article about her. Her credit only came from IMDb, which is a good source, but shouldn't be trusted 100% (especially since its content is user-driven). If we talk to her, or find her image in the episode, we can re-add the image and the article. Incidentally, not that it necessarily matters, but Heroes is not listed on Audrey's resume at the moment... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:36, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

Theory about what happened to Sylar

My theory is that when he regenerated, it caused him to turn back into his normal form. Also, my theory is his regeneration being reactivated caused the damage to his brain caused by Matt's telepathy to be healed (remember Linderman said using telepathy like that left scars which he was able to heal and Peter was able to use regeneration to heal what the Haitian did to him) and erased the Nathan persona, but since the Sylar persona is stuck in Matt's head, there's nothing there unless Matt returns Sylar to his own body which should fix things.--WarGrowlmon18 12:28, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Sounds simple enough. Matt's power is different from the Haitian so they remove memories differently. At the end of Acceptance I was thinking, "Oh great, Sylar's back, his memory should be healed so he can go about getting revenge, while the Sylar in Matt's head is slowly taking over Matt." I seriously thought we might end up with 2 Sylars (the real one and the one in Matt's head which if he could control Matt eventually, could use Matt's power to make people believe he looks like whoever). The way it's going now, I don't even know if my dreams of Sylar killing all the clowns at the carnival will come true. --Jas3point14 20:10, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I definitely don't want sylar coming back too soon. I like gabriel.Gamerelite1 21:58, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

Additional Trivia?

Maybe include a small blurb about Milo's mini-short film thing that involved Masi; the one at the start of a commercial break? I'd assume it would go on the Trivia section...but perhaps maybe it is just suitable on the Heroes Wiki Main Page.--Halfxwitted 12:33, 15 October 2009 (EDT)

Peter is a horrible person!!!

There is no way he has got any type of empathy back yet. When he couldn't run fast he was so angry that he kicked a trash can and it rolled a distance away. He was so inconsiderate of whose trash can it was. That person now has to walk a distance to pick up a dirty trash can just because Peter had a tantrum. Well "boo hoo". What a beep! --mc_hammark 18:36, 15 October 2009 (EDT)

  • And your an idiot. He was pissed as first of all, he may have needed that to get work on time, secondly he uses it to save people and thirdly he was frustrated as his powers seemed to disappear (he didn't realize he'd taken another one until he kicked that trashcan).--WarGrowlmon18 18:46, 15 October 2009 (EDT)

Cello

Even though it appeared only twice, and they were two different cellos, I think we should consider making an article about the instrument. It appears the cello might be a recurring object for Emma, and we have already seen a cello in Bob's office a couple times. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:47, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

Just Wondering...

In the summary for this episode, it says Becky arrives with the other sorrorities to welcome in Gretchen and Claire, when I watched it again Becky wasn't there...! Is this just me or does anyone else notice it? Sorry if this seems a stupid question to ask --Ellexoxo 16:41, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I haven't gone back to review, but I'm pretty sure Becky was there. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:20, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Just checked again... the only sorrority sisters I can see who welcomes them to the sorrority are Allison and Kara Hayback. No Becky. Weird huh ? This scene is just after when Claire and Gretchen kiss, then there's a knock at the door and they're welcomed in to the sorrority. Thanks for listening anyway! :) --Ellexoxo 14:46, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
