Good call, my friend. Good call. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:13, 1 October 2008 (EDT)
- I figured you'd get a kick out of my edit summary, too. :) (Admin 01:14, 1 October 2008 (EDT))

Character Doubles
- Hi there Admin, i just wanted to report that Mr. Linderman is on the supporting cast and on the minor cast. I don't know if this is a coincidence or if it needs to be there but i justed wanted to make a report of it. --Futurepeter 08:13, October 1, 2008 (EDT)
Visual Effects Interviews
If you look here you will see I have interviews with lots of visual effects guys, could you please advertise these interviews along the top as I am struggling for questions and I do not have the dvds, thanks.--Skywalkerrbf 17:03, 6 October 2008 (EDT)
Embedded Video
I just discovered that Heroes episodes are hosted on Hulu, and they could presumably be embedded in HeroesWiki pages. Is that something we would want to do? Or at least link to? --Ted C 10:55, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
- I think that would be an interesting idea. If we could embed the episode on the episode's article, that would be very interesting. (Admin 12:16, 8 October 2008 (EDT))
- The firewall at my office blocks Hulu, but I'll try to test this soon. --Ted C 13:58, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
- I stole some code from my blog and tried it, but it didn't work. It's apparently not supported by MediaWiki at this time, but an extension is being developed. Here's the relevant article. --Ted C 14:05, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
Since it looks like embedding isn't going to work in the short term, I've added links to the video to all of the Season 3 episode pages. I'm wondering, though, if we want to modify the episode template to include the link instead of dropping it at the bottom of the page. --Ted C 08:52, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
Futures problem
Hi. Sorry to bother you with this, but the futures pages are getting out of hand, and I wanted to ask for a consensus to merge the villains and exposed futures and simply make notes on the different timeline iterations, but wasn't sure if the consensus voting was something that needs to be speficially handled by administrators or not. As it stands right now, there are several problems. On the I Am Become Death page, the first summary note links to the exposed future, but all of the events from that episode are listed under the villains future. but all of the characters we saw in that episode are listed under the exposed future portal. To boot, we have no character pages for the people in Angela's dream, though the dream itself is listed as a villains future event. The Hiro trip is also listed there, but there's no apparent connection between the two (meaning we don't know that they were the same possible future) and it would mean Hiro was killed twice in the same timeline, which is paradoxical. I wouldn't mind doing all of the work to change things, but don't want to go ahead and do so without either a consensus or permission. Thanks. Stevehim 16:03, 8 October 2008 (EDT)
- Nope, there's nothing special about administrators when it comes to making decisions like this. :) Go ahead and bring up the problem on an appropriate Talk page and see what comes up. Good luck! (Admin 16:11, 8 October 2008 (EDT))
- Hi again. I called for a consensus check, and it currently stands at 8-0 in favor of combining the futures. I was wondering if I could maybe start combining things sometime around tomorrow afternoon, if things stand as they are now (and I'll bump it a few more times, or maybe even ask individuals wha they think, just to try and get more responses by then)? Normally I'd want to let it go awhile longer, but I was kinda hoping to get most of it done before Monday's episode to avoid both further confusion and excess work being created. If it's too soon, I fully understand, as it's only been up there for a few days, but if it's at all possible to start implementing changes, that would be great. Here's a page of a very general proposal of how the new merged page would look. I was hoping to get more input on different ways to approach it, but I think SacValleyDriver's edits make it look pretty good and understandable. Thanks. Stevehim 20:27, 10 October 2008 (EDT)
- With 8 in favor and no opposition so far I'd say go for it. It seems to have a good deal of support. (Admin 20:49, 10 October 2008 (EDT))

Playing the Next Episode of Heroes
Since this is a promotional message I prefer to contact you rather than post it on the Wiki. Please allow me to introduce myself: I’m Asi Burak, the Co-Founder of ImpactGames. ImpactGames is a world-renowned pioneer in “Making Content Interactive”: creating mini-games around current events or fictional content. Imagine Fantasy League meets the Evening News or PrimeTime TV. We let players role-play their favorite characters, make decisions and predict the next developments in any story. Once the results are in, we let them know.
I am approaching you as one of the leading fan sites for the NBC’s heroes. We just created a mini-game around the latest developments of season 3, going into the next episode “Angels and Monsters”: http://www.playthenewsgame.com/community/home.action
We are sure that your audience would love this fresh experience, and that it can trigger a heated debate in the community. How easy it is to integrate? It will take you 2 minutes to embed the flash game, and it’s completely free. Just like a YouTube video all you need to do is copy and paste the code line into your site. Here is an embed page we created to make it even easier: http://www.playthenewsgame.com/widgets/embed.action?gameTurnId=270&sponsorId=1&identifier ( you will also find a great game stats embed that allows your community to see the prevailing opinions in real time ).
I really hope you’ll present our game to your readers, whether by linking it or embeding it. I am here to answer any and all questions you may have. And we are obviously open to discuss other opportunities to cooperate around future episodes of the show.

Knox ---Fear Absorption
just wanna say tnx for fixing the Noah Gray Theory...
and by the way, doesn't Knox have "fear absorption"?...

I agree i don't believe that Knox's power is super strength, people have to be afraid of him for his power to work. His super strength only manifests once someone fears him.
Article about Heroes mistakes
do you have one?, an article about mistakes in heroes...lolz...coz I'm very disturbed about the scene where Present Peter saw Sylar's making waffles..
-If you look carefully, Sylar looked and walked into the camera when he said, "Peter its so nice to see you!", then looked in the side where Peter is standing...lolz its so obvious, but I can't see an article about it here...just wanna pass the message..lolz
it witchy2006 by the way...
Shanti Virus
If it's true that the Shanti Virus REMOVED all of Sylars abilities but telekinesis, why is future Gabriel able to access Isaac's precognitive painting and Ted's radioactive power? It don't see why he should have lost all his abilities, they were supressed by the virus clearly, but I can't see a reason for him still being unable to access them - it would not make sense at all that he could still use telekinesis. And just saying that he ''did'' say it, is not really convincing to me, tell me where ''exactly'' he says so and please give me a link to the interview stating the same point. --BloodyFox, 17:41 10. Oct 2008 (CEST)
- He is quoted in the episode as saying, "You see, I lost everything that made me special. Lost, but now found. There's a shopping list of abilities here, but I'm going to start with the best, and once I have yours". I don't think the dialogue was clear, however the writers clarified it in this interview. Search for the question by KCcat. They further addressed the confusion caused by his retention of telekinesis (and potentially other abilities) here (search for the question by Stephen David Warked). (Admin 11:49, 10 October 2008 (EDT))
- If the "vaccine" made from Claire's + Mohinder's blood didn't restore any powers beyond Intuitive_aptitude and Telekinesis, could taking Claire's power (done right after that quote you had) have allowed him to restore the rest? My younger sister just reminded me about the order of events there. GabrielPetrelli 18:16, 13 October 2008 (EDT)
- That's entirely possible. They said we'd learn more about the effects of his first death a few episodes from now, so maybe it will discuss him recovering his abilities. Or it may be something he recovered (or reobtained) within the 4 years between the present and future. (Admin 19:51, 13 October 2008 (EDT))

Episode summary
Hey, I don't know if you'll be available to write the episode summary after the show airs, but the quality of the last two are terrible. It's not in order, the grammar's off, there's a lack of perspective. I would do it myself, but I won't be home until later.--Bob (talk) 15:32, 12 October 2008 (EDT)
- Out of curiosity, what's the policy on rewrites? I had planned on trying to write some (specifically the last 2), but it's a lot harder to fill in the gaps than to just do the entire thing. I know we routinely correct/delete each other's work, but it seems a bit overboard to start an enitre summary over as it gets rid of a sizeable portion of information (with no noticeable difference in places), and I didn't want to step on so many feet at once. ;) Stevehim 16:02, 12 October 2008 (EDT)
- I think in a case like that where the order is off, a rewrite would be most welcome.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:53, 12 October 2008 (EDT)
Collapsible tables
Hi there. I was wondering if collapsible tables are working as well on the german site or not... I don't get them to work on a template here --Muffin84 02:23, 16 October 2008 (EDT)
- Muffin84, if you're an administrator on the German site, there are certain files that need to be set up on the German site for collapsible tables to work there. MediaWiki:Common.js is one of them, though if you copy the whole file you need to copy MediaWiki:Common.css as well so that nifty corners also works. Take care when copying cause those files will work globally on the German site once installed.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:24, 16 October 2008 (EDT)
- Thx for your help, it works now. --Muffin84 05:42, 17 October 2008 (EDT)

I think you may want to check this pdflink out when you get a chance. It's NBC's new internet data containing ratings system.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:24, 16 October 2008 (EDT)

OskarMaxa
I just stepped on my first vandal. Wheeeee! --Ted C 08:58, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
- :) One thing I recommend trying is issuing a warning on their talk page before blocking them. Some people come here and vandalize a little, but after being warned clean up their act and realize it won't be allowed to continue. What I do is issue the warning and then watch for two more acts of vandalism. After the first I KNOW they will see the new messages banner at the top so they'll probably check their talk page. After the second one I assume they've ignored them message and I go ahead and block them. (Admin 09:13, 17 October 2008 (EDT))
- Well, I guess I'm must evil. I would have had him flogged and keel-hauled, too, if that were an option. I suppose I could make the ban non-permanent and show mercy on his talk page. --Ted C 09:40, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
- Haha. Not a bad choice of punishments. :) You don't have to change it, you get complete discretion when it comes to dealing with vandals. Getting an admin who likes to lay down the law is a risk you take when you vandalize. :) (Admin 09:44, 17 October 2008 (EDT))
- I would have blocked OskarMaxa, too. I certainly believe in giving the benefit of the doubt, but clear vandalism is clear vandalism. References to Hitler, dirty language, and spamming are not worthy of assuming good faith, in my opinion. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:07, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
- Exactly, there aren't any clear cut rules (which I do prefer). Each admin is free to use his/her best judgment. I usually warn before blocking and encourage others to do the same, but in the end I stand by the decision each of you make since good judgment is one of the criteria before anyone becomes an administrator anyway. :) (Admin 13:53, 17 October 2008 (EDT))

MediaWiki:Linkstoimage
I'm trying to add a link to MediaWiki:Linkstoimage (or MediaWiki:Nolinkstoimage or even to MediaWiki:Imagelinks), but the link never actually appear on the image pages. They show up as though there are nowiki tags around the link:
See [[Special:Whatlinkshere/$1]] to find out which pages link to this file.
Ultimately, I want to have a link to Special:Whatlinkshere on the image page. I would prefer it down in the links section if possible, but I can't seem to get it there. Ugh. I remember a similar problem with MediaWiki:Unusedimagestext where it did the same thing (see MediaWiki talk:Unusedimagestext)...but a year later, it suddenly started working with no explanation. I don't know if that helps, or if you have any insights. I know you're busy, but if you get a second to figure this out, I'd be forever indebted! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:04, 18 October 2008 (EDT)
Quick question
- I understand why the note regarding the oxygen depletion was removed from Claire's page (it's still sort of on two others, so we should probably remove it there as well...which I'll do pending your response :)), but is there somewhere that can be put, or rephrased in some way? I don't think it's clear that the oxygen was actually gone from the container, based on Claire's reaction (she only felt the effects of it immediately upon Meredith's comment about the oxygen getting thin, and stopped feeling the effects of it when Meredith stopped 'pushing' her), and, more importantly, the mention of waterboarding torture (which, to me, suggests it was only in Claire's mind). I discussed this with Ryan on the Pyrokinesis talk page when it first occurred, and it was moved from a statement to an aside in the description, but I don't know if it should be removed altogether or placed somewhere else. Having gone over the scene a bunch of times, I really do feel that it was in Claire's head (and that the BTE interview was trumped by the show, since it isn't canon), and since it's not likely to ever be brought up again in the show, I was hoping to include it somewhere (I guess if all else fails, the theories section?). Stevehim 01:22, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- I think it could definitely go into the theories section. The question of whether the incident was real or purely psychological doesn't seem noteworthy enough to be mentioned on the article itself and we shouldn't engage in speculation in the notes section, however it could go on the Theory page without any problem, sure. (Admin 01:55, 19 October 2008 (EDT))
- Sounds good. I removed the speculation from all of the pages, though the episode synopsis still says:
- I think it could definitely go into the theories section. "Meredith suggests the air must be getting thin in the container, which causes Claire to seemingly begin to suffocate. Claire begs her to stop, but Meredith persists until Claire confesses she wants to learn to fight not to help people, but to hurt villains such as Sylar. "
Is it ok to include the idea by leaving things a bit vague like that, or should that be changed to be more definite (ie - removal of 'seemingly')? If the latter, I'll do so tomorrow and put the idea in the theories section. If the former, then would these changes to the other references to the scene be acceptable, to keep things consistent?
Pyrokinesis page:
"Meredith is not hurt by the fire she creates, and she seems to be resistant to other consequences of its use; her flames generated enough heat and consumed enough oxygen from a shipping container that seemed to nearly suffocate Claire, but Meredith appeared to be completely unaffected, not even breaking a sweat (One of Us, One of Them)."
Claire's page:
"Meredith allows her to skip school and takes her to an empty storage container where she begins to burn the oxygen out of the air. Claire seems to start suffocating and begins to have flashbacks of her encounter with Sylar and pleads with Meredith to stop."

Heroes wiki in Spanish
Hello! I'm Bruno, from Uruguay, and I'm kind of the administrator of the heroes wiki in spanish. I'm saying "kind of" because the real administrator is absent since almost a year... And I'm the one who takes care of the wiki, creating, updating, translating articles and keeping the main page up to date, and I have the support of only one other user: Zphinx. So, we are only two for the whole wiki...
However, I didn't come to talk about that xD I was wondering... Should I put the "advertisement" section in the spanish wiki or not?
Waiting for your reply!
--Bruno 23:30, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- Hey. The advertisement section requires some changes I have to make personally, but you'll be seeing it added very soon. Since you and Zphinx are doing such a good job over there, would you like to be administrators on the Spanish site? (Admin 17:07, 19 October 2008 (EDT))
- As for the advertisement: Ok! And there's another thing I wanted to tell you about that... I see the advertisement covering some part of the page and that's kind of anoying because it doesn't let you read or write properly, is that ok? (not the advert in the main page, the other one that appears in almost every page). As for the administrators of the spanish site: Great! I would really appreciate you that, and surely Zphinx would too! However, I think that MeliPetrelli (which is the actual admin but inactive since long ago) should remain as admin because she may return one day. Thanks a lot! --brunoar 23:30, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- Could you take a screen capture and send it to admin@heroeswiki.com? Also try clearing your cache if you can or forcing a reload of the page. (Admin 09:46, 20 October 2008 (EDT))

My Own Worst Enemy Wiki
Hey Admin, what's up? I was wondering if we could start a MOWE wiki, as there's no one online, and it is also on the same network as Heroes. Thanks, Obi-Dan Kenobi 17:40, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- I was thinking of a few good wiki ideas. A x-men films one or a Woliverine and the X-men.--Skywalkerrbf 17:44, 19 October 2008 (EDT)
- Those aren't relevant. MOWE is a current TV show on NBC that's quite amazing. Obi-Dan Kenobi 01:39, 21 October 2008 (EDT)

I think that through our powers combined we quelled what will become known as "The Great Outbreak of Possible Names of Arthur's Ability"--Aburu 22:30, 20 October 2008 (EDT)
Arthur
- Oh sorry, I thought he already had all of Peter's abilities. (Mykll 23:26, 20 October 2008 (EDT))
- He probably does and there will be a template for it in the body of his article (if there's not one already), but since the infobox is meant to be concise it usually keeps the list of abilities we've seen. You can check our Sylar and Peter's articles for examples. Arthur's article will end up looking similar. (Admin 23:27, 20 October 2008 (EDT))

- Michael, if it's no trouble :). (Mykll 23:32, 20 October 2008 (EDT))
- That username is taken already unfortunately. You can pick a different one and then check Special:Listusers to confirm it's not currently in use. (Admin 23:34, 20 October 2008 (EDT))
- Never mind the name change, but do you hire any moderators for this site?. (Mykll 23:39, 20 October 2008 (EDT))
- There are a few administrators, but we don't do much that everyone else can't already do which is why we rarely add new ones. Editing and fixing articles are taken care of by everyone. Stick around and learn the ropes and you'll soon be helping out just as much as anyone else here. :) (Admin 23:42, 20 October 2008 (EDT))

- Due to the recent rapid fire in editing the article, shouldn't it be protected to prevent some users from changing the power name? Intuitive Empath 10:50, 21 October 2008 (EDT)
- The ability name can be changed back easily enough. Protecting the article prevents a lot of useful edits, too, so we're hesitant to protect articles like that. I haven't seen too much renaming recently, most of it was last night before people realized it needs to be Arthur's ability until we have an official name or consensus. (Admin 11:06, 21 October 2008 (EDT))
Standardization
Hi. I was going to try and start standardizing some things, so they appear the same on each page, and I was going to start with the abilities pages, specifically where Peter is listed as having gained the power. I do have a question that I think needs to be settled, as the unsurety on this issue seems to have been going on for awhile. Any advice on this would be appreciated greatly. Thanks. --Stevehim 18:17, 21 October 2008 (EDT)
- I don't mean to bother you about this, and there is certainly no rush, but I just wanted to bump this in case it fell by the wayside, as I know you have a ton of other questions posed to you each day (and undoubtedly a lot of other stuff to do with the recent NBC partnership). Thanks. --Stevehim 16:20, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
- I would just recommend bringing it up on the relevant discussion page(s) and seeing how everyone feels about it first. (Admin 16:26, 22 October 2008 (EDT))

Ah, right. I forgot that that's the common spelling for "live-its." I think that they said that the name was Doctor Livitz(etz) in the script, after Oliver Grigsby's friend.--Aburu 19:37, 21 October 2008 (EDT)
Telepathy confirmation
In the commentary for Dying of the Light, Chuck Kim spoke of the Adam and Arthur's conversation as a "telepathic" one, so does that count as a confirmation?--Aburu 19:37, 21 October 2008 (EDT)
- As far as I'm concerned the effect in the episode is the confirmation. :) However this certainly supports it. Good catch! (Admin 19:38, 21 October 2008 (EDT))
- Heh, thanks. I haven't even gotten 1/4th of the way through the commentary because I keep stopping to edit the wiki whenever something pops up!--Aburu 19:39, 21 October 2008 (EDT)

- Oh, about the wiki. I need to wait and see a couple more weeks before I know whether it's going to be popular enough to survive the first season. That's about the same amount of time I gave Heroes before realizing it would be a long-term hit. (Admin 14:19, 22 October 2008 (EDT))
- Sounds great! Any chance you could let me know the moment you deicde? Thanks, Obi-Dan Kenobi 14:30, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
New Wiki
FOr the show 30 rock? Its been going for 2 series with no big wiki out yet and there is defo a third season, it is a NBC show too right?--Skywalkerrbf 14:24, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
- If it's been on for 2 seasons now with no wiki, there's probably a reason. :) I doubt I'd create a wiki for the show, I don't think it'd be useful enough. The prime picks are serial dramas where there is a lot of continuity between episodes and a lot of deep interest in the story line. Lost and Heroes are terrific examples. I'm keeping my eye out for the next in this line of series. (Admin 14:27, 22 October 2008 (EDT))
- That does make a lot of sense really! Thanks. --Skywalkerrbf 14:48, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
DPL server bug
Are you still working on the DPL server code? DPL seemed to be working fine before with the cache fix you did (a week ago?). However, today I noticed that DPL searches are parsing differently, which is messing up the list of novels and episodes in actor/crew articles, along with the Archive links among other things. It looks like you may have taken out the span tag?--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:09, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
- I didn't touch DPL, however I did upgrade StringFunctions. Are there any string functions in there that may have broken? (Admin 16:26, 22 October 2008 (EDT))
- Check out pages like Chuck Kim#Episodes Written, or worse, Aron Coleite#Graphic Novels Written. Yikes! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:43, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
- I backed out the StringFunctions update and it seems to be ok now. Any articles still messed up currently just click on Edit and then at the end of the URL change "action=edit" to "action=purge" and it will clear out the object cache manually rather than having to wait. (Admin 16:53, 22 October 2008 (EDT))
- Yeah, much better now. Looks like there is a change in format in that update which was causing problems.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:58, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
- It wasn't an important update, so we'll just use the existing version until its fixed or until I get bored and find the bug in the code. Thanks for picking it up, Miami. I figured if there were any non-obvious bugs in it they'd get caught here. (Admin 17:02, 22 October 2008 (EDT))

I'm not sure if it's my local traffic again, or pertaining to the site, but I've been getting more lag than normal the past couple of days when trying to access Heroes Wiki. "This page has been accessed # times"
Hey, Admin. I noticed that recently a lot of pages don't have the "This page has been accessed # times" counter on the bottom. Then I got suspicious because some do and some don't. So I checked out Special:Popularpages, and it looks like there's a ton of pages that are on it that aren't accurate. This is most obvious in the "0 views" part of the list (which starts, oh, around here), which seems to list newer pages, specifically those that were created around the same time that Season Three started. So the viewcount on the bottom is probably not showing up because popularpages isn't updated. Is that something you usually take care of? Is it a glitch? ... - If anyone else saw this and got curious, Heroes Wiki doesn't have any way to do so. DPL doesn't handle logs, but there are edit counters that can be added to provide the data if you want to do so. See Wikipedia:WikiProject edit counters for a listing, and Wikipedia:Editcountitis for a laugh. This is a good example counter that works for Wikipedia.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:22, 22 November 2008 (EST)

Hey, Admin. I was wondering if you could dust off the old bot and lend me a hand. :) There are about 200 pages that link to "Category:Guest Stars". I just updated the categories so they would be per season (Category:Season One Guest Stars, Category:Season Two Guest Stars, etc.) Long story short, "Category:Guest Stars" is no longer needed. Is there any way the bot could remove the category from the actor pages? Here's the list of articles that have to be updated, in case you need it. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:11, 29 November 2008 (EST)

- You're welcome, that's what I figured. It was just today that they added that Walkthrough with links to our iStory and graphic novel pages from last week.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:00, 2 December 2008 (EST)
- Wow, they're really linking to us pretty heavily over there, aren't they? I count 16 links to various pages! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:21, 2 December 2008 (EST)
- The links are most definitely appreciated. NBC.com currently makes up about 10% of the referrals we get. Those would be people browsing NBC's site that happen to see a link to the wiki and click on it. Google searches make up about 50%. Those are people looking for specific information (or often just typing "heroes wiki"). That being the case, NBC's 10% is pretty significant since they were drawn in by interest in the site itself whereas Google searchers may just be looking for specific information. New site
Sorry about the links, I just thought that all the other sites doing weekly interviews had their own little section and I it would be ok for my site to have one too. It would mean a lot for me if you checked out the site; I'm not asking for help, I've tryed that, but I think I've done pretty good on my own at starting a new site and I know from Volts that is what you do for a job. I'm guessing you have no problem with me linking my sites the way other sites are on Cast/Crew pages? I'm trying to come back to the wiki as a normal editor atm but don't worry I have invested a lot of money into this new site so I wouldn't be wanting to do interviews for this site any time soon.--Skywalkerrbf 14:31, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Image storage
Hi. I was wondering if there's a limit to the number of images we can upload. I had long term plans to upload a bunch for my userpages (eg - fan powers pictures), but I was also thinking (assuming it's not a copyright violation, and maybe you know the answer to that as well), of creating one or several pictures of the assignment trackers to all go on one page for easy viewing/researching (which I'd keep on a user subpage, if inappropriate for the mainspace). The problem is, when I cut and paste the data, each tracker ends up being in the 150-200 KB range, which I notice is much larger than most of the pictures we have on the site. So I guess my question is threefold:
- How many pictures (in terms of size and number) are we each allowed to upload?
- Is the assignment tracker idea a copyright violation?
- Is the assignment tracker idea a bad idea overall, since it might deter people from accessing them as they were originally intended (ie - going to the site typing in the passwords; seeing things from the Bennet perspective)?
Thanks. --Stevehim 04:29, 21 December 2008 (EST)
- Stevehim asked me to reply to this. By policy, there is no limit as to how many pictures may be uploaded at Heroes Wiki. As far as I understand, we're not hurting for storage space. However, I think we should be reasonable in how many pictures we upload. A few for some user subpages sounds like a good idea. A hundred pictures is probably excessive. :) I'll let Admin elaborate if he needs. As for the AT idea, I don't know that it violated copyright laws any more than we're already doing by posting the text on the characters' pages. In fact, considering that some of the AT pages seem inaccessible at the moment (I haven't been able to get into Matt Neuenberg's for quite awhile now), it might prove to be a good idea as a means for archiving. If we do decide to recreate the AT pages, I've got a good idea for a way we can do it. However, I'll let Admin comment in case I'm overlooking something. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:36, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- Correct, we're fine when it comes to storage space. When it comes to image sizes it's a question of utility and usefulness in relation to the size of the image. If it's a worthwhile image to have then it's ok to upload. In terms of copyright, I think given our very good relationship with NBC that it would not be an issue. If it became an issue I'm sure they'd let me know and we could get rid of it. Plus I don't believe the NBC assignment tracker page has any advertising on it, correct? If so then I think they might welcome the information here where since it would be accompanied by their advertising. I'd say go for it. (Admin 17:08, 30 December 2008 (EST))
- Gotcha, thanks. Actually, I should ask a quick followup, based on what Ryan said, as I was planning on uploading a good number of pics for a userpage with an updated version of Heroes chess (with 2-3 pics per power, it may be close to a hundred). If this is too many, is there some way to get pics hosted on other sites (eg - photobucket) to show as pics rather than links? I tried all the different codes they supply ([IMG], <a href> etc), but none seem to work. Thanks again guys. --Stevehim 17:23, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Wouldn't it be better to remove the case sensitivity? A recently blocked account was made with lower case and it wasn't blocked cause of the case sensitivity in the list. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 07:25, 22 December 2008 (EST)
- I'm still tweaking the filters, but I'm trying to keep from accidentally blocking legitimate names in the process that may happen to contain certain strings. (e.g. Peacock). The case-sensitive ones are there to prevent attempts to make the word stand out even when in the middle of another word. Most of the rules are not case-sensitive, but I have to make sure they're specific enough to block the names I intend to block. (Admin 19:59, 22 December 2008 (EST))
