The fifth iStory volume is called Faction Zero. The first installment's release coincided with the publication of the graphic novel Rebellion, Part 7.

Heroes Evolutions

In this iStory volume, each user is able to explore Claire Bennet's life after the fall of Building 26. Each week contains one chapter of stories told from third-person point of view. Most of the chapters feature a "guest" character or characters from the online game Heroes: Survival. The stories are entirely text-based with a button to choose an action at the bottom of each scene. No registration is required to participate.

Faction Zero

	Chapter 1: Welcome to Costa Verde Release Date: 18 August 2009 Claire continues to work under Vic at Sam's Comics during her final summer before college. One day at the job, Eric Lee Harrison, a Building 26 fugitive that Claire had helped, visits Claire with an unusual request. The same day, Rachel Mills visits Claire with disturbing news about a homeless man who is hunting evolved humans, and asks Claire to help catch him. Claire agrees, but transfers Eric's request to Rachel, which Rachel is forced to agree with.
	Chapter 2: Self-Discoveries Release Date: 28 August 2009 Claire and Rachel go to the Costa Verde police for information regarding Mensen's death. Claire returns to Sam's Comics, where she helps Hiro and Ando search for their new mission in life. When yet another former fugitive, Alethea Thorn, comes looking for help, Sam's Comics becomes the scene of a standoff between the specials and a former Building 26 agent who is holding a terrible grudge against Alethea.
	Chapter 3: Wild Things Release Date: 1 September 2009 At home, Claire and Sandra are visited by Mags, who reveals that whoever is after Claire is hell-bent on finding Sabine Hazel. Wildman, Mags's captor, attacks the Bennet household, using his mastery over animals to threaten the women. Meanwhile, Rachel heads to investigate a faction of evolved humans gathering around Costa Verde. She discovers that they're ex-fugitives from Building 26, and that their leader is heading to retrieve information from Claire. She teams with Hiro and Ando to save everyone just as Wildman loses his patience.
	Chapter 4: Catching Fire Release Date: 8 September 2009 Micah returns to help Claire and Rachel deal with the dangerous new faction. Using his old contacts, Micah rounds up the Unity group and together they investigate the faction's warehouse. Meanwhile, Rachel and Claire go after the fire breathers and learn that they are heading to an unknown location. After regrouping, Micah explains Thompson Jr.'s plans and the major danger that he could cause.
	Chapter 5: Yesterday's Angels Release Date: 15 September 2009 Alex returns and reclaims his old job. Claire, Rachel, Micah and the other members of Rebel team up to bring down the new faction that is threatening the world. Their enemies make a surprising move, seemingly abandoning their plans for Sabine's child. As the hunt for Sabine Hazel reaches its surprising climax, a new friend betrays the group in order to protect his mysterious group. Rachel leaves for an unknown path.
	Chapter 6: Path to Redemption Release Date: 22 September 2009 As Claire tries to get into college, new and old faces appear in Costa Verde to help and hinder her. A new faction led by Eric Thompson, Jr. threatens the world, Alex returns to his old life and Rachel follows a family of fire breathers to a strange Carnival. Gail, Chris and Jennie find themselves a new home with the Carnival.
