On November 4, 2011, Antoine attends a protest against the European Union's version of the Evo Registration Act in Paris, France. When he observes several other evos using their powers, he remembers what his mentor Claude told him, which was that people are scared of evos because they look ordinary until they use their powers. Claude had taught Antoine how to use his ability to manipulate light to make himself invisible. Antoine shouts with the others that he will not declare his powers. When riot police show up and order them to disperse, Antoine manipulates the light reflecting off a building to see around the entire square. He tells a girl next to him that they are being surrounded. When the police start firing into the crowd, Antoine uses his powers to bend light around their weapons, making them temporarily invisible. He then uses the same trick on himself to escape.
