About
A member of SAG since 2006, Ray "Chill" Campbell has had a number of roles over the years. He began his career as a background actor in 1993 when he worked on Wayne's World 2, and listened to Aerosmith perform for three days straight. Later, Chill portrayed a recording engineer in three episodes of the show Girlfriends, several roles in the final season of That '70s Show, Buffalo Bill in The History Channel's Wild West Tech, an electrician on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, an office painter on Justice, and a rickshaw driver on How I Met Your Mother. He has also been in the films Funny People and Valentine's Day.
In addition to acting, Chill is a drummer, guitarist, and singer in a band called "The Mechanism". Prior to that, he spent the 1990s in a headlining band that toured clubs throughout the United States. The band has been alternately called "Legs Up", "Sledgehammer Ledge", and "The Killing 4". He is also a portrait artist and strives to get the autograph of the celebrities he draws.
On Heroes, Chill is often considered the head of the carny extras, affectionately referred to as the "king carny". He counts his time working for Heroes as "the funnest and most memorable times as an actor thus far in my career."
Trivia
- During the second take of the filming of the earthquake scene in Pass/Fail, Chill was hit with a flaming light bulb that then exploded on his back. He did not receive stunt pay for the day, but did receive a half-joking threat from Tony Adler that he should keep quiet about the incident or lose his job.
