Charlie recalls that after her parents died when she was a baby, her aunt Erika cared for her. Erika worked at the diner. In 2005, Erika got married and moved to Phoenix. Charlie went to stay with them last Christmas. (Chapter 13)

Charlie shows Hiro a photo of her and Lloyd at Erika's wedding last year. Erika had the bridesmaids wear sequined dresses. In another photo, Erika is laughing and wearing a poufy wedding dress. Hiro thinks Erika looks like Charlie, and Charlie says that everyone says that. (Chapter 16)

Erika receives a chess set for her a wedding. But because she isn't "a chess person", she gives the set to Charlie, even though Charlie had never played before. Later, while figuring out ways to keep Charlie away from the Brain Man, Hiro considers sending her for a visit to Erika in Phoenix. (Chapter 27)

When Charlie says she won't go to Japan, Hiro suggests that she goes with Erika instead. (Chapter 39)

While time traveling uncontrollably, Hiro finds himself at Erika's wedding. (Chapter 45)
