James Walker and Freeze

Ryan, Is there any chance at all, I could convince you to consider listing 'freeze' as a 'possible' power of James Walker? ('possible' being the key adjective?) I know we have only 'circumstancial' evidence to make this conclusion, and that is not enough to boldy state 'freeze' as many Heroes sites do attribute to James. I am just suggesting the moniker of 'possibly freeze'. My case in doing so would involve these facts:
        • Noone else Sylar took powers from has exhibited or been shown to have freeze power, or to be associated with freeze power except James Walker.
        • James Walker was on Sureshes' list (showing he had a power), and James Walker was frozen.
        • Sylar never used freeze power prior to the James Walker scene.
        • Sylar used the freeze power itself in the 21 Graphic novel to slicken the roads to wreck the police cars.
        • Since Sylar didn't take any powers from the fully-headed, Mrs Walker, Freeze couldn't have come from her.
        • Since Molly Walker wasn't de-headed, Freeze couldn't have come from her.
        • After James' death and de-headding (Sylar possibly taking Freeze from him), in the next episode, in the unshown seen, Sylar goes to the FBI to capture Molly, an officer is frozen.
No evidence points to any Sylar-killed person having Freeze power, except James Walker. The arguement of Sylar doing freezing himself based on TK is a much more flimsy likelihood than James Walker being the freezer power source.
Again, I am not trying to talk you into a confirmed listing that James Walker has freeze (like many heroes-site sources are doing), just listing the 'possibly freeze' in his power reference so it is documented, instead of listing nothing. The evidence isn't conclusive for a 'straight power listing', but is pretty strong for a 'possibly'. Did I convince you?--HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 15:03, 21 February 2007 (EST)

If James Walker had that power then how did Sylar freeze him before removing his brain? James was frozen suddenly in the middle of eating. Sylar would have needed to have the ability before killing James Walker then. (Admin 17:29, 21 February 2007 (EST))

        • James appears to be eating, but can we be sure? What if he saw Sylar as a threat, and started to freeze Sylar, and Sylar used TK to reverse the freeze upon James? Or better yet, notice also, that James' head was cut-off before the freeze, and then he was freezed afterwards. Otherwise, the cut-off would have been smooth and not lumpily iced-over. What if Sylar killed James before James did any freezing, and then after he 'ate his brain' and learned the freeze power, then froze the corpse trying out the new power? I realize there is conjecture here, but again, looking at the bulleted items above, all likelihood only points to James Walker as 'possibly' having the freeze power. Not Mrs Walker. Not Molly Walker. Not Sylar before that visit; and then wa-lah...the next episode Sylar has that power. Again, I am trying to get a 'possibly' qualifier...that's all. The only other logical alternative, would be a mystery 4th unrevealed freeze-person who was in the house, that no clues have been given to their existance. I can let it drop, but I am just looking for a 'possibly' note, not the full-fledge credit. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 17:03, 21 February 2007 (EST)
          • There are, according to Mohinder, five other dead people from the list he could have gotten it from. I don't see why we'd note what powers someone might have--particularly when circumstances make it seem really unlikely. Even if you ignore the fact that James was frozen mid-bite, which is pretty strong evidence Sylar already had cryokinesis when he killed James, and go with random chance, there's still only a one-in-six reason to believe he's the source of cryokinesis--Hardvice (talk) 18:23, 21 February 2007 (EST)
            • Yeah, I'm just not 1)buying that James had the power, or 2)understanding why we would note it on his page. Why not note it on David's page, since there's a chance (or, really, a much better chance) that he had cryokinesis. It just doesn't make sense, all around. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:09, 21 February 2007 (EST)

Windchimes

  • What's the deal with not calling them Claire's wind chimes? I must have missed something. Most items are So-and-so's such-and-such.--Hardvice (talk) 00:04, 1 February 2007 (EST)
    • Oh, well, that was sort of arbitrary. I was actually going through the wanted pages list earlier today, and there was only one "Claire's wind chimes", but like 4 "wind chimes", so I just changed the one to fit the majority. I guess a redirect would work. ... I think I may have also been thinking that we would eventually call it "The Haitian's wind chime", but that's not really an important point. Yeah, go ahead and change it back to "Claire's wind chimes" or whatever, that's fine. I don't usually have my brain turned on correctly at work, what with my students around me and all. And yes, I really did find a kid peeing in the sink today. I kid you not. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:09, 1 February 2007 (EST)
    • Either way. I was just wondering if I missed another knock-down, drag-em-out.--Hardvice (talk) 00:17, 1 February 2007 (EST)
      • I considered "Loretta Lynn's wind chimes", but that just sounded dirty. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:18, 1 February 2007 (EST)

Heroes/Herpes

I told you they were perilously close together. My new arch-nemesis: the world-famous template {{image-screenshit}}. I must catch myself typing that at least once a day.--Hardvice (talk) 18:08, 1 February 2007 (EST)

LOL - I remember you mentioned that .... Shoulda heeded your warning ... Even better, my son sometimes crawls on my lap when I'm typing, and bangs on the keyboard (btw, I blame him for all my typos). Well, once, I kid you not, he spelled a certain euphamism for the female genetalia. Mmm, that's my boy, that's my boy. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:23, 1 February 2007 (EST)

Theories Subpages

OK, I got Template:Theories changed so we can point links to the subpages. I set up options for Theories:Miscellaneous, Theories:People, Theories:Items, and Theories:Events, but it's super easy to add others. The only difficult part is we'll have to go back to each page that uses the {{theories}} template and add page= to direct the link to the appropriate subpage. There are only 51, so it shouldn't be too bad. Then, all we have to do is move theories to the appropriate subpage and change Theories to be more of a gateway (perhaps set up Portal:Theories and just redirect Theories to it, even.)--Hardvice (talk) 01:51, 4 February 2007 (EST)

Yeah, I just noticed that. Great idea. Question: what if, down the road, somebody puts in "miscellaneous" instead of "misc", or "event" instead of "events" - does it throw everything off? Also, what would you like me to do? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:56, 4 February 2007 (EST)
No, I don't think it really lends itself to a portal. I think it's best as a text link - "For theories about items, see here", "For theories about people, see here", "For absolutely ridiculous theories, see here". I guess a portal could work, but I think it's better as just text links. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:08, 4 February 2007 (EST)
I'll probably make a portal either way. We already have the Tinfoil Hat guy in the portal bar ... may as well put him to better use.--Hardvice (talk) 02:27, 4 February 2007 (EST)
Yeah, actually, he would be kinda cool. And as I'm seeing the pages (they look so much cleaner, btw), I can envision a nice portal.

A few things: The email should probably go under Theories:Items, since the page is listed as being Category:Media. Patient Zero should probably come off Items and become either People (though it's very populated) or Theories:Miscellaneous. And I like that you put the paintings under Powers. Excellent job! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:31, 4 February 2007 (EST)

I put the paintings under Powers? Whoops. I meant to put them under Items, but I guess Powers makes sense (since the theories are actually about the prophetic nature of the paintings). I did intentionally put Uluru in Misc. though, since the theories aren't about the painting.--Hardvice (talk) 02:48, 4 February 2007 (EST)
Yeah, I kinda like the paintings on powers. And I noticed Uluru where he is, and think that's best, personally. His girlfriend might have a differing opinion... I'm curious to see how the new pages work out - I have a feeling we'll get a few people that will feel compelled to add to every page. But I think this will turn out much nicer. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:52, 4 February 2007 (EST)

Vanity List

Look at the new list image again. It's cut-and-pasted from other letters. My guess is somebody is trying to immortalize himself. I'm going to revert it.--Hardvice (talk) 02:36, 4 February 2007 (EST)

Advice Plz

I'd really like to get Symbols, Peter's scar, and Items combined. Is "Things" too dumb? I want something that will cover all of it (and frankly, "Items" is a pretty poor match for publications and research already). Hep me.--Hardvice (talk) 18:30, 4 February 2007 (EST)

No, "things" is not too dumb, it's just too close to "items". I've been racking my brain, and I've exhausted my thesaurus. :) You just can't have both. If you're thinking of changing "Items" to "Things", I don't think it's the best solution, but it's the best one I can think of. It certainly allows for stuff from Symbols, the scar, and just about anything else you want to add. "Miscellaneous" works too, but I just don't like it. Yeah, go with "Things". — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:35, 4 February 2007 (EST)
I mean, we've got People (Characters) and Places. If we go with "Things", we should be able to handle any concrete nouns they throw at us.--Hardvice (talk) 18:37, 4 February 2007 (EST)
Oh, yeah, I guess that would complete the definition of a noun, eh? (Shall we add "ideas"? hehe.) Man, I can't believe the elementary teacher didn't think of that — I teach it all day long! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:39, 4 February 2007 (EST)

Returning the thanks

Not a problem my friend. I just want to return the thanks to you and the other administrators who set this place up, as just working on Wikipedia is a bit tedious for me, so this site is great. Love the show, so might as well contribute eh? Thanks again and sorry for the lateness, it's been a busy week ugh... Darth Judicar 22:37, 5 February 2007 (EST)

For shame!

Ryan, Ryan, Ryan ... you of all people should know that Template:Character box needs commas to make the labels plural. Tsk tsk. :P --Hardvice (talk) 01:48, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Well, when it's 1:49 EST, and you have to get up at 6:00 to face the chillins, you sometimes forget things. Plus, I have manatees on my mind. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:49, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Caps

I'm grabbing caps now. Anything in particular you're after?--Hardvice (talk) 03:14, 6 February 2007 (EST)

I'll toss out some requests. :) Isaac's new paintings, Mr. Bennet's ID, and NCC-1701 license plate.
Got 'em, got it, and not quite there yet. Also the realized shot of the purse snatching, but not the taxi fall yet.--Hardvice (talk) 03:18, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Micah's school and Bully

  • So ... if Micah got kicked out of the private school, wouldn't that makes this a different school?--Hardvice (talk) 13:52, 6 February 2007 (EST)
    • Oh, yeah, oh, yeah. Remember, there was that one episode I never saw? Yeah, well, it's coming back to bite me. Hey - do you mind fixing that up for me - I gotta run in like 2 minutes. Thanks! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:54, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Template: News

Did you have the wrong link in your paste buffer? I'm trying to figure out what the screencap site has to do with Nathan being a whore. Am I being dumb?--Hardvice (talk) 23:36, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Yes, you're being dumb, but that has nothing to do with the mistake I made. :) Should be fixed now. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:41, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Supporting Characters

Hi there. I just saw your message. I had realized that my changing the Index template did indeed impact other links (like the supporting characters portal), and that clearly consistency between these should be maintained. I also then saw the Discussion at that Portal, so I chimed in there as you were messaging me. Heroes-wikians seem to have super-speed! --Mercury McKinnon 19:38, 8 February 2007 (EST)

Well, good. I know you're new here, so I wasn't sure if you were familiar with the site or not. I'm just glad we're all on the same page. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:51, 8 February 2007 (EST)

The List seen in Run!

Hi Ryan.. I noticed you changed my image caption on the list page, and also the description for the image itself. Mohinder wasn't hanging the list, he was pulling Zane Taylor's post-it off of the map. The list is just seen in the background and may or may not have been intentional. --Frantik 09:23, 13 February 2007 (EST)

  • You're right, my wording makes it sound active, and I meant for it to be passive. I'll change it now. However, my main reason for changing it was because it was written out of perspective. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:40, 13 February 2007 (EST)
    • I of course don't mind you editing my contributions (this is a wiki after all!) I just wanted to give you the heads up since it seemed your description didn't match what was going on :) --Frantik 21:08, 13 February 2007 (EST)

Proactive Picture Gathering

So jealous that you got to talk to Tim Sale about the purse painting. That is totally amazing. Coincidentally, I have also taken matters into my own hands when it comes to hard-to-get pictures: I sent the CBR guys a bunch of questions this week, and asked for pictures of Aron & Joe. Let's see if it works.--Hardvice (talk) 13:59, 16 February 2007 (EST)

  • Great idea -- you take care of the crew portraits, I'll take care of the art. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:19, 16 February 2007 (EST)

Can you...

Since you're one of the head guys here, can you take a look at my notes in the Powers Talk section? :D --Riddler 00:11, 20 February 2007 (EST)

  • Heh, thank you for looking at it. I personally think "Aquisition" can be considered the power's title as a whole, but what about the Hana picture? :P --Riddler 00:23, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Just a heads up.

On the samantha site there are 6 voicemails for Bennet, idk where to put those on this site so I just figured I'd let you know :P --Riddler 13:54, 20 February 2007 (EST)

  • They're already linked from Hana's website.--Hardvice (talk) 14:31, 20 February 2007 (EST)
    • Haha, I didn't realize we had a section for the site, I thought that was all in Primatech's section. Sorry. --Riddler 14:40, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks for the cleanups for Unexpected

Yeah, I just did a quick cut and paste from the episode's plot description to each character it concerned. Like I said with Peter, I wasn't sure to put scenes he wasn't present in, because it does develop around him (such as "saving the world" by shooting him, etc). But thanks for the cleanup, wanted to put something there - Bob

  • Hey, no problem. I like to keep the entries as sleek as possible--makes for easier reading. The links and the episode pages are there for further info. I also like to, when possible, have original writing. I cut and paste often, but it's in the revising and editing that the writing takes on its own life. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:18, 23 February 2007 (EST)

Couple Questions

How do you add theories to the theories page. Like, how do you make the boxes and stuff.

  • never mind. I found it in the help section.
  • Use the edit-way-to-do, edit the article, check how people did, and copy paste their style :) --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 15:52, 25 February 2007 (EST)
    • I add a question on this topic, what's about the file in the Special:Unusedimages? Why don't we delete them if they are uploaded for a long time (November 14, 2006 for exemple) and still unused? --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 15:32, 26 February 2007 (EST)
  • Also I was wondering. I think this would be a good idea. MAke a page where you can contribute your own hero ideas. Of course there have to be warnings and stuff. It might work out. Or maybe... eh... :) whatever, I think you get the idea. hehe. P.S. COMPANY MAN WAS SO COOL! User:Jason Garrick
    • One way you can make your own pages but still keep them off the main site is to extend your own homepage. For instance, You can type [[User:Jason Garrick/theories]] and it's your own page. I think ZachsMind has a couple pages like this (check out this, this, or my favorite). Is that what you had in mind? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:42, 27 February 2007 (EST)
  • Yea, the third one is what I had in mind. Thanks for the tip Ryan.

Deletion policy

Sorry about that. I figured I was just reverting vandalism edits, but I see your point.--Gaimanotaku 22:28, 28 February 2007 (EST)
No problem at all... Thanks for trying to clean up the site! :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:30, 28 February 2007 (EST)

Backlinks on statistics

  • I was thinking of adding backlinks to those statistics... nice work. :) (Admin 00:42, 1 March 2007 (EST))
    • Yeah, I was just checking out our old stats (quite impressive growth, I must say!), and it was frustrating not being able to easily get back to the main page.... By the way, thanks for updating the stats so regularly. That's got to be...tedious. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:46, 1 March 2007 (EST)
      • It's not too bad, just copy and paste a block of HTML. :) Yeah, the growth is very exciting, but it's going to be depressing having Heroes on hiatus again soon. :( I'll be posting the revenue stats later on and even they are improving a great deal as well. I also wanted to point out that I deleted the "Statistics" redirect because I've always had this thing about adding redirects to non-Heroes material within the main namespace. I think the main namespace should just be Heroes related and any help or administrative pages (or redirects to either) shouldn't be located in the main namespace. (Admin 00:52, 1 March 2007 (EST))
        • I'm very offended. I'm never coming back to this stupid site again. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:54, 1 March 2007 (EST)
          • I got the sarcasm that time, can't accuse me of missing it everytime now! :) (Admin 00:57, 1 March 2007 (EST))
