Mohinder

Hey Ryan, I'm just creating and trying to fill in some of the memorable quotes pages and I noticed that on the Season Four character bar it says Mohinder is a main character, is this true? I may be incorrect but I don't believe seeing him credit, thank as always :) --IronyUTC CH 14:16, 30 September 2009 (EDT)

  • That's because he hasn't appeared yet. As soon as he appears in an episode, he should be listed with the other main characters. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:16, 1 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I may be misunderstanding you (or vice versa) but at the moment he is listed as a main character (on the Season Four main character page and on the Season Four character navbar), is this right? Thanks --IronyUTC CH 13:04, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
      • That's right. Sendhil Ramamurthy has signed a contract with NBC to be a principal actor this season, as I understand it. Therefore, assuming Sendhil still portrays Mohinder, Mohinder is a main character. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:32, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Ah, thanks for that - but shouldn't we wait for an appearance first or is that irrelevant --IronyUTC CH 16:37, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
      • I think it's irrelevant. The status of a regular cast member (and a main character) has nothing to do with appearances. It has everything to do with contracts. So assuming that NBC is correct (which might be a stretch!) in announcing Sendhil as a regular, then we should list Mohinder as a main character. It seems weird in the opening two weeks when Mohinder hasn't appeared, but it's just "one of those things", I guess. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:28, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Yeah, but two weeks isn't that much I guess - Tracy after cold Snap (well pretty much the whole of Season 3) didn't have any appearances, so I'll let Mohinder through this time ;) --IronyUTC CH 04:14, 3 October 2009 (EDT)

Speaking of our favorite fictional (East) Indian, I need a precision spoiler. If you happen to know when Mohinder will appear, could you shoot me a PM on 9th saying when that will be? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 20:02, 17 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I could probably do some searching, but I really do try to stay away from spoilers. Some I can't steer clear from, but I don't like to search them out. Ultimately, I don't know when he's going to appear next. Sorry. :( -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:09, 17 October 2009 (EDT)

What can I do to help!

I feel so worthless not helping the wiki in any way, as I'm currently not in the proper mindset and environment to write character biographies or episode summaries. I'll return to patrolling, but what else can I do to help the wiki!--Citizen 21:27, 30 September 2009 (EDT)

  • You do what you can...but there's always stubs and red links! Another fun thing to do is to do a search for a commonly misspelled word (like ocurring or Nikki) and fix spelling mistakes. And honestly, Citizen, any contributions you make are appreciated. You do what you can when you can do it. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:18, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

Adamhiro is back

He's circumvented the block and is back at his rebellious ways, under the name User:New Day. This is evidenced by his infantile mistake of revealing his true identity with this edit, which he later tried to cover up. --Radicell 06:41, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

I need help asap!!!

I was just on the primatech website and it seemed to have changed, I went in to the tracker using bennet's name and claire as the password. There was a new design and I clicked on one of the files. I entered a password but it didn't work and then this came up. Is there any way to know if this is an updated version or if this is really someone warning me and wanting to take legal action? --mc_hammark 15:26, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

  • That's a fake warning. They've been using that same message for a few years. It's to make you faux paranoid. When you're accessing primatechpaper, you're "hacking" into their website, so it's a fake warning to try to stop you. No need to worry. I'll see what I can find out about the new version. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:34, 1 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Ok, thanks, I've never had that warning before and I just wasn't sure whether or not they were serious. Oh and I think they've upgraded the site for the new company. --mc_hammark 15:36, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

Sylar confused

Hey did you actually saw a scene of Sylar appearing all confused during Samuel's speech?--Manwithnoname 19:11, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. Samuel has had more than one speech. Are you talking about the opening scene of Orientation where Sylar is wearing a blood-stained sweatshirt? I wouldn't say Sylar was confused, but definitely out of breath. Why do you ask? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:30, 1 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I'm asking because what should we made out of it? Should we say that's Nathan discovering he is Sylar? I'm confused--Manwithnoname 07:55, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
      • We can't really make much of it at all. It's a shot from an upcoming scene sometime later in the season. We don't know what's going on exactly. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:45, 2 October 2009 (EDT)

Patroller

Hey Ryan. I appreciate your offer, but I'm afraid I have to decline... for now. You see, I'm not from an English-speaking country, so I don't think my English is good enough to patrol edits and correct mistakes. I feel I type phrases wrong way too often. So maybe later, when I become more adept at English-kinesis ;) once again, thank you. AltesUTC CH

  • I have to disagree, I think your English is very good! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:45, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
  • If I'm not sounding too selfish here, I would love to be a patroller! ~~IHHTalk 15:19, 2 October 2009 (EDT)

Heads up

All the images in Category:Image Stubs are cleared for deletion. Image:TracyYellow.jpg still has a few talk pages linking to it, but I think the uploader (Pslover) has been given ample time to add a source, and since she hasn't, it's time to delete it on the grounds of being uncredited. I'm only saying this because recently I've been trying to clear out the unused files, uncategorized files, and image stubs on the Wiki, and IMO we should get rid of excess stubs ASAP. --Radicell 10:01, 2 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Thanks for your hard work, Radicell. It's very greatly appreciated! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:41, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
    • No problem. That deletion spree was a joy to behold. There's still a couple left in Category:Image Stubs, if you've got the time... --Radicell 21:58, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
      • It was kind of fun, to be honest! (It helps that I've been home sick with pneumonia for a week now.) Image stubs don't necessarily need to be deleted, but they should all the necessary things added to them. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:01, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
        • All the images in Image Stubs happen to be AFD-ed and unused, though... --Radicell 22:03, 2 October 2009 (EDT)

Daphne, Meredith, Danko and Rachel

Okay. When the Season Three History pages were created, Meredith, Daphne, Danko and Rachel all had pages. Now, they have been removed. However, Elle still has hers. Why is this? Daphne, Danko and Meredith are all dead and so is Elle. Rachel is probably never returning to the show. Daphne and Danko have appeared more times in Season Three then Elle and Meredith is about the same. Why is it that their pages have been removed?

Also, in regards to Rachel. Her page is far too long. I suggest we make an iStory history page for her or something so that we can summarise the different chapters that she has been in just like we do with Season Histories. Josh KorolenkoUTChronicles

  • If we put all of Elle's history on her page, she would have 27 subheadings. That's a lot. If we created an iStory history page for her, that page would be just as long as her main page is. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:37, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I'm just asking if we can have history pages for Danko, Meredith, Daphne and Rachel. All of them appeared just as much times as Elle and deserve to have summaries of their histories. And in regards to Rachel's iStories, do you have any ideas about what we can do to possibly shorten her page? Josh KorolenkoUTChronicles
      • Elle's page would have 27 headings if it were all on one page. Meredith's is only 15, Daphne's is only 23, and Danko's is only 18. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:52, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
        • I agree with the Meredith, Danko, and Daphne one. Elle I don't. But Rachel defenitally(sp?) I do. She needs a Season Three Page I think.. ~~IHHTalk 15:47, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Let me see what I can work on. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:29, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
            • 23 is only four less than 27, not a huge difference, I think Daphne's history should be reverted to a summary. I think even 15 is too many, but you never continued this dicussion, so why should I assume you'd listen to me, because you clearly don't take me seriously. --Skullman1392 19:34, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
              • No, I just disagree with you. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:18, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
                • Skullman1392, I think the standards are 27(or somewhere around there) and appearing in multiple seasons. It would be pointless to put Daphne's on another page because that's the only season she has appeared in and she probably won't appear again..~~IHHTalk 19:55, 9 October 2009 (EDT)

The party

Ryan, I keep forgetting to ask you about your party on September, 21. I've gotta know! How was it? AltesUTC CH

  • Oh, it was great! We had Oreos (because they look like eclipses) and popcorn in little boxes. NBC sent everybody some comic books from Comic Con, and they gave us some candy, pretzels, and fun stuff like that. One of my friends came dressed as Daphne. We had a really great time! Thanks for asking... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:47, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Give me a sample of the formula. I'll inject myself and see if I can time travel so I could visit the party :D AltesUTC CH

Catalyst as Patroller

Whoa, are you serious?! Yes I would love to be a patroller. Thank you very much!--Catalyst · Talk · HL 18:37, 2 October 2009 (EDT)

  • On the Special:Recentchanges page, why doesn't the un-exclamation point ones disappear once gone? ~~IHHTalk 21:44, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
    • When an edit is patrolled, the red exclamation point disappears. Are you looking at the full recent changes, or the recent changes with the patrolled edits hidden? Explain a little more what you mean... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:49, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Oh, I'm sorry, I was looking at the full one! So, what if one doesn't get checked within three days (or more), and it is gone from the page? How will it ever get patrolled? ~~IHHTalk 21:52, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
        • If you look at this page, it will list just the edits that still need to be patrolled. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:00, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Oh! Ok, thanks! ~~IHHTalk 22:05, 2 October 2009 (EDT)
  • What are the rules on profanity? ~~IHHTalk 18:02, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
    • They are loose rules, but we look down upon it. We try to use the level of "cleanliness" as the show. The show doesn't really curse, except for a few veiled expletives. I think we should be along the same lines. If somebody lets one slip, I wouldn't necessarily block them if it seemed innocent. If it continued, I would block them. Why do you ask? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:12, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
      • In the midst of patrolling today, I saw someone (I don't remember who) that had a cuss word on their page and I didn't know if it needed to be removed or not. ~~IHHTalk 21:37, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Feel free to use your discretion (that's one of the reasons you were chosen to be a patroller). But if you're not sure, feel free to not patrol the edit, and then either alert an administrator or a patroller whom you trust. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:54, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Well I don't like the use of profanity but I know that in quotes, you can't change what they say and then I wasn't sure about the rules here! Thanks!~~IHHTalk 22:21, 3 October 2009 (EDT)

Sorry to bother you about this again...

Sorry to bother you about this again, but you seem to be the only person who would have a chance to get in touch with Heroes higher-ups for me. Since the Premiere Event that had my clips isn't on the Season 3 DVD, I'm trying to contact NBC again, but every time I try to submit an e-mail to NBC, I get an error. Is there anything you can think of that I can do, or anything you can do to help me out? This is what I'm trying to e-mail them with: During the Heroes Season 3 - Countdown to the Premiere Event, they showed a series of clips showing fans exhibiting powers. Two of these clips were mine. I can't find the show anywhere online and the premiere event was not included on the Season 3 DVD, so I was really hoping if you guys could send me a copy of the event, so I have something to keep. I'll pay for it if I really have to. I just want something I can show my friends and family who missed it. The only reason I haven't emailed sooner is that I was hoping it'd be on the DVD, which it isn't. The links below are the two clips that were featured. Thank you so much for reading this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-FFxWr4yNY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui06TZnmw30 Thanks so much either way.--Riddler 13:28, 3 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Yeah, I remember you being in the countdown episode, Riddler. Let me put out some more feelers... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:30, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Feelers?--Riddler 13:30, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Tentacles. Antennae.... Emails. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:31, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Ahhh. Thank you so much. :)--Riddler 13:32, 3 October 2009 (EDT)

Hiro Nakamura dying

hey, ryan! what are your thoughts on hiro dying on the show. do you think that this would change much? if so, how? Aren't I Great?

congratulations on your new baby, who is on the way...beautiful family! Aren't I Great?

  • Thanks, IAA! I'm not sure if Hiro will die or not...but I think Heroes is bigger than Hiro. If he were to die, it would be a sad moment, just like when Isaac died, Charlie died, Eden died, Niki died, D.L. died, and Nathan died. I'm also sure that if he did die, it would serve the greater story. However, if you want my prediction, I don't think he'll die. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:33, 3 October 2009 (EDT)
  • hey, ryangibsonstewart! i actually just read something that said that Masi Oka doesn't want hiro resurrected if the writers choose to do this, or if he dies. can you confirm this and give me a bit more information on this please? thanks! Aren't I Great?
    • No, I haven't read this, so I can't confirm it or give you any information about it. But if you read it, why do you need me to confirm it? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:21, 4 October 2009 (EDT)
      • I read that, and I thought it was quite valiant of Masi Oka. Basically he saai that he would rather Hiro died that the show be cheapened by them giving him an easy option out, I thought it was a good thing to say with all the other cop outs we've had :) --IronyUTC CH 12:06, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

Announcement

Hey everybody. I just wanted to formally announce that I have been hired to work for NBC as a digital writer. I'm not sure if I can't say specifically what I will be doing, but I can say that my area of focus will be on the Heroes: Survival game, and I will also have a hand in other areas of the online content. Just wanted to let everybody know! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:24, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Wow, congrats! Nice job, Ryan. -- Tristan0709 talk 01:48, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Good for you (if you were unemployed) ! I hope they won't make you sign some papers forcing you to stop beeing a contributor to HeroesWiki ! --  (talk) 03:04, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Thanks! I was employed, and will continue working at my other job. I'm a teacher. And no, I don't need to stop contributing to Heroes Wiki. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 03:06, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Oh I see, it will be an online job somehow, which you the best then. --  (talk) 03:21, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
          • It's great, Ryan, congrats! AltesUTC CH
            • Congratulations Ryan, I'm really happy on your behalf and I hope that it goes well. I feel that it will bring you happiness and luck, sincerely... :) I'm thinking not only TO you. You'll be an excellent addition to them, to the crew I mean =) --Janrodrigo 04:03, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
              • Great news! Now, your first job is to write something about Sylar and have him explicitly naming Trevor's ability! Then, reveal to us the names of every single unnamed character since Season One! Oh and, don't forget to make blatant references to your fellow contributors on Heroes Wiki in your writing! ;) --Radicell 07:38, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
                • :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:48, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • So this means that your word counts as cannon material now, over things like naming abilities with a person's name? --mc_hammark 10:17, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
                    • No. However, if I have inside information (like with empathy), I will say so. Otherwise, my word is no stronger than anybody else's word. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:20, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
                      • Oh well, congrats at least. --mc_hammark 10:21, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Congrats, Ryan! That's great news! Would you like me to add your crew member page, or would you like to do that yourself? :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:36, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
    • This is probably late but congrats from me aswell! :)--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 15:29, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Miami, I'm curious to see what you know about me. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:00, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Ok, I've just sent you a draft and some other info. to your e-mail.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:03, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
  • So you are now a writer for Heroes? ~~IHHTalk 16:12, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Not one of these guys. I'm one of these guys. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:25, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
    • That is absolutely incredible! Congrats! A megafan turned writer. That's the impossible dream. Not so impossible... You are truly deserving...Awesome! --Heroes360 17:19, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
          • I'm confused... How exactly will you be writing for HSG? I mean, isn't HSG a game where users submit their own content? --Radicell 20:50, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Like everyone else said... 'Grats, Ryan! That's a cool opportunity! Hope ya have fun with it and can share teaser-y stuff when ya can! 'ROESian

Heroes Interactive iSMS

I hope you still have the Heroes Interactive for last week's episode, Ink, and will be posting it later. Anyways, I've set up to get the messages for tonight's Heroes during PT, so I'll post that when I can after the show.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:31, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I do (I'd better, especially since it's already so heavily linked on the site, and is the source for one of our power names!)...I'm just behind. Thanks for getting them tonight. I'll be receiving them too, in case you need a back up. I guess I'll do next week's. :) PS, check your email. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:59, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Got your e-mail. I sent you a reply with a bunch of goodies. ;) Regarding iSMS, yeah, if you can do next week's, that would be great. Thanks.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:27, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Glad y'all are doin' 'em. I started recordin' them at 9thW last year, but got busy with offline life stuff... 'ROESian
  • Ryan, I guess I'll grab this coming Monday's Heroes Interactive. Don't forget to post this week's and the one for Ink.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:38, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Thanks. I know, I'm awful at getting those posted! I promise I'll get them done tonight, after I finish my graduate coursework. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:49, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Um...tonight or tomorrow. :∫ -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:44, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Thanks for getting those two interactive's posted today. I'm working on writing up tonight's now.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:32, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
          • You're much more diligent than I am. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:35, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
            • Thanks for thinking that, but I've got a few things to catch up on still. One question regarding HI for Ink, did it actually ask who was Edgar's deceased brother or is that your typo? Do you think they just meant brother in the figurative sense?--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:13, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
              • That's what it said. I think it was just a mistake on the part of NBC, to be honest. The answer to the question even says that it's Samuel's brother. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:17, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
                • Ok, was just curious. Thanks. You can grab next week's interactive and I'll get the following one.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:50, 20 October 2009 (EDT)

Patrolling

Give me a second to think about this... ABSOLUTELY! Sign me up! Thank you so much! -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 21:26, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Thank you! Do you happen to know when it was I joined this wiki? I see that I am supposed to include that in my patroller post but I don't quite remember exactly when it was. Would you mind starting up my section so I can fill in the details? -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 22:07, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

Recurring Characters

I don't know if you're the one to talk to this about but we are three/four episodes in and I think it is pretty safe to say that Samuel, Lydia, Edgar, Gretchen and Kimiko can be added to recurring characters. Samuel, Lydia have appeared in every episode, every graphic novel and every webisode/iStory since Season Four started with Edgar only missing out on Ink. Gretchen and Kimiko have both appeared in three episodes (Kimiko also appearing in Stolen Fate). I think its time to make them recurring characters. Josh KorolenkoUTChronicles

  • When they appear in four episodes, that's when we make them recurring characters. Hang on for one more episode! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:52, 6 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I have finished all of the character updates for the new ep and will be doing lots of iStory stuff now. Have you seen that photograph of the Bowman family in their trailer? It looks like actual people. If only it were bigger! Josh KorolenkoUTChronicles

Kelly Houston and Nathan Petrelli

hey, ryan! i was just looking at kelly houston's page and then nathan petrelli's page. nathan's page says that one of his significant others was kelly houston. but, if you go to kelly houston's page, you see that there is no significant other. could you please clear this up and fix this whatever it is? thanks! Aren't I Great?

  • Although I believe they may have had a relationship, all we've ever seen is them flirting. They shouldn't be listed as significant others. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:53, 6 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I rewatched the episode and Millie says to Nathan that she knows "they had been seeing each other". Shouldn't this be enough evidence that there was a relationship?--Dan 17:00, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
      • As of right now, Kelly and Nathan are listed as significant others for one another. I have left the page alone because I suppose I have a different definition of "significant others" than other people here at the wiki. I believe they had a relationship and that they were flirting, and that they were "seeing each other". But when I grew up (which was around the time that Nathan grew up), "seeing each other" didn't necessarily mean you were that person's significant other. But maybe that's just me... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:25, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Originally I thought significant others were husband and wife or boyfriend/girlfriend but if you think about it, Kelly was obviously significant for Nathan, as even after he had his memory wiped he was, and I quote "heartbroken". --mc_hammark 17:38, 9 October 2009 (EDT)

wow

I am done. Seriously I give up. Any little thing I do, you shoot down immeadiatly. Whatever I did to make you amd, I'm sorry, but it drives me crazy that I can't do anything on this site without you finding something wrong with it, or say something without you getting an attitude. I've tried to be nice and move past things, but you just keep being short with me. I don't know what your damage is, and I really don't care. I'm done. --Skullman1392 00:14, 7 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about. What attitude do I have? What did I find wrong? Is it because I changed the picture of the recurring characters/supporting actors to Emile Danko? You seem to be taking that personally... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:16, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
    • It's not only that I feel like every time I make an edit, you're right there to reverse it. Then you make a big deal of me changing Daphne's picture and then change it in the same manner I did. I try to forget these things and try to be nice in other areas, but on talk pages I feel like you're especially short with me, like you think I'm stupid and just don't want to deal with me and I'm sick of it. --00:31, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Nope, I don't think you're stupid. I'm sorry you're taking edits personally. I don't know when I've been short with you, but I'm sorry you feel that way. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:37, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Skullman1392 - It's none of my biz, however, I think that it's just something a person either has to get used to or not mess with. I'm not familiar with the rules of how things are supposed to be posted here, and others are really meticulous and make a point of keeping up with the rules for formatting or punctuation or whatever. Since it's all user contributions, too, though, not all edits and content are consistent either, so maybe that's frustratin' fer ya. But some folks attempt to make all the various user contributions have some sorta consistency, and those who get to patrol and edit stuff have been given the authority to have the last say. Just how things are done; I doubt it's really a personal attack or anything. There's just a certain way to do things here which has been deemed as approved. Also, maybe the wiki community seems a little clique-ish, but how ya view it depends on if you can roll with it or not... Just my pair o' Zinc Linc's, which won't even get ya an ounce of unleaded gasoline. :) 'ROESian

Hey

Hi Jan. I saw that you are a fan of Kyle XY, just as I am. I have been wondering something for a while now, and you are the only person I know who likes the show (weird huh?). Do you have any theories on why they have such a long gap in time when each season ends? It just kind of bugs me that it takes so long for it to come back.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 21:18, 6 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Kyle XY is one of my favorites. I think they have such a long gap between seasons because they air the show in the summers, so there's more time between the end and the beginning. The seasons are also much shorter than normal (10 episodes, I think, as opposed to 20+ episodes for a regular show), so there's more time between seasons. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:27, 6 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I'm very happy that you guys like the show as I do. I actually bought the DVD, which I do for only the shows I actually am a great fan of. (Else, I only have some DVDs of Smallville and Heroes but not any other show.) While waiting for a long time, for the show to start again, I was also intrigued by the same question around two weeks ago. And I searched the net about when the show is coming back. Very saddening and frustrating it was to me; I found out that the show was unfortunately cancelled. Sorry guys for such a bad news. But I still little bit hope that I might be wrong. --Janrodrigo 06:22, 7 October 2009 (EDT)

A Few Questions

Hey - great job with the site as always.

I have a few questions -

Should Tracy's ability be updated to include "Water Mimicry" as well as "Freezing"? She obviously hasn't shown any freezing this season - only water control. I know it is probably an extension of the freezing ability, but maybe it should then be "water temperature control" or something.

Also - Why has Samuel been removed from the main characters page? And will the Recurring characters page reappear once more episodes are shown? -Dan

  • Tracy has shown freezing in Orientation when she was attacked by Edgar and freezing Noah's car in attempt to kill him. And has been either voted or confirmed that it is still freezing. And I don't know what position Samuel is in.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 19:41, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Catalyst is right, Tracy has only been confirmed to have freezing. It seems that her power is evolving, not that she has gained a new ability. See here, here, here, and especially here for further discussion on the issue. Samuel was removed from the main characters portal because every time Robert Knepper has been credited, it's been as a guest star. At Heroes Wiki, we consider a character to be "recurring" when they appear for four episodes (see here). Since only three episodes have aired, there are no recurring characters yet. There are a few who have appeared in all three episodes (like Samuel and Lydia); when they appear in their fourth, that's when we'll open up the recurring characters portal (and supporting cast portal) again. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:53, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Gotcha. Thanks guys! - Dan
        • Hey, Ryan, we've had four episodes. The season started with a two hour premiere, and Robert Knepper's been in all four. :3--Riddler 10:44, 8 October 2009 (EDT)
          • The two-hour premiere was one episode. So altogether, we've had three episodes: Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall, Ink, and Acceptance. The next episode (Hysterical Blindness) is the fourth episode. After a character appears in all four, they can be considered a recurring character on Heroes Wiki. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:01, 8 October 2009 (EDT)

Just a little detail...

Hi Ryan,

I just wanted to ask about a little thing. I'd based "Mohinder's office" to the name of the wiki article itself and to the name, the user Heroes360 used in his user page. However, there is a website, if you go and enter the site, you can play the game and there it calls it "Suresh's Loft". So may be the site made the name up so, or was it really called so? --Janrodrigo 02:27, 8 October 2009 (EDT)

401a and 401b vs. 401, 402

Just a heads-up. Spikey1989 has been changing the episode numbers back to 401, 402, 403, etc. I'm not sure where the discussion/source is regarding them to be 401a, 401b, etc., but I think you had changed the numbers to that setup earlier so I'm letting you know so you could clarify.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:45, 8 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Thanks for letting me know, Miami. Orientation and Jump, Push, Fall are two parts of the same episode. In essence, they are one episode. Ink is the second chapter of the fourth season, and the second episode. See here and here for previous discussion on the subject. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:59, 8 October 2009 (EDT)

Hi Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I was just thinking that the first names should redirect to the characters if there're no other characters by that name, like Sandra redirecting to Sandra Bennet... But do we do that to only important characters? By the way, I hope I'm not doing too many or uncontrolled edits, like the ones I reverted today, the episode numbers... or should I've asked you before reverting what some people do? And what do you think of How to Relive Heroes? It's just a start, I plan on including everything. I advance slowly, because I've a thesis to write, but my head is a mess, these days... Anyway, just wanted to say hello actually. Take care, --Janrodrigo 22:45, 8 October 2009 (EDT)

  • For redirects, I don't think they only need to be for "important" characters, but in the case of Jonas Zimmerman, his first name comes from a deleted scene. There's nothing really wrong with that, but it is kind of a dodgy source, or at least not one that's well known. But if anybody is searching for Jonas, the first pages that come up have to do with Dr. Zimmerman, so people will find the page pretty quickly. As for your edits, they're terrific. Keep them up. You were correct to revert the episode numbers. Ink is, indeed, 402, and Acceptance is the third chapter of the fourth volume. Cool subpage, too! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:54, 8 October 2009 (EDT)

IMDb names

Hey Ryan. So what are the rules on character names given by IMDb? I've noticed that Jason (Special Agent)'s name comes from IMDb (he was never called Jason onscreen or in the credits), and we use the name "Jason" without hesitation. However, the LAPD captain's name is given on IMDb as "Captain Knox", yet we don't use that name. So how do we discern between which names we use and which we don't? Also, could you look at the last section of Talk:Trevor's ability, thanks. --Radicell 00:44, 9 October 2009 (EDT)

  • We don't really have rules about which names we use from IMDb and which we don't. We have a history of being pretty liberal with names of characters, though. I think the idea is that if we're given a name for a character, we'll use it over something like "NYPD officer (III)" or "FBI agent (II)" whenever we can. I don't mind moving the captain's name to "Captain Knox". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:50, 9 October 2009 (EDT)

Episode numbers

Its says the samething as i did! "Episode 401 | Season 4 | 09/21/2009"

"Episode 402 | Season 4 | 09/21/2009"

"Episode 403 | Season 4 | 09/28/2009"

Press on the link on the side if u want to look more close to it ;) u said it yourself, NBC was your source.

jump, push, fall is 402 not 401b. so Ink will then be 403 look at the links above!

but yes, Ink is cahpter two. that i agree on but not that its episode two.

if i'm wrong now then i dont know how u ppl see it.

/Spikey

  • I agree. In terms of casting and production, Jump, Push, Fall was a separate episode. Not that I mean to spam Ryan's talk page, though. -- Tristan0709 talk 07:01, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
    • i can add this link to a torrent site on the web that says that the first episode did send with episode two.

S=Season E=Episode Look here: Epsiode 1&2 Look here: Episode 3

btw u can ask any1 and 90% of them will say that Jump, Push, fall is episode two and not part.2 of episode 1. plus that episode three is called Ink not Acceptance. I can even go so far and send a mail to NBC and ask them what they think. cause right should be right!

/Spikey1989

      • Spikey is right, the NBC site has Orientation as 401, JPF as 402, Ink as 403, and Acceptance as 404. I don't agree that Ink is "Chapter two" though. Separate episodes are separate chapters, unless noted by "Part one" and "Part two" (or more). They just gave us a two hour premiere to up the hype. Spikey, as a note, to sign a post you can type --~~~~ or click the little signature button above the text area (second button from the right.) --Riddler 09:32, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
        • I just noticed the title cards for Ink and Acceptance. Why in the world would they have done that? Regardless the site has them listed as separate episodes...--Riddler 09:35, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Actually I think the point is that JPF is 402 and still part of chapter one. Like A Clear and Present Danger episode 313 or 314(I don't remember) but it is still chapter one. ~~IHHTalk 15:18, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
  • "Actually I think the point is that JPF is 402 and still part of chapter one" That i agree, its was to that i edited, but then later was removed cause it was worng. but acording to every site and everyone i talk to so am i right besides a few ppl on this site. that don't agree with me and all the others. A Clear and Present Danger is just one episode and one chapter. --Spikey1989 16:48, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
    • We don't use Torrent, or TV.com, or any of the other sources you've listed, Spikey1989, to determine our episode numbers. We use the episodes themselves and NBC as a backup. I don't see episode numbers in the link you placed above, but I do see that they placed Orientation and Jump, Push, Fall in the wrong order--I'm not sure that's the best source. However, here they list Orientation and Jump, Push, Fall as one episode. They do the same at NBCUMV. Spikey, if you would like to "send a mail to NBC", that would be really great. Though I should say that in all the internal documents I've seen from NBC, they all list Ink as the second episode, not the third. And really, our best source is the episode itself. There is no discernible break between the two parts, and there is no episode/chapter title for the second part, which would be the first episode to have that. Further, the credits listed "Part 1 directed by...", "Part 2 directed by...", "Part 1 written by...", and "Part 2 written by...". And despite any other links that support (or refute) that listing, our episodes are our best, most reliable source. It's all the information we need. The rest is supplementary. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:20, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
  • how can u miss it?! it say "Episode 402 | Season 4 | 09/21/2009" or do i need to get my eyes fixes? what does it say inside the red square, if u press on the other episdoes will u see that "Ink" says Episode 403 and "Acceptence" says Episode 404.

(added)... mail sent, I know i'm right. why cant u admit it?

"We don't use Torrent, or TV.com, or any of the other sources you've listed," a great question for you. how do u know that the other persons here don't download from torrentsites or look up episodes on tv.com? can u tell me that no 1 else here do that? if not dont says that "We" dont do that. Btw, i have listed three site. Torrentz.com, TV.com and NBC.com (offcial site) and u still deny that it. You can search on goolge and u will still find that JMP is ep two. --Spikey1989 18:32, 9 October 2009 (EDT)

  • He was using "We" meaning the website and its rules or standards, not every individual or person that has an account here. Why can't you admit that just because someone disagrees with you, you have to pretty much yell at them. Why can't you be nicer? By the way, "you" is not spelled "u"; "I'm" is capitalized, not "i'm"; "By the way" is not spelled "Btw"; the start of a new sentence is always capitalized; "I" is capitalized; "don't" has an apostrophe; "1" is a number not the word "one"(used as you did up there "no 1" and "any1"); "can't" has an apostrophe; "cause" has a "be" in front of it("because"); and "ppl" is not how you spell "people". Maybe you hadn't heard, but this is the way the english language is used and I'm sure a lot of people don't like you being mean to our friend, Ryan. ~~IHHTalk 19:42, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Spikey, my talk page is not the place for this discussion, and I agree with Iheartheroes, you're being quite rude. Regardless, NBC is not a canon source. If we were to use NBC as an official source, D.L. would be a shapeshifter, Leonard Roberts would portray the Haitian, the first episode Bryan Fuller wrote would be called Come Together, and numerous other mistakes would permeate the site. NBC is a supplementary source. (However, I should also point out that I've seen plenty of places on NBC.com, NBCUMV.com, and from internal NBC documents that list Ink as the second episode.) Our canon source is the episodes themselves. The episode called Orientation "Part 1" and Jump, Push, Fall "Part 2". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:16, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Just because I'm not from US or Great Brittany do you not have to criticise my spelling. I do the best I can. I know how to spell You, I, I'm. I just type u, i, i'm casue it goes faster to type. I can apologize for using your talk as a discussion place. but why u wont agree with me that cant i understand. I've proved many times that I'm right but it fells like u cant accept that, I'm not yelling at any of you. Just because the show is from US doesn't that men only just US people watch it are shown all over the world and I think more then me here and in the world that look on this page for info about the show agree with me that JPF is episode two and Ink is episode three. So your're saing that JPF was misstakly called 402 on their website and they are not allowed to do misstake because then its will be totaly wrong?

You didn't say what you found on the picture i added, is that because you found out if i was right?

I can move the discusson some place else, but were can I get your attention if I move it?

Is it possible to make a Vote here on the wiki? I can after that agree with the result. Then everyone will able to vote and say what they think. That do i think is the best way to settle this. --Spikey1989 05:06, 10 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I'm not criticizing your spelling...but I believe somebody else was because you're coming off very rude and pushy, Spikey. I don't need to agree with you just because you believe you've proven your point. I believe I've proven my point, too, yet I don't expect you to automatically agree with me. Yes, I did see the image to which you linked (you have to click a few buttons from the link that you originally gave, which is why I didn't see the information to which you were referring). I also found plenty of places where NBC calls Orientation and Jump, Push, Fall one episode. Yes, I'm saying that JPF was mistakenly called 402 on their website, just as they've made plenty of other mistakes on their website. This is an easy mistake to make, considering that there's a lot of confusion about whether there were two episodes or just one shown during the premiere. (I also don't think NBC is highly concerned with the numbering of their episodes, as it ultimately really doesn't affect their content.) However, I will point out again that NBC is not a canon source. It is a source that we use to supplement our information. There is obviously conflicting information at NBC, so using one image or one link to prove a point doesn't really hold much water. Instead, we use the episodes themselves as our canon source. The premiere episode referred to "Part 1" and "Part 2". In contrast, in the Season Three premiere, there was a definite beginning and end for The Second Coming and The Butterfly Effect. That was not the case for Orientation / Jump, Push, Fall, which are two parts of the same episode. But again, this is not an issue between you and me. This is an issue that affects the entire site, so it should be discussed in a more public form, especially at discussions that have already been started, like here or here or here. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:14, 10 October 2009 (EDT)

Is "The Haitian"s name revealed?

In CBR News that I read by chance, I saw Hayden calling the Haitian by the name: René The Haitian. So, is his name was revealed this way? Quote:

"[Claire] is in college with a new best friend and roommate," said Panettiere of Claire Bennett's life for the year. While the actress is uncertain if Claire will be in college throughout the year, the setting introduces something the character has not had since the first season: a close friend. "She's finally got what Zach was: a confidant. Somebody she can tell her secrets to; who she can trust," Panettiere revealed. "That's a very delicate balance that can easily fall apart and one little misstep and her dad will bring Rene the Haitian to wipe their memories."

--Janrodrigo 08:17, 12 October 2009 (EDT)

  • That interview comes from a former Heroes Wiki editor who, in my opinion, makes lots of mistakes in his transcripts. He has a history of sloppy interviewing on Heroes Wiki, Lostpedia, and his own site. Certainly it's possible that the Haitian's name was revealed, but I think it's entirely plausible that the interviewer misheard Hayden Panettiere when she said something else. I also have a hard time believing that such a huge revelation would be spilled in an conversation with a relatively no-name interviewer (who also has a history of being a drama queen and going to great lengths to seek attention). -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:20, 12 October 2009 (EDT)

Spoilers

First Gretchen and Claire's kiss, now Jeremy's ability... Is it just me or people have begun to care less about spoiler policy this season? AltesUTC CH

  • You're right. I actually take it to be a good sign, that people are really invested in the show. I haven't seen spoilers leak onto the site this badly since the first season. Simone's death, Isaac's death, Claire's father, Eden's ability, Peter's explosion, Sylar killing his mother, Claude...those were all spoilers that were nearly impossible to keep off the site. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:18, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
    • To me that's a sign we need a stricter spoiler policy, or that the current one needs to be enforced more heavily. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:56, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
      • I think we have a pretty strict spoiler policy: spoilers only belong on spoiler pages. We don't even allow them on talk pages or theory pages. They're also pretty strictly enforced. If I were to look right now, I don't think I would see any spoilers where they don't belong, or at least no more than seeing spelling mistakes on the site. In other words, I think the policy is good, and the enforcement is good (that's where good patrollers like you come in). But the real issue is simply that people will post spoilers where they don't belong, just as people make spelling mistakes. (Okay, maybe it's not a perfect parallel, but hopefully the point comes across.) People will make mistakes, break the policy, and post things they shouldn't. It's up to us to fix, clean, and remind. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:59, 16 October 2009 (EDT)

Edits "lost" in recent changes

I've been trying to go through all the User namespace edits and patrol them. Unfortunately, it seems Recent Changes has reached its limit and won't show me older edits. For example, this is the page i use to find all the edits, and I've patrolled all the unpatrolled ones already. Now, all that's left are my edits, but those from one week ago are gone (ie. won't show up). I tried changing the URL to &limit=1000, but that doesn't seem to work... any suggestions? Or are those unpatrolled edits going to stay unpatrolled forever? --Radicell 09:45, 17 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Or does this mean that there are no more unpatrolled edits in the User section? I had seen so many unpatrolled User edits that this did not occur to me. --Radicell 09:55, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
    • A few things. First, thank you. You're a lifesaver for all the work you do around here. Second, there's a time limit to patrol edits. I don't know what it is (Admin might), but my unofficial observations say it's somewhere around two weeks. If an edit doesn't get patrolled by then, it is neither patroller nor unpatrolled. I have never figured out a way to patrol edits whose time limits have expired, and they no longer show up in the unpatrolled edits list. I call it patrolling limbo. Third, just as an FYI, on the recent changes, the highest amount I've ever seen that can be shown is 5000. That goes for what links here, edit histories, and any other place where you can change the amount of entries shown. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:20, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Wha-- so you're saying that even if I hadn't patrolled those edits, they would've eventually lose their "unpatrolled" status by themselves? Grr... oh well, I guess the "patrolled" status is better than "neither patrolled nor unpatrolled"... --Radicell 10:38, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Pretty much. It kind of sucks, doesn't it? I don't really bother to patrol user edits (nobody else does either except for you, it seems!) because I user pages kind of fall under a whole different realm. In fact, when I go through the recent changes, I hide all edits made to user pages. That's because there really are no rules to govern user pages, other than good taste and no new or unnecessary red links. I figure I can check for red links through special:wantedpages, and I'll hear about poor taste (pornography, cyber bullying, intimidating behavior, spam, etc.) from other users. That's just my two cents, though. It certainly helps to have user pages patrolled, it's just a much lower priority than any other patrols. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:45, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Well in my defense, I was unaware about this patrolling limbo. I thought that those unpatrolled user pages would just form a huge backlog which would eventually, someone would have to clean up. Little did I know that they'd clean themselves up... oh well, I guess I'll know next time! --Radicell 10:53, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
            • No defense needed, you're doing a great job. And I learned the hard way, too. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:58, 17 October 2009 (EDT)

Namechange for Healing

  • Hi Ryan. First off, Can you believe that I have been a year here in HeroesWiki?...time flies by pretty fast :) I still remember the day when I had a fight with TEN which ended his evil works here in HeroesWiki LOL. Back to the discussion, I would just like to know what you think about the namechange for Healing to Healing Touch. I have given the details on the Healing talk page. --NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 13:35, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
Oops, I forgot, spoilers aren't allowed in some talkpages. Here's what I wrote in the talkpage. "I dont really know if this can be considered as a spoiler. But then its a trailer for the next episode. The trailer for Tabula Rasa features the profile of a new character, and he was described that he's a healer. What I'm trying to say is that the profile that listed his ability was named as "Healing Touch". And since the current name "Healing" isn't a high level canon name, I'd say a namechange should be made."--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 13:43, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
  • Yeah, you're right, spoilers don't belong on any pages that don't have "spoiler" in the title...including talk pages. We can discuss the name change after the episode airs. And happy anniversary tomorrow! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:51, 17 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Thanks! and oh well, whats the worst that could happen if we wait :) Thanks for the greeting again! --NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 11:44, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

New template

What do you think of this? It need some work, maybe the iStory characters etc. that I'm not familiar with, and so on, but promotion to mainspace? -- Tristan0709 talk 06:00, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

  • It's well made (though you're right, it's definitely missing some things). However, I think we really should be getting away from templates like that, and stick to the navbars instead. I think the few remaining ones we have left have all been nominated for deletion (some for years!), and the only reason I haven't deleted them yet is because it's a lot of work to remove them from the articles, and to add the correct category in its place... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:59, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Ryan, I would love to help you remove all of the templates from the pages, in fact I will do that. But what do you mean by adding them to the correct category? ~~IHHTalk 15:19, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Aren't some pages categorized into Category:The Company through the Company template? If so, when we remove the template, we'll have to make sure we manually add the category instead. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:14, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
        • My bad. I was thinking of the Linderman template. And yes, we do use the template to add the category. (I think we learned our lesson when we deleted the Company template, but I can't remember...obviously). So really, we just need to remove red links and make sure the category is manually added. And thanks so much for your offer. That's very kind. And just for that, I'll add Heroes Interactive:Ink and Heroes Interactive:Hysterical Blindness right now! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:17, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
          • So, am I going through and deleting them and adding categories?? ~~IHHTalk 15:19, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
            • Yes, if the category isn't already manually added. Use this as your guide. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:20, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
              • Ok, I will in a minute! ~~IHHTalk 15:28, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
                • So, on the talk pages for episodes and stuff, I un-bracket-ed the links, but if it didn't have an x, I put "DEL" for "Deleted" is that okay? Or right? Or what? ~~IHHTalk 16:21, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • Oh, you mean on the episode checklist? Yeah, that's fine. And thanks for all that work! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:39, 18 October 2009 (EDT) :)
                    • You're welcome! And I'm glad that works! There is only one page that I can't delete the links on (the first on that list you gave me) ~~IHHTalk 16:42, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

Heroes Wiki:Current events ? That page will update itself after a little while. It also looks like there are a few remaining links on some of the webisode talk pages. If you don't get them or if somebody else doesn't get them, I'll grab them later. I'll also go ahead and delete the other series navbars since they've been nominated for a few years now... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:46, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Ok. And wow that was alot! I did the Linderman one, the Pinehearst one, and the Sylar one. Are there any more? ~~IHHTalk 17:18, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Yes, it really is a lot, isn't it! Thank so much for all that work. I really appreciate it. No, I don't think there are any more. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:19, 18 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Ok then! It is done! Besides that one! ~~IHHTalk 17:23, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

Interview

On the page for the interactive transcript of hysterical blindness, there is a link to an NBC website. On the page is a link to a video with the actress who plays Amanda (lydia's daughter). I can't access the video but I think it counts as an interview. I can't find any interview with her yet so I'm assuming it isn't recorded here yet. I don't know the process for interviews like this so I'll leave up to someone more experienced. Here's the link. Just wanted to give you a heads up. --mc_hammark 17:28, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Yes, I saw that interview with Sasha Pieterse. It's a good one! (There was also a similar interview with Robert Knepper and another with Ray Park, if I recall correctly.) The interview can go in the External Links section of the actor's page, and can also go on the bottom of the interviews page. Feel free to add it (though you'll have to wait until Sasha's page is written, of course). :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:05, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

Webisode Checklists

I was about to do some of the checklists in the webisode section, but I noticed that Slow Burn, Part 1 and 2 do not have a checklist. I would do it, but I don't know how it is done, exactly..Do you just copy and paste? Or do you put a code down? Anyways, I just thought that it was odd! Thanks Ryan! ~~IHHTalk 07:16, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Also, (I didn' want to have ANOTHER heading! lol!) does it matter how many user subpages we have? Like, will it take to much space up in the server an whtt not? ~~IHHTalk 16:37, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
    • If you go to the webisode's talk page, you'll see a button that creates the checklist for you. But the code is simply . I'll let you try it on your own. And no, it doesn't really matter how many subpages we have. If you're concerned with space on the server, check with Admin. But as long as they're legitimate pages (and not spam or pages you're using to host images, write a blog, or anything like that) you should be fine. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:41, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Okay, well I was meaning for my fan story. I was thinking about aking character pages for some that don't have any as of yet. Would that be possible at all? ~~IHHTalk 17:08, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Ah, I see. Yes, that's fine, of course! Feel free to use the subst:newwebisodechecklist code for personal use, too. It may mean, of course, that you might have to change some links, like the "Category:Images from ___" link, etc. But I'm sure you'll figure all that out... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:15, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Thanks for the offer! But I had already made my own! lol! ~~IHHTalk 20:45, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

Hi, Ryan

Sorry I haven't been on much, schoolwork, but doing some History coursework, I thought it would be good to have a page forthe Viet Cong. Anway have a look, it will obviously need editing, thanks-- By Danko CH 14:18, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I'll leave my comments on that page's talk page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:14, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Could you have at look at this as well please?-- By Danko CH 14:27, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
      • There are some grammar mistakes (missing periods, missing spaces between periods and parentheses, etc.) but other than that it looks good. I would choose a different lead image, though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:32, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Is that better?-- By Danko CH 17:07, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Yes. One of the images in the gallery isn't working. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:32, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
            • I was asking IE about it before, whether there is an uploaded picture of the scene at the end of Jump, Push, Fall where Peter finds the injured Noah on the steps, and he says Edgar took the compass. But he wasn't sure, do you think there is one?-- By Danko CH 17:36, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
              • I haven't seen any. I'll grab one in a moment. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:08, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
                • Here you go. By the way, if you want my personal opinion on the lead image, I think this one is the best choice. It's a really cool shot, it shows a victim, and it shows the weapon used. That's just my thought, though. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:23, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • Cool thanks Ryan, and I'll add the picture in-- By Danko CH 11:10, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
                    • Is there a possibility it could be moved?-- By Danko CH 18:36, 23 October 2009 (EDT)
                      • I think it should be moved into the main namespace. You might want to add the rename tag to see if there's any opposition. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:37, 23 October 2009 (EDT)
                        • Done, thanks Ryan-- By Danko CH 18:41, 23 October 2009 (EDT)

User talk:NileQT87

  • Hi Ryan! I seem to have a little problem. I dont want to make accusations in here or anything but I'm just afraid that this guy may be trying to frame me over sockpuppeting. Just to clear things, that is not my account. I mean, he mostly re-uploaded images that I have uploaded, and notice the name, "NileQT87" = "NiveKJ13". Again, to explain my name...its Kevin backwards niveK, the J is initial for Jefferson which is my middle name and the 13 is for my birthday. Once again, I am not accusing anyone, I'm just afraid that I will be blocked for sockpuppeting again, similarly to what happened to me in Main Wikipedia just because somebody framed me. So to clear things now and on whatever happens in the future, that is not my account. Sorry, I seem to have been a little paranoid about this :)--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 15:38, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
  • I can understand your paranoia if something similar happened to you in the past...but I never for a moment thought that the two of you were the same person. Likewise, I don't think anybody is trying to frame you. Thanks for letting me know. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:32, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

Hey Ryan

Is there a page for a list of plot holes or loose ends that need to be tied up? --mc_hammark 19:12, 20 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I had plans on making one....but I've yet to get to it, (haven't exactly had the most free time lately) but would you be interested in making one...possibly with me?--Anthony Gooch 20:28, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Production errors. However, that page is more for goofs and continuity errors rather than plot holes. Too many so-called plot holes can be explained in a number of ways that it's best not to put them on that page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:10, 20 October 2009 (EDT)

Helping me out with an idea!

So I was just wondering, is there a special auto-updating template out there to give me the name of....oh lets say, every episode to date? If not then, it's all good, just thought this would be easier than typing all the episodes out.--Anthony Gooch 20:23, 20 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Would Category:Episodes help you out? Those are in chronological order. If you want them in alphabetical order, the code will produce a list for you. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:11, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I think I can just go ahead and type it out....it shouldn't be too hard. My idea was to list all the episodes and have the reasoning behind each title. For example: I'd have the header for An Invisible Thread and then I'd have a list of all the things that happened in the epidose that relate to it, like how Mohinder states we are all connected by an invisible thread, or how Sylar seems to turn Claire into his little puppet using invisible threads, or in reference to the ability of flight...ok, this episode in general may not have a lot of bullets to it, but it's a work in progress lol.--Anthony Gooch 23:39, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
      • I think it's a great idea (for a subpage)! I have always made a mental list of ideas for the application of the title's meaning. Let me know if you need any help! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:57, 20 October 2009 (EDT)
        • I think I and some others started a bit of work on User:Tristan0709/Title interpretations, so feel free to take stuff from that if you want to. -- Tristan0709 talk 00:53, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Whenever I come up with a new idea for a subpage I feel so bright and creative...but then I realize that there is always someone on the wiki that came up with the idea for the same page first lol.--Anthony Gooch 23:53, 21 October 2009 (EDT)

Administrators have a "revert" button that allows us to quickly undo all the changes a user has made to a page, so it's very easy to revert a vandal's work. It takes him about 5-10 times longer to blank a page than it does for me to revert it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:45, 24 October 2009 (EDT)
  • WAIT! Did you just say something about my pages? If so, what happened? ~~IHHTalk 20:46, 24 October 2009 (EDT)

Self

Hi Ryan, I've a question for you. I was going to create the page for Michael Dunitz, a location manager for Heroes and whom seem to be "self" for Heroes Unmasked (see here). I didn't exactly understand what means "self" in terms of production. After watching the related unmasked episode, I kindda understood it as him playing himself. (correct?) But anyway, I cannot make a sentence in English to express that in his page.

Michael Dunitz is a location manager for Heroes. He also is a self for Heroes Unmasked.

Can you actually say that!? Or better, please help me out about how to express that. I don't wanna create a page with funny sentences in it.

Thanks,

--Janrodrigo 05:05, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

  • If he appears in a video where he is himself (as opposed to playing a character), he is credited as "self". We don't even need to include that on his credits, to be honest. In fact, since it's a Heroes-related production, the most you would want to do is put it in the notes with a link to Heroes Unmasked. But really, you'll want to focus on his past experience as a location manager. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:12, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Thank you Ryan :)) By the way do you hint me that I'll find out some important stuff if I dig to his past as a location manager? --Janrodrigo 17:28, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
      • No, no hints. I've never heard of Michael Dunitz before you mentioned him. We just should focus the article on his pertinent experience rather than on his appearances in documentaries. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:36, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Ah, ok thanks :) --Janrodrigo 17:59, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

preference

Please could you tell me what to do in my prefences to add a signature50000JH 17:43, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

  • To create a signature:

1.) Create two pages. User:50000JH/sig (or User:50000JH/signature if you prefer) and then User:50000JH/autosig.

2.) Put the coding in the sig page then in the autosig page.

3.) Go to your preferences in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

4.) Click the box Raw signatures so the box is checked, and type in in the nickname box.

Is this helpful?--Catalyst · Talk · HL 17:52, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

    • That's wonderful. I also wanted to know that. Thanks :)) --Janrodrigo 01:58, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
      • So by doing that, would a talk page be automatically signed every time you edit it? Or is that just a replacement of code for the signature button at the top? --mc_hammark 13:38, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Photos

Hi Ryan :)

Me again, with another question,

How one can become sure about a crew member's photo if it's on facebook... What I mean that there may be many people with the same name and the person you're searching may not even have a facebook account or may have made it secret. Until now, even if I did found the same name in facebook, I added their photos only if a bunch of their friends were other crew members etc.

But can I got to be sure about him for example? I don't know if it's him, Donald R. Casella, the transportation coordinator of Heroes. --Janrodrigo 03:11, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

  • You can't be sure. I do the same thing, check for other crew members, or I just message them myself. When I send a message, I usually send a form letter that says something to the effect of, "Hi. I'm Ryan, and I am an editor at Heroes Wiki. I was wondering if you are the same Donald Casella who is (or was) a transportation coordinator for "Heroes". If so, I would like to work on a biographical article about you. Additionally, we usually use a photograph to accompany the biographical articles. Do you have a photograph you'd be willing to use, or do I have permission to use your Facebook photo? Thanks!" Something generic like that... But if you don't feel comfortable with doing that, I can certainly take care of contacting crew members. (It's much easier for me to say that I work for NBC than for somebody who doesn't...)

Regarding that profile of Donald, I'm not sure. I can't access Facebook from this computer. I'll check later when I get home. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:18, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

    • I wouldn't feel very uncomfortable, but I would prefer you to go ahead and take care of it. :) --Janrodrigo 18:20, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
      • No problem. When I see a new cast member, I usually take care of searching him or her out a bit. But if you have one in particular that you're not sure of, like Donald, just drop me a line, and I'll be glad to check the person out. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:57, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

"Heroes: The Official Magazine" Update

Hey Ryan, I have been working on updating User:Mc hammark/Magazine revamp, so that it includes the article titles and in order like in the magazine. I just want you to have a look at it and tell me if it would be ok to update the present one, because just now, it doesn't really feel like a proper page. Hopefully you'll like it and use it. --mc_hammark 10:48, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I think the page you've been working on is terrific. I don't see any reason why you can't update our current page to look like that. I know this might sound counter-intuitive, but please make several small edits rather than copying and pasting the entire page. In doing so, please also add an edit summary to explain the changes you're making to that section. The reason for that is because your page is a much better format, but there are a few mistakes here and there that might need to be fixed, and it's sometimes easier to spot those mistakes if the page is edited in small chunks rather than the whole shebang in one shot. Plus, that will be the best way to "recreate" the great history that you've created on your userpage, rather than just dumping the new stuff on top of the old stuff. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:32, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Ok, what I'll do is update it issue by issue and explain what changes i've made like added in article title and organized article orders. I'll get it done over the next couple of days. --mc_hammark 18:17, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Awesome. Thanks for all your work, mc_h. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:10, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
        • No problem ryan. All done. I take pleasure in it. --mc_hammark 07:56, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Stubs

Hi Ryan, I may be acting completely ridiculous, but I have a story line (G-N) and I have the word "STUB!" written on alot of sections in the pages for the characters or other like things. I would like a "Template:Stub" thing for myself, for that but I'm not sure how to do that. I looked at Template:Stub and thought I sorta knew what it was saying, but I think I got out of control. Can you please take a look here and see what you can do? Also, for the pages to link here..If I am being completely ridiculous, tell me. Or if what I'm trying to do is impossible, tell me. Thanks, ~~IHHTalk 17:43, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

  • You can just use the main stub template. If you use it on a user page, it will automatically categorize the page under Category:User Stubs. In fact, most people don't bother to sort their user pages, so if you wanted to, you could even sort them all under an unused letter (I suggest a lower letter). Or, you can just let them sort naturally and they will still all be grouped together (provided they all have the same beginning name, which it looks like they do). If you still want to create your own stub, let me know. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:47, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Well on the Category:User Stub page, there are alot there (or last I checked there was) and I kind of just want my own, if that isn't too much of a trouble. Is it? ~~IHHTalk 18:08, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
      • We don't typically create individual categories for user pages. However, if you sort all your pages under something unique (like a lowercase g), then all your pages will be sorted together, and there won't be any other pages in that lowercase g section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:12, 26 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Four things, 1) I don't know what you are talking about with "sorting"? 2) so what I am asking is impossible? 3) could I have that lowercase g list speacialized on my list of stubs page? 4) would no one else be allowed to sort under lowercase g?? ~~IHHTalk 21:20, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
          • 1) When you categorize a page, it automatically gets alphabetized on the category page by the title of the page. In the case of user pages, they get categorized under "U" since they all begin with "User". However, you can pipe a different name if you'd like. So if you manually type , the page would be categorized under lowercase g. Try it to see what I mean--that's probably the best way to understand it. 2) Nothing is impossible, but if you're asking me my opinion, I don't think it's a good idea to make your own category. I think it sets a bad precedent. Maybe that's just me, though, and maybe others have another opinion. 3) Yes. 4) I don't think many people know about categorizing, and certainly even less know about the fact that categorizing under a lowercase letter is different than categorizing under an uppercase letter. In fact, I don't think we have any pages (user or otherwise) that are categorized under lowercase letters--at least none of which I know. But if somebody for some strange reason decided to categorize under a lowercase g, I think you could ask them politely to change the category--I would support you in that effort, should it ever arise. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:35, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
            • 1) I will try that when I have free time. 2) Okay, thanks for clearing that up. 3) what would that code be? 4) Well then I think I might do that! Thank you for explaining this!! You're the man! ~~IHHTalk 22:31, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
              • The code is . -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
                • That's what I would put to list the "g" category on my "List of Stubs" page?? ~~IHHTalk 22:34, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • I don't know what you mean. User:Iheartheroes/List of Stubs is basically an empty page. If you would like to categorize that page as a stub, then you'll add that category to the page...or to any page you'd like to categorize as a stub. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:38, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
                    • I mean that how you can add a certain code to a page that shows your most recent contributions or the pages you have created. So is theere one to list the category "g" on User:Iheartheroes/List of Stubs? Do you understand now? I'm sorry I don't really know how to word it... ~~IHHTalk 06:58, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
                      • I use the code {#dpl:|createdby=Jenx222|notnamespace=User|notnamespace=Image|notnamespace=User_talk|ordermethod=firstedit} (with two ) This shows a list of pages I've created apart from user pages, user talk and images --Jenx222 · U · T · C 07:08, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
                        • Right, so what would the code be for what I am asking? ~~IHHTalk 07:12, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
                          • I believe you can simply add the Template:Stub onto the pages, then use the following code on your List of Stubs page: . This code will look for all pages that begin with "User:Iheartheroes/" and that use Template:stub. --Radicell 07:28, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
                            • So, are you saying that i add Template:Stub or stub ??? ~~IHHTalk 16:30, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
                              • Okay, what you're asking now is different than what you were asking earlier (or at least I understand it differently). Anyway, on the pages that are stubs, just add stub. Then on your "list of stubs" page, add . If you need more help, let me know. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:27, 28 October 2009 (EDT)

A psychic and a Sy-cho

Quick question...after this episode would you consider Matt and the psyche of Sylar to be an odd couple?...If so, would you consider Ink, where he uses Matt's telepathy, to be the first example?--Anthony Gooch 00:20, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Yes and no. Definitely some kind of split personality (though not in the way that Niki really had it naturally occurring--this was caused by a power). I think the first example of this was in Orientation, when Matt sees Sylar holding Matty. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:23, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Help

How does one do a fan series on the wiki? I'm sorta interested in doing one, but unsure what to do. --TrueBlueBrooklynite 02:50, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Well, there are no real rules for making your own series, other than it should be in your user namespace. That means that any pages you create should start with "User:TrueBlueBrooklynite/". Beyond that, it's pretty much anything goes, so long as you're not creating red links (however, red links that begin with User:TrueBlueBrooklynite/ are okay). But if you want to really go about it the right way, I would suggest you talk to some of the users here who work actively on their own fan series, like Iheartheroes, AgentJordan, Danko Radicell, Gabriel Bishop, or Laughingdevilboy. (I'm sure there are more, but those are the users I know have cool series here.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:12, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Is there any way to contact every user on the wiki?

So that I can leave a comment on their talk pages. I've just created a Company handbook and an aptitude test and was considering having a fun "do you want to join the new company" competition type thing, where users submit their answers and get to become an agent. So I need to know if there is a quick way to get in touch with them all to give them a chance, or if it is just a case of going to each user's talk page and making a comment. Thanks. --mc_hammark 08:19, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

  • You don't want to leave a message on everybody's talk page. That would take too long. But more importantly, it's important to remember that not everybody will want to take part, so really a message like that would be considered spam, even though it might not seem like it. The best thing to do is to leave a message on the community portal. Not everybody will see it, but the vast majority of the regular users do look at that page. Hope that works for you! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:47, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Clothes

Do we have an article about the types of clothes different characters like to wear? Like in season one, Sylar is usually wearing his black clothes unless he's "in character", or Tracy with her pearl necklace. If there isn't do you think we need one? --mc_hammark 14:03, 28 October 2009 (EDT)

  • No, we don't have an article like that. It seems like it would lend itself to some judgments, and I don't think it's necessary, personally. We do have some articles about a few items of clothing, like Tracy's necklace. However, if you think this article is necessary, I suggest you create it in your user namespace first. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:18, 28 October 2009 (EDT)

Keep an eye

Someone made an account with the name "Gabrial Bishop", which is only one letter different from "Gabriel Bishop". There are three options: either someone just happened to choose a very similar name, someone is impersonating GB or he forgot his password and made a new account. strange attractor particle

  • I couldn't find any reference to strange attractors as particles. What's your source? --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 20:32, 29 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I suppose you could read about strange attractors here, here, or here. I'm not a professional scientist or mathematician, and I certainly don't pretend to have a full knowledge of fractals, particle theory, or strange attractors, but from what I understand, it's a theory that applies to both mathematics and science. How many?

Generally I have noticed that, on abilities pages, there are 8 images in a gallery on the page, with a link to the examples page above in the "Selected Examples" header, does this mean that when there are 9 images of the ability it means an examples page is made for that ability? I was just wondering because I've realised that Clairsentience has 9 images but no gallery, where as others do, Thanks :) -- Leckie -- Talk 17:55, 31 October 2009 (EDT)

  • If there's 8 images in the gallery, that's fine (there can be an extra image as the lead image). We can also have up to 12 images in the gallery. (So 9, 10, 11, or 12 images in the gallery is fine). So the maximum # of images we can have on one page without an examples page is 13 (12 in the gallery + 1 lead image). Once we have more than 13, we should make an examples page. --Radicell 21:31, 31 October 2009 (EDT)
