the watcher
Hey ryan, you put the watcher under the category of carnies, but it's been stated by him that he's not one, he just lives there. Kinda like what claire is just now, she's just a visitor, not a worker (although I have to say, I actually enjoyed the direction of the plot of claire being a carnie). --mc_hammark 12:08, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- But he did do work for the carnival. He ran the ball toss game...even if he felt like an outsider and an observer. He still worked for the carnival for a time. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:38, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- First off, congrats on the baby! I have a couple of things about the Watcher. 1) He was not a carnie. He didn't run the ball toss game, he just used the game once to play one of his own sick games on Chris. He followed the Carnival around in order to destroy it. 2) Do we consider him dead, or alive? Your given a choice at the end of chapter 10, but it is debatable what the Bowmans would do themselves. You work with the iStory people, so is it possible to ask them? Once more, congrats! :) --Ratclaws 20:15, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- Thanks! My opinion about The Watcher being a carny--if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. He ran the game for a short time and traveled and lived with the carnival. But that's just the way I view it. As for his status of dead or alive, the only way I can think to address it is in the notes. Something like "In one ending of the iStory..., but in another ending..." should be fine. I haven't directly asked Zach Wilson, but I can. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:20, 2 December 2009 (EST)
- Hey Ryan, just wondering if you had asked Zach about the Watcher's status.--Ratclaws 21:37, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- The story really stands for itself...which to me means that it's really a wiki issue. I think the best place for us to talk about his status is in the Notes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:59, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- Ok, already done that. I was just wondering what Zach himself would think the Bowmans would do.--Ratclaws 22:07, 6 December 2009 (EST)

Patroller
Hi Ryan, wow - of course, I would adore to be a patroller. Thank you so many very many much :)) Only, there's something that worries me so I left a message to your facebook account. Thanks :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:56, 2 December 2009 (EST)

If you want to make me a patroller, it's fine. I'll probably be doing the same patrolling that I'm doing now and basically doing pictures, quotes, fixing little errors and adding little bits of information that I spot, etc... But I'm glad to be recognized for it! NileQT87 21:08, 2 December 2009 (EST)

Hi Ryan i'm having a little problem and i think you can help :), i just made a template for my talk page archives and want to put it in the right section of the page. Patrolling
Hi, Ryan. I'm a litlle confused about patrolling. I'm going to this page and the unpatrolled edits goes upto 29 November there. And there are so many unpatrolled user pages, user talks, talk pages and normal pages also. So what should be the priority, should I start with main pages first? Should I start from earlist possible or newest possible? Does all talk pages need patrolling? What do you suggest me? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 13:30, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- The priority for patrolling is main namespace pages. After that would be episode, graphic novel, webisode, etc. It doesn't really matter if you start with the earliest or the latest (but be advised that the older edits become "unpatrollable" after a little while, so it might be a better idea to do the older ones first). Talk pages should also be patrolled--you're looking for signatures on each post, no spoilers, and possible intimidating behavior. Hope that helps. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:59, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- Yeah that was great. Thank you :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 14:01, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- Ryan, one question again. If one main page has many unpatrolled edits in its history, should they need patrolling one by one or only the last one is enough? -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 14:08, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- One by one. That's the only way to patrol edits. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:21, 3 December 2009 (EST)
- Thank you :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 03:11, 4 December 2009 (EST)

Slow Burn, Part 7
Hello Ryan! I have a doubt about the webisode Slow Burn, Part 7, I noticed that at the beginning of the video, Lydia is watching some pictures of Amanda with another girl. Who is? Maybe Carol? Thanks,--TanderixUTCR 19:36 (Italy) 3 December 2009 (EST)
- Carol was her aunt, and is actually older than Lydia. The girl--and boy--in those pictures don't look much older than Amanda. They were probably just her friends. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:01, 3 December 2009 (EST)
Cloning
I don't know if you've noticed, but there is a discussion over here about whether Eli's ability is cloning or not. There are multiple things which make it unlikely to be cloning, but some properties that do. I myself wish to split the article, but I think it would be good if we had your input. --mc_hammark 05:01, 4 December 2009 (EST)
Ryan, Sorry to bother you, but there's a dispute broken out in the Cloning page about whether Eli's ability is the same as Cloning, or something else. Would you mind giving your opinion? You're rather respected here and so your thoughts will carry weight. I myself believe there is substantial evidence that the powers are the same. Swm 10:43, 4 December 2009 (EST)
- Thanks, guys. Not a bother at all. I saw the discussion, but I haven't read through it completely. I'm personally kind of torn between the two choices. It's obvious that there are some differences between the powers, but are they really different powers? I'd like to do a bit of research before I reply on the talk page. I'm also going to ask a few members of the crew. Hopefully later this evening I'll be able to weigh in. Thanks for asking--hang tight! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:56, 4 December 2009 (EST)
- Thank you very much. By all means read the discussion properly at a later date, because it's gotten rather messy. God, I miss the days when BTE could clear up problems like this...on another note, do you know why that stopped for Season 4? Swm 13:41, 4 December 2009 (EST)

A suggestion for NBC
I know that you have some connections with NBC Ryan, so I was wondering, is there any way that someone can send them suggestions. The main suggestion I have for them is about the webisodes and that I think (even if they make a youtube channel) that they should have some way of letting people outside the US watch these videos. If you could let me know a way of sending this suggestion to them I would appreciate it, even if it's just an email address. Thanks. --mc_hammark 14:10, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- TOTALLY agree that NBC should make something like a Youtube channel, so it wont cost them any money to stream video's from the USA to other countries. -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:13, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- Same, it gets annoying having to trawl through Youtube every time a new one comes out-- Leckie -- Talk 14:17, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- I can suggest it...but it's really more of an NBC thing than a Heroes thing. My connections are primarily with the people who create Heroes, not the bigwigs who make decisions at NBC. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:13, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- Well anything could start the ball rolling. The person you talk to could talk to someone higher than them and so on until someone says to someone at NBC. Anything you do is appreciated Ryan. Thanks :) --mc_hammark 07:20, 6 December 2009 (EST)

Character Updates
I've been noticing it alot lately. People are copying from the episode synopsis the information that applies to the person. See here, here, and here for some examples. I was told when I first came that it wasn't right to do that, and frankly, I see why now. If you look at most of the characters this season, most of the summary's on the character's page. Inculding the five minute appearing characters. The sections are way too big and it makes the page too big. Can you please do something about this? Thanks. ~~IHH—Talk 21:57, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- Sure. What would you like me to do about it? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:15, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- I don't know but I was told not to do it, so can you tell others not to do it? I don't remember who it was who told me but you seem like you can get the point across... ~~IHH—Talk 22:30, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- No problem. If you can help target the users who are doing it, I will gladly send them a kind message. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:03, 5 December 2009 (EST)
- I may be the guilty party here, I assumed hers and Claire's summaries were so similar I used some parts, rewording them. I was just trying to save time as they are so similar but I'll rewrite character summaries in the future, sorry.-- By Danko CH 09:20, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- So, someone needs to make the character updates again? That means that there should't be a X at the checklist for The Fifth Stage? -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 09:27, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- I'm pretty guilty about that aswell, for example when I tried to do Hiro's for Once Upon a Time in Texas, I was copying straight from the episode synopsis, and when I previewed it, it was huge, so I've tried to stop with that. --Leckie -- Talk 10:38, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- Well I'm not the type of person who targets a certain person, but I've just noticed that this season's summaries are quite a bit longer than previous ones I have seen. And I think the X still can go in the checklist, however we may need to edit some pages to make the summaries shorter..~~IHH—Talk 15:12, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- I've certainly done it too, especially when I first started editing, and especially with characters who only appear for a few moments. I mean, there's only so many ways you can say the same thing, right? But the tendency that I've seen also this season is that some editors are simply copying and pasting long passages from the episode summaries without changing much. It's not "wrong", I just think it should be discouraged, that's all. I don't want anybody to feel upset or guilty about it, either--but if we want a high quality wiki, it's important to have high quality summaries. So it shouldn't ever be looked at as a disciplinary thing, but just a tip to help improve one's writing. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:38, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- Thank you very much to both of you for the tips and bringing your advice to my attention. The hardest part about starting to edit is worrying about doing things right and constructive criticism really makes it easy to help in that regard. I really appreciate your understanding as I continue to learn but if there's anything else that must be addressed please continue to let me know because it's the only way I'll be able to be assured I'm not just creating problems. I really do want to help. :) Thank you again for your time. Shallon 20:29, 8 December 2009 (EST)
- No problem, Shallon. Thank you for your edits, and thank you also for taking my message in the light that it was meant. If there's ever any questions you might have while editing, don't hesitate to ask. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:04, 8 December 2009 (EST)

- Sorry to bring this subject up again, but if you take a look at Sylars page, it is pretty long. I realize that there are 17 headers, but Lydia has more and the page might be that length. The Season summaries are as long as the episode summaries. I will try to cut it down, but I was just giving a heads up. But the Season Three seems extremely long, but I was thinking that some of the stuff really needs to be in there, so that might be as short as we can possibly go.. Also, I've noticed on alot of pages, the "Once Upon a Time in Texas" and "Shadowboxing" updates are the longest. Thanks! ~~IHH—Talk 20:37, 19 December 2009 (EST)
- The point is to summarize. We want our pages to be accessible to people who are coming here for the first time, and we don't want to scare them away with an extremely long and detailed page. If they want that, they can go to the episode page. Feel free to trim the page, so long as the essence of the story remains intact. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:08, 19 December 2009 (EST)

Archive tables
Hi. I just archived my talk page and on it I made the link-to table-thing, but it isn't showing all of the tables. How can I fix this? ~~IHH—Talk 16:14, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- The maximum number of topics is 20. You'd have to separate it into different archive pages. - Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 16:19, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- I don't use jumps because I don't find them necessary. As long as there's a table of contents on the archived page, that's probably all that's really necessary. But if you wanted to, you could always put individual links in by hand--you know, the old fashioned way! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:40, 6 December 2009 (EST)
Talk page archiving
Hey Ryan, I would like to archive my talk page again, but as (I think) you know, I always fail quite epically at it. Can you help me please? -- Leckie -- Talk 17:47, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- Why don't you try it first, and I'll fix any mistakes you might make. That way you can learn to do it rather than just have somebody else do it for you. Cut everything from your talk page that you want to archive, paste it into a new page (called something like "User talk:Leckie/Archive"), and put the archive template at the top. Then, if you want, you can put a link on your talk page back to the archive page. Let me know when you're done and I'll check for any mistakes. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:52, 6 December 2009 (EST)

Bag and Tag season 2 archive
Last month, there was some talk about this. But, it looks like we all forgot about it. It doesn't make much sense to have, as what would be written as the season summery on the main bag and tag page? I was wondering what you thought.--Ratclaws 21:47, 6 December 2009 (EST)
- I don't think it's necessary to archive the page. It's not that long. The summary would be quite boring since it's not linear (like a character history would be). And now that the Company is gone, we really won't be hearing about bag and tags too much more...but that's just my opinion. If it's decided to archive the page, I wouldn't mind. But my personal opinion is that it doesn't need to be archived. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:52, 6 December 2009 (EST)

list of issues
Hey Ryan, you said that you have contacts over at heroes, and we have a lot of issues on the wiki as to what things are called etc. So, I was thinking, what with this season nearly being finished (written-wise), would it be useful for them if we made a list of some of the issues that need to be addressed, which would have most probably been addressed had BTE still been up and running. Would a list like this be useful or do you think it would not be worthwhile. --mc_hammark 14:35, 9 December 2009 (EST)
- You can make a list...but I'm not going to take it to all the contacts I have and give them my laundry list of things we need taken care of on the wiki. What I'll do is ask them things as they seem appropriate. For instance, many of the contacts I have are graphic novel writers--and I wouldn't really feel comfortable asking them things about issues in the episodes. Likewise, I wouldn't go to an episode writer with a question about the iStory, of course. That said, I also don't always think we should use our contacts with NBC simply to solve our problems at the wiki. But it would certainly help to have a list of issues and questions that I can pull from if I am speaking with some of my contacts. I can't always guarantee that I'll ask everything, or that if I do ask that they'll be able answer, but a list would be helpful. Thanks. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:16, 9 December 2009 (EST)
Facebook pages
Hey Ryan, I was just wondering what the policy was regarding adding links to personal facebook pages on cast and crew pages. I personally don't think we should link to peoples personal accounts unless we have their permission. What do you think? - Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 16:01, 9 December 2009 (EST)
- I agree 100%. Same goes for personal blogs (for instance, I don't mind having my wife's blog linked on User:Ryangibsonstewart, but I don't want it on Ryan Gibson Stewart) and MySpace pages. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:12, 9 December 2009 (EST)

Custom Assignment Tracker 2.0 question
Ryan .. is there a way to boost the format/size to the original primatech format found on the website? If I deliver you a high-resolution clean version? Or does that mean the html stuff has to be changed as well? if there's a simple way and all i need is create a bigger blank assignment tracker page, tell me how the trick is done ;)
it really works btw.. but it's so small.DarthYotho 08:49, 11 December 2009 (EST)
- I'm not sure what you're looking for. You can send me a high res version with a detailed explanation of what exactly you're looking for. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:49, 11 December 2009 (EST)
- The assignment tracker 2.0 script. Once you fill in your own informatie etc. I presume all the data is projected onto a blank-assignment-tracker-image right? What i was wondering .. if I want the text to be projected onto a bigger size blank image. Does the original script needs some changes? What i suggested was, that if it's to complicated for me to change it to a bigger image .. I could send you a high-res/higher size blank assignment tracker image in stead so that you can make the changes. DarthYotho 12:18, 11 December 2009 (EST)
- Or is it already the same size as it is on the official site, i thouht it's smaller cuz of pixelations etc.DarthYotho 12:24, 11 December 2009 (EST)
- The template uses screenshot images of the actual assignment tracker from primatechpaper. The size of the images can't be changed. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:09, 12 December 2009 (EST)

Volume Endings
I was glancing at the last episode of every volume. On Volume One and Volume Three say at the bottom, "Volume Two" begins here... and "Volume Four" begins here... . On Volumes Two and Four, it leaves out the link and quotations; like this: Volume Three begins here... and Volume Five begins here... . What is the correct way? ~~IHH—Talk 10:14, 13 December 2009 (EST)

Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall
Hi Ryan,
Last week today, they started airing Heroes Volume 5, here in Turkey, on the channel CNBC-e. The strange thing is that last week they only aired "Chapter 1: Orientation" and just now they aired the other part. You remember NBC had aired them together and without any script - between the two parts. Interestingly enough here, in CNBC-e, they called today's episode, "Chapter 1: Orientation, Part 2". And probably it was not something that CNBC-e did, because it was not a subtitle, the script appeared inside the fridge of Noah's home in Washington D.C., in the beginnings of the episode. And it was exactly the same script and style used for other episodes!
As far as I know, we use the title "Jump, Push, Fall" based on NBC.com and we had until now, no in-episode information about how the second part of the Chapter 1 was called, or whether there was even a second part or not. Because, there was no real point of breakage in NBC.
Well, here, last week, they finished the episode with Sylar holding Matty and saying "I want my body back!". Today they started with a "previously in Heroes" where they showed some of the last volume and mostly of last week's episode (Orientation), then they started with where they left off, the talk of Matt and Sylar with Matty in his arms. And with the next scene in Noah's apartment, they showed the title of the episode (or part, I'm not sure any more). It was strange. May be as NBC gave them the right to air, NBC could also have provided them with the episodes, the way they plan to put on Season 4 DVD. Who knows? Just wanted to fill you in about this. Take care, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:34, 13 December 2009 (EST)
- Thanks, Jan. That's great information! Can you get a screenshot of the refrigerator? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:26, 14 December 2009 (EST)
- You're welcome Ryan, unfortunately in Turkey we don't have the luxury of watching episodes onlines. But.. it'll air again 1 or 2 more times I think, so until then if I can find a way to watch the channel through the net, I'll definitely take a screenshot =) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 01:18, 15 December 2009 (EST)
- Excellent. If you have the capabilities, you could record it or burn it on a DVD, and then transfer that to your computer. If not, no worries. Thanks, Jan! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:42, 15 December 2009 (EST)
- I called CNBC-e and they told me that they never give away a copy of something aired, but I searched the net for a way of watching and recording CNBC-e online, and I found Sipru. I downloaded it and just now I've recorded the part that interests us. (It continues to air, btw, right now) It's little less than 15 MBs, how should I send it to you? Btw, I'll go ahead and screenshot where it says Chapter One: Orientation, Part Two, and add it as an image to the wiki. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 04:52, 20 December 2009 (EST)

Streamy Awards
Hey Ryan, I saw tonight that the Streamy Awards have opened nominations. The Streamies are for webisodes/web shows. It's one nomination per IP address per category per day, and those shows/individuals with the most nominations become finalists (see detail). (Note: You can nominate more than one show/person for a category each day, but not more than once in the same category each day.) I've noted this on the community portal too, but wanted to let you know there's also a form to help them get in touch with the nominees (see here) and I thought you could provide them with the appropriate rep. information, if you were interested.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:06, 16 December 2009 (EST)

Kendra Patterson
Hey Ryan, I've just checked her IMDb profile, and it lists her as two different things. It says that from 2006 - 2008 she was a casting assistant, and that this year she is a casting associate. I'm trying to create her page but I don't know which to put. -- Leckie -- Talk 16:47, 20 December 2009 (EST)

Adam
Why is it that Adam Monroe has a Season Three History page? He only appeared like.... four times. I know that he is appearing in the Graphic Novels but Meredith also appeared in Boom and she does not have a history page. What is going on? --William Strauss 01:19, 21 December 2009 (EST)
- I didn't create the page. I assume it was created because Adam just appeared in a Season Four graphic novel, and there are a few people here who seem to think that history from multiple seasons can't share the same space. If we put all the history back, that would make a page with 20 headings, which is not that many. Plus, most of his Season Three appearances are very short (just a few lines in the history). I'll put everything back (or at least the Season Three stuff for now). Thanks for bringing this to my attention, William. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:45, 21 December 2009 (EST)

War Buddies, Part 4
Hi Ryan, sorry to bother you with such an unimportant question, but is there any "Trivia" that needs to be on the War Buddies, Part 4 page? The reason I ask is because a) there isn't any and b) it is the only thing left on the checklist. But no rush, to respond, I just want to finish the checklist! :) ~~IHH—Talk 23:55, 21 December 2009 (EST)

- On the checklists, what does it mean by "Update video links"? ~~IHH—Talk 14:00, 22 December 2009 (EST)
- For each of the graphic novels, there is later released a few weeks later an animated video that plays the novel so you can watch it and not have to read it like a comic book. The animated videos show each panel individually for a few seconds and has background music. The links to the animated videos tends to change once in a while, so we have that in the checklist as a reminder to go back and check that the video links are working.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:59, 22 December 2009 (EST)

How?
Sorry Ryan, I d just finished reading the last novel (Bloodlines, Part 2) and no I realized one thing: how does Arnold to be so old and younger than his son. Thank you, --TanderixUTCR 16:38 (Italy), 22 December 2009
- You should read Bloodlines, Part 1. If you haven't read it, go do so now. If you have, I'll explain (spoiler alert here): 33-year-old Arnold went back in time to 1961. When he arrived there, Adam hit him on the head and made him forget his life from the present. So Arnold lived the rest of his life from 1961 to the present--that's 48 years. So he lived for 33 years from 1976 to 2009, and then 48 years from 1961 to 2009, making him 81 years old when he was killed. I hope that makes sense. If you need me to explain it differently, let me know. And there's no need for you to be sorry--that's what I'm here for! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:49, 22 December 2009 (EST)
- I think Tanderix asked how come Arnold was younger than his son.
AltesUTC CH 10:52, 22 December 2009 (EST)
- Ah. Because Arnold was 33 in 1961 (assuming he time traveled to Coyote Sands in 2009--which is an assumption I'm throwing out there for the sake of the numbers, not because it belongs on Arnold's page--it's still unclear what year we're currently in). So in 1961, Arnold was 33. In 1974, he was 46, and that's when his son was born. However, in the novel, Arnold was saying that he was born in 1976, which is two years after his son was born. He never says that he's younger than his son, just born two years after his son. In most cases, logic would dictate that he is younger...but in the world of Heroes, that just means he time traveled and got amnesia! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:57, 22 December 2009 (EST)
- I think Tanderix asked how come Arnold was younger than his son.
