need a page deletion
Since the reason I created User:SacValleyDweller/Possible Future 2, namely how to adress the new Possible Future presented in The Line, has been solved by Bob, I no longer need the page. Could it be deleted for me? thanks!--SacValleyDweller 02:35, 1 November 2007 (EDT)
- I'll take care of it.--Bob (talk) 02:40, 1 November 2007 (EDT)
- thanks!--SacValleyDweller (talk to me!) 02:45, 1 November 2007 (EDT)
need another page deletion, this time of all the pages in this section of my userpage, as they are no longer pertinate to any discussions, and they were products of slightly irrational haste. please keep the section though.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:46, 12 November 2007 (EST)
- Irrational haste, or enthusiastic contributions? :) The deletions are made. Let me know if you need anything else. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:58, 12 November 2007 (EST)
The Line caps
- I'm going to go through and get as many missing screencaps from The Line as I can. Apart from a ton of Powers images, and lead images for new articles and characters, is there anything in particular that you've noticed we still need? I didn't get to do caps Monday because I got a new Tivo and was getting it set up (screencaps in HD next week!) and then I was kind of sick most of this week. Speaking of, how are you feeling?--Hardvice (talk) 01:00, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- I'm sorry to hear you're sick. That sucks. I'm feeling much better thanks. Antibiotics and massages work wonders....Golly, I think the main stuff is done, except for powers examples.
- I guess you could check Category:Images to be Reuploaded, but that cat is pretty random and getting quite huge.
- And you know to check special:wantedpages to see any places (Odessa warehouse, Ivan's home) and items.
- It bugs me that Image:Adoptive muscle memory.jpg doesn't have Monica and the gymnast perfectly lined up, so I suppose that's something you could fix.
The fairly obvious product placement from Bob in New Orleans.Image:Bobpod.jpgBob demonstrating his power.Image:BobboPowers3.jpg- Is Bennet using one of the Company's guns? I forget.
- I'm not a fan of our image of Ivan.
- One of the banners at CVHS says "Save the ozone, save the world", I think. I'd love to see it.
- Check to see if the HD version reveals a name for the Costa Verde officer who works with [[Ray].
- Not a screencap, but if you're rewatching the episode, what song is playing during the drunk Debbie scene?
- Thanks! G'night! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:17, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Hardvice, I guess you're taking advantage of the Tivo service update that lets you pull content from the HD boxes? I was very happy to see that as I have only a Series 3 Tivo. (Admin 01:38, 2 November 2007 (EDT))
- It is awesome but slow. On a wired connection, a one-hour episode takes about 1.5-2hrs to transfer. I'm pulling Pushing Daisies right now to test it out and make sure I can still a)crack the DRM and b)get caps. Hmmm ... pushingdaisieswiki.com is available :) --Hardvice (talk) 01:59, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Man, I am really loving that show. It is so quirky and fun and just what I'd expect from Bryan Fuller. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:00, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Ditto. I just started watching it after about the tenth person told me "I can't believe you of all people aren't watching that!" Oh gosh, Ryan. I just checked the video quality of the transfer from the Tivo. One frame at 100% is too big to fit on my monitor and it is super-duper clear. I think I'm going to cry. Of course, I won't be able to start pulling caps until around/after midnight each week, but that's a small price to pay.--Hardvice (talk) 02:06, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Cry, my boy, cry. That's fantastic! I'm so jealous... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:07, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- THINK OF THE SCREENCAPS! Here's one from PD (no, I haven't watched that episode yet, so I just grabbed one at random). Bear in mind that PD is 1080i and Heroes is I think 720p, so it will be smaller, but should have less combing. This is going to give us much, much better screencaps without having to wait for an HD screencap site, and we can control exactly what we get.--Hardvice (talk) 15:06, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- ...And make more work for you. Fun. What's combing? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:02, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Think Spaceballs where Dark Helmet has those guys in the desert.--Bob (talk) 17:07, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Don't listen to Bob. Look at Ned's collar or the edge of his hand. See how it has kind of a stairsteppy, jagged edge? When you show a diagonal on an interlaced image, it gets that jagged effect because it's only drawing every other line. The interpolated screencaps don't correct it sufficiently. A progressive scan image displays all lines at the same time, so diagonals look more natural and less artifacty.--Hardvice (talk) 17:21, 2 November 2007 (EDT)

- pushingdaisieswiki, eh? I dont know anything about the show... is it something that'd be good for a wiki or were you joking? :) (Admin 02:29, 2 November 2007 (EDT))
- It doesn't lend itself particularly well to a wiki, no. But then again, I'm only two episodes in. Lemme catch up and I'll let you know.--Hardvice (talk) 03:01, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Not as well as a show like Bionic Woman, but it's a fun show with quirky little details here and there. It has the feel of a Tim Burton movie, but not quite as dark. It's very much like a fairy tale or a storybook for grownups. If you get a chance to catch an episode, I highly suggest it. It doesn't take long to feel the tone of the show....Plus, last week, Ellen Greene and Kristin Chenoweth sang a duet of "Birdhouse in Your Soul" by They Might Be Giants. Right there alone is worth every second in the world. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:48, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Pushing Daisies Wiki -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:03, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- I've been VHS-ing Kid Nation and watching PD online since they both air at the same time. Having seen all of the episodes, PD is definately lighter and with a cooler narrator than BW or even Heroes, but unfortunately PD is a one-trick pony and always deals with death. Also, its storyline is even more centralized than Bionic Woman's, so that makes it even tougher to document with a wiki, imho.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:09, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- "A one-trick pony and always deals with death" is also a good description of Six Feet Under, arguably one of the best shows on television ever. :) --Hardvice (talk) 17:22, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- I wouldn't know since I don't watch cable. ;) But so many CSI's+ER+Bones+Reaper+...I could go on and on... = I've seen enough death on TV recently. I'm not saying that I'm not enjoying PD, cause I am, but it's just that I think it's kind of doom-ed to run out of original storyline--show after show of solving murder mysteries... On a different note, one of my favorite shows was "Early Edition", which was a similar one-trick pony that did well for a while, but was sadly cut after the fourth season. Six Feet Under had the advantage of airing on cable, and despite the extra funding and how good it was, it lasted only five seasons (just long enough for syndication?). I think that Heroes and BW have the opportunity to become awesome franchises a la Murder She Wrote and Baywatch. My thoughts are that Murder She Wrote got it right in the writing and in travelling a lot. Baywatch had the advantage of excellent casting and being always at the beach (the "skin" effect). ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:54, 2 November 2007 (EDT)

Tomorrow
- I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Good luck and remember to keep the tv turned down so you don't get feedback! :) (Admin 20:41, 2 November 2007 (EDT))
- Thanks. I don't think I'll even have the TV on during filming. (Thank you, TiVo!) I have to say, I'm a little nervous, more than I thought I'd be. Should be fun. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:43, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Good luck to you in the filming. If possible, remember to turn off (or put on silent/vibrate) both your home and cell phones when filming. I'm sure you'll do great, and I'm hoping I'll get a chance to see you online, seeing as I don't have cable to watch G4 and I didn't get that chance when I came up there in person. ;) I also hope the writers strike doesn't affect you next week...--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:54, 3 November 2007 (EDT)

The Post Show
I'm on the site now. I registered, but I can't find the link for a video feed. I'm in the java chat room though, and am hoping for the best (that the link suddenly pops up in 15 minutes...)--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:45, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
- I'm trying to access the post show link, but http://www.g4tv.com/thepostshow/index.html is returning as if the page doesn't exist... that's the page for the post show according to the website.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:48, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
- I didn't get to watch it live since there was no online video feed, but Admin told me at least one of my theories in the chat room made it to air. Hopefully the video will get posted somewhere people can see.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:51, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
- I saw your name pop up at least three times. Send me an email explaining exactly what the problem was, and I'll forward it on to the producer. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:52, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
- Did my text look okay? I was typing kind of fast cause the chat room was being flooded with comments. BTW, that url I mentioned above is still not working. I'll forward you an e-mail in a couple minutes.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:58, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
- Your text looked fine. I can't remember what it said, but it was a theory about Kensei or Adam Monroe I think. Can't remember off the top of my head. Maybe I was too busy staring at Blair. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:01, 4 November 2007 (EDT)
- Hope you're wife doesn't get jealous, j/k. Anyways, I sent you the e-mail bug report. I think my theory about Adam Monroe was that he was a collegue of Chandra Suresh, oh, and that he was a leader in the form of Adam Kane from Mutant X. No one caught on yet that Adam Kane has directed at least two episodes of Heroes? :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:41, 4 November 2007 (EDT)

Post Post Show
- Nicely done, Ryan! :) Any interesting experiences or discussions we didn't see? (Admin 23:22, 3 November 2007 (EDT))
- Thanks. Nothing spoilery that you didn't see. Tim Kring had a stand in for the rehearsal, so everything I heard from him you heard too. The producers liked my shirt, though. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:50, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
- Haha... if they'd like some free t-shirts, just get their sizes and a shipping address. :) (Admin 23:53, 3 November 2007 (EDT))
- Actually, Japanimation was a huge help to me with lighting, set up, and all my tech stuff. Could you send me a shirt (size L) for him? If you don't have my mailing address still, email me....I asked if the guys at The Post Show wanted any shirts, but my message got lost in the IM process. I'll ask the producer directly. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:55, 3 November 2007 (EDT)

The whole Warehouses thing...
- I kinda made a mess of it. Sorry about that. Basically, I'd like to rename North Vegas warehouse to Las Vegas warehouse, but Las Vegas warehouse already exists, and redirects to Warehouse, which redirects to Warehouse (disambig). I think. Anyway, sorry about all the fuss, but could we delete Las Vegas warehouse so North Vegas can be renamed? Sorry again.... clearly I'm acting without engaging the brain today.-- Lost Soul talk contribs 07:41, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- Oh, no problem. I'm glad you're separating the warehouses. I'll take care of the deleting, but I'm pretty sure you can just remove all the text from Las Vegas warehouse and then move North Vegas warehouse. If you still have trouble, I'll delete the redirect to make room for the move. And you're doing a great job, don't worry about anything. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:46, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- I just took all the text from North Vegas, moved it to Las Vegas, and then made North Vegas redirect to Las Vegas. So that should be everything. Phew. Oh, and thanks a lot. I've discovered I really enjoy wiki editing, especially after an episode airs.-- Lost Soul talk contribs 07:49, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- Actually, a manual move like that is not preferable because then we lose the history for the page. I'll take care of it. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:50, 4 November 2007 (EST)

Screencaps
Hey, If you need any screen caps done I have the resources to do so with great efficiency and at high resolution. I also have another suggestion. Hulu, an NBC thing I think, has full length movies and movie episodes. I applied for an invite so I might be able to help you there. Just some suggestions!-- Japanimation 11:24, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- Thanks, those are great suggestions. You know I'm having trouble with my CD ROM drive right now. As an alternative, I know the episodes are posted at NBC.com, but the quality is not always the best. I tend to use a screencap site when I'm in a real pinch. I'm glad to know I can use you as a resource, and I just might take you up on that if I need. Thanks so much! Let me know what develops with Hulu. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:50, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- No problem! I am going to head to bed soon seeing as I have to get up early tomorrow. Later!Japanimation 12:03, 5 November 2007 (EST)
No, just pulling them out of Windows Media Player with a screencap program, They're also downloaded off the internet so the wuality is pretty good anyway. I am working on Kensei's corpse right now...--Japanimation 00:07, 8 November 2007 (EST)
- Not until I am done doing screenshots!--Japanimation 00:22, 8 November 2007 (EST)

Darthyotho
Unbelievable. I typed in "Phasing Effect" in google and found a video by a person who goes by the name "Darthyotho" on youtube. I looked around, couldn't find any contact information. I did a google search on his name, and found his name in YOUR archives, he's apparently a member here. I got his email in the same way, in your archives, so I'm emailing him, but this is why: here and here. His effects are ace! He'd a) make a great addition to the "Heroeswiki Heroes" cast of characters (I hope one builds up, lol.) and b) he'd be able to help me learn that phasing effect. I really hope he gets my email and comes back here to check it out.--Riddler 15:47, 5 November 2007 (EST)
- That's a good story. I hope it works out for you. :) Speaking of Googling, my mom Googled my name after The Post Show, and she was really surprised at the hits that were returned. She said, "Wow, Ryan, you really love Heroes, don't you!" Then she read some of my interviews and was finally convinced of my nerdiness. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:05, 5 November 2007 (EST)
Genesis
You know, it's funny. I still haven't seen the full episode of "Genesis" either. For some reason the bug didn't bite me at the time so I never saw it on NBC and I haven't been able to catch up online recently. But everything since I've seen in full. -- Riffsyphon1024 00:40, 8 November 2007 (EST)
- Heh. I didn't realize that was still on there--yeah, I've seen Genesis by now, but I know what you mean. I'll have to do some trivia updates at some point. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:14, 8 November 2007 (EST)
The interview is up
- Finally I got it up! Hooray. I've been so busy I just had time today. But nonetheless I got it up. I was hoping we could add a couple pictures of her but I'm not sure of how to do that. I tried to post the one on the Zeroes page but a weird box came up. Jason Garrick 18:02, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Great, congratulations, Jason! I'm just getting back from a funeral in Maryland, so I'll check it out soon, and then I'll look into the image issue. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:31, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Nicely done, Jason. Very fun interview. As for images, I have a few pictures Diana has sent me, but I'd prefer to use something you have. What exactly is the problem you're having with adding the images? I didn't see anything in your contributions, so I'm assuming you previewed and didn't save. Did you type "Image:" before the file name? Try posting it, and saving it, even if it makes a weird box. That way I can see if I can fix something. If you're still having trouble, just explain exactly what the problem is. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:58, 10 November 2007 (EST)
Nero and your DVD drive.
I left you a message on the discussion page of The Post Show, but I though this would be more direct. I have Nero on my computer[which I could bring over to your house] and I also have access to an External CD-RW drive. If you think you have use of either of those just tell me. I have time. --Japanimation 23:28, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Yeah, let's check it out and see if it works. Wanna come over tomorrow? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:29, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Sounds stupendous! I'll talk to my dad for a ride over. Hopefully no one will need the desktop for a little while but those chances are pretty slim, seeing as I have a dictatorial grip over it. :D --Japanimation 23:42, 10 November 2007 (EST)

No-break links
- I made a template that will make a link non-breaking: Template:Nbl. Since you work with navbars a lot, I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Basically, it just saves us from having to do all of that [[Graphic Novel:How Do You Stop an Exploding Man|Graphic Novel:How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?]] nonsense. You can instead just type {{nbl|Graphic Novel:How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?}}--Hardvice (talk) 00:34, 11 November 2007 (EST)
- Ooh, fantastic. You are a great ideas man. Thanks, Hardvice, that will come in very handy! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk)
- I try. I also added a section on the various link templates to Help:Editing since it's not completely clear how some of them work. Ditto Help:Tables of Contents. I think that's about all of the pointless background goo I've been up to since I last saw you (well, except for adding an internav template for GN places). :) --Hardvice (talk) 00:34, 11 November 2007 (EST)

I could use some help, please.
Hello I am new to HeroesWiki.com and do not know how to start one of those fan creations I have seen around. I would like to start one on the parallels of the legend of the Nine Unknown Men and heroes, but I don't know how. Also I have placed discussion thread about how I am looking for the Season 1 original promotional previews, the ones where there is just the eclipse and a character speaking, but no one has responded. I was hoping that you would have some leads. Thank you in advance for your help. Random guy 02:01, 11 November 2007 (EST)
- I don't have any leads on the promotional previews, sorry. :( To start a page, just create a red link by typing what you want into the search bar, or creating enclosing the title in double square brackets. For instance, click on this red link: User:Random guy/Nine Unknown Men, and begin typing. You might want to use template:infobox fan creation, but you're not required. The content is the most important thing. Please let me know if you need more help. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:05, 11 November 2007 (EST)
how does it look
So what do you think? Remember, I never did this before. Random guy 03:35, 11 November 2007 (EST)
- For your first article, it looks very nice! I haven't read through the whole thing, and I certainly haven't checked grammar and spelling with a fine-toothed comb, but it looks like you've organized the article very nicely. At first glance, here are a few quick suggestions: You might want to add some links, like to Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite, to the CBR interview, to some of the powers, etc. You might also want to give some references to your claims--Rather than saying "Charles might have an ability that relates to this discipline as well if his ability is prophetic dreaming," tell a bit more of what we actually saw in the episode, and then use a parenthetical site to support your theory. Don't capitalize "e.g." Your "Miscellaneous" section should should probably have an extra set of equal signs on either side of the heading. I don't know very much about The Nine Men. You gave some good background information, but you might want to elaborate a bit more; external links, especially to Wikipedia, are a good idea. You can also add a lead description--I would take off the heading for the first section, make The Nine Unknown Men bold (since it's the name of the article) and italicized (since it's the name of a book). Don't forget to italicize Heroes..... Generally looks very nice, though--well done! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 03:46, 11 November 2007 (EST)
Help:Portals
OK, I think I'm done-ish. Can you read over it and see what all I've left out? I tried to make it thorough without going into excruciating detail about every little eccentricity and variance from the norm. Portals, I've come to discover, are very, very hard to talk about in general. Does it make any sense at all?--Hardvice (talk) 05:43, 11 November 2007 (EST)
- I think it looks really good. You went into quite a bit of depth, without being overwhelming. It's much more exhaustive than Template:PortalEditHelp, and I think it's very well-organized. I'm not the best judge since I understand portals pretty well, but trying to look at it from an newbie's point of view, I find it easy to read and understand. It's also quite intuitive to find what it is I'm looking for. Nicely done, Hardvice. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:49, 11 November 2007 (EST)

Theory pages.
Just wondering what your thought on this would be. I was reading through a bunch of the theory pages... and I noticed one thing in common with all of them. Every time someone has a point in notes, they use a plus or minus for things that don't help the theory or hurt it at all. What I mean is, they words "could" and "possibly" are used alot. These words imply that it isn't a cold hard fact, thus it doesn't add a plus or a minus IMO and should be • instead of + or - . Hm?--Riddler 00:53, 12 November 2007 (EST)
- I'm not the best person to ask because I really don't look at the theory pages too much. In fact, when I check the recent changes, I usually tell it to check every namespace except Theory. But in answer to your question, you're right, people do often misuse the plus and minus templates when their addition is a simple note which doesn't affect the argument at all. If you see any of these, feel free to change them. Remember, theories do not "belong" to anybody, so don't feel like you're stepping on anybody's toes. If you see something that needs to be changed, feel free. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:57, 12 November 2007 (EST)

Miami noticed that my sig is now on the fritz and is now a wall of text. if it is here, help, please.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:31, 12 November 2007 (EST)
- I gave Sac a pointer to some instructions to fix it. He should be reading them now. In the mean time, I fixed his sig on your talk page.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:35, 12 November 2007 (EST)
- It looks fine to me, but there's a lot of text on talk pages in order to print your signature. Is that what you're referring to? A solution to that is to create a page called "User:SacValleyDweller/autosig", then type in {{User:SacValleryDweller/sig}}. Then go to your preferences and change the nickname to "{{SUBST:User:SacValleryDweller/autosig}}". Trading cards
- Was just curious if you asked all the individual artists whether we can display their trading cards here. Knowing you you already took care of it, but since I didn't see any comment in the image descriptions about their use here I just wanted to check. :) (Admin 01:35, 12 November 2007 (EST))
- Oh, geez, you know, I haven't actually asked all of them. I have permission from Tim Kring, Allison Sohn, Cat Staggs, and a few others, but I just got on a roll and completely forgot to ask permission. Let me take care of it. Thanks for the reminder. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:38, 12 November 2007 (EST)
- After they are officially released (I believe on December 31), do we need permission, or are they public? (I'll ask permission anyway.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:39, 12 November 2007 (EST)
- No problem. I expect most of them would be pleased especially if we add links back to their websites. If you don't have portfolio websites for each of them, feel free to ask them at the same time so we can include those links on the Trading cards article as well. As for after they're publically released, my understanding would be that we always need permission except in situations of Fair Use (which, while Hardvice could answer better than I, I don't think this could easily fall under) (Admin 01:43, 12 November 2007 (EST))

Other than that, it was perfect. Nice job. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:26, 13 November 2007 (EST)
The Post Show 11/17
- Are they rerunning the first episode this weekend, or will you be on a whole new episode? (Admin 12:50, 14 November 2007 (EST))
- Whole new episode. I'll be running a sort of debate thing with Lauren--we'll be talking about a few aspects concerning Adam. I told them that Lauren and I usually agree on most issues, but we'll take different sides for the sake of the show. I'm not sure how it'll all turn out, but it's a good step towards more interaction and interactive content. Maybe soon an interview will transpire? ... Plus, I'm going to see if I can somehow frame my signed Jason Badower print and put it behind me. The shirt, of course, will remain the same. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:53, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Electrokinesis
In the interview they did say "it's just plain old electrokinesis". THey probably refered to it as lightning because they did not want to spoil anything.
- Spoil anything? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Would you mind elaborating on that?--Ice Vision 16:07, 15 November 2007 (EST)
- I'm not sure what you mean either, but there's no point elaborating. Episodes trump interviews, plain and simple.--Hardvice (talk) 16:08, 15 November 2007 (EST)
- Right. Besides the fact that they may have been using the name given to them to clarify that the power did not involve magnetism, I don't believe they "named" the power. (I'm not sure the writers are really all that concerned with assigning the abilities names, anyway.) But even if they said, "Oh yeah, we like to call that power 'blue bolt'" or something, the episodic and graphic novel references trump what the writers say in interviews. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:34, 15 November 2007 (EST)
Zulia jesus.jpg
Do you want a picture without the episode text? I wouldn't normally have included it, but there was a request for the text specifically.--Hardvice (talk) 01:02, 16 November 2007 (EST)
- Yeah, that'd be good (though even with the text, the image is too good to pass up for the God article). Who requested the text, and for what purpose? I only ask because it's not being used anywhere else except on Zulia, and I don't think it needs to necessarily have text on that page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:06, 16 November 2007 (EST)
- I'm pretty sure it was requested for Zulia, and it was MeliPetrelli. Her concern was that, since Zulia is a state, it would be hard to get a good representative image. But I think the current one is fine. I'll just re-up JC, then.--Hardvice (talk) 01:26, 16 November 2007 (EST)

Hmmm...
- I was wondering, is there a way to use css to alter the toolbox on the left? I know I can create User:Lost Soul/monobook.css... and in that, is there a code I can put which alters what goes in the toolbox? Basically, I'd like to put a few links in there for myself... like the current episode talk page, and the image cat... stuff I need regularly, to save time. Just wondering if it was possible. Cheers,-- Lost Soul talk contribs 13:43, 16 November 2007 (EST)
- That's a good question, but I'm not really the best person to ask. I honestly am really clueless when it comes to css stuff. As far as I know, the pages in the MediaWiki namespace affect the whole site, not just your browser, but I could be wrong about that. A better person to ask would be Hardvice, Admin, or User:MiamiVolts--I think they all have more experience with css than I. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:45, 16 November 2007 (EST)
Hana text (Drucker)
My text message says Drucker. Also, the following http://www.heroesarg.com/main/2007/11/07/video-from-drucker/ and http://www.heroes-tv.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=44528 shows that it is DruckER. Template Issues
Yes, I was having problems with that as well, none of my previews worked so I just went with linking the interviewees names.--Mish(Talk) 12:10, 17 November 2007 (EST)
- The equals sign makes the template think that everything between the pipe and the equals sign is the name of the variable; because it's not the name, the entire section reads as a void. = is HTML for =, so that can be used instead. However, it's a kind of case-by-case situation--I ran into the same problem with some of the video links on Hana's website, but the code that worked for them was #61; (no ampersand). Go figure. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:23, 17 November 2007 (EST)

- By the way, did you ever send that shirt? I haven't seen it. I'm not sure if it's a problem with my PO box or if you just hadn't gotten to it yet. If you haven't, that's fine, no worries. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:57, 17 November 2007 (EST)

I've been always searching around here, for months, but just now I thought about create and account to be a part of HeroesWiki (maybe write some contributions in the future) and to watch some articles more easily through a watchlist. I'm glad to know there are fans here who rave about HeroesBrasil.org and thanks a lot for offering help in anything we need. I was also very happy when I saw I could use my name as my login, usually it is already taken, *g*. I hope we keep in touch!

- Select and cut everything that needs to be archived.
- Paste it into a new subpage, something like "Talk:Lightning/Archive 1".
- Don't forget to add {{archivepage}}{{tocright}} to the top of the archive page.
- Create a small table at the top of talk:lightning with a link to the archived page and the heading name of each section. Use this code:

Could we find a higher-quality version of the image? The current version isn't as 'soft' as the original photo (I don't know else to describe it).
If you enhanced the image, that may be why; JPGs don't save well. When they're modified the quality usually detoriates. Saving it as a PNG works better. --Cylon 13:16, 21 November 2007 (EST)
- The reason it looks bad is because I took a huge huge file (sent out by NBC) and tried to compress it. It was in image that was like 1600 px wide, and I tried to squeeze it down to 200 px. Usually, I get around the issue by shrinking big images to about 1000 px wide, then 600 px, then 400 px, then 200 px. But I think I forgot to do that with the Caitlin image. There's a few other image updates I need to do, too, which all come from promo images sent out by NBC (like a nice one of Molly, and another of West). Policy on Deleted/Extended Scenes
I was wondering what the policy is regarding deleted and/or extended scenes. I know a bunch were released on the Season 1 DVD, and I am curious about what went on in them. However, I also know that’s they’re not a part of the official canon for the series. I think they might possibly deserve a section at the bottom of the main episodes page, or a separate page. But the reason I bring this up… On the examples of flight page , there’s an IMO remarkably funny picture of West changing a lightbulb. The caption on the picture is “In an unaired scene, West finds his ability is domestically suited.” I’m just not 100% positive it should be there, because of the canon/noncanon issue. I have absolutely no problem with the picture remaining on the wiki, and all, I'm just not sure it deserves a place on the page it's currently on. So, what is the policy with things like this? --Spellingbee 20:27, 22 November 2007 (EST) and btw: Happy Thanksgiving!
- Generally, we have put any significant information from deleted scenes in the Notes section of appropriate pages. When an image is involved, we just clearly note that it's from a deleted or unaired scene. For instance, there's a great scene from Genesis which was cut; it showed D.L. at the Moab Federal Prison with the Symbol on his arm. To see how we've handled this, check out D.L. Hawkins#Notes, Moab Federal Penitentiary#Notes, and The Symbol#Unaired Scenes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:11, 22 November 2007 (EST)
- Ok, that's good to know. What's the verdict on the changing of the lightbulb picture, though? --Spellingbee 21:52, 22 November 2007 (EST)
- I added the image to the gallery. I think it's fine so long as it clearly says that it's not from an episode, but that it's an unaired scene. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:58, 22 November 2007 (EST)
- Where'd you get that image, just wondering?--Riddler 21:59, 22 November 2007 (EST)
- NBCUMV.com -- it's a promo image. They send them out after pretty much each episode. Oftentimes there are images from deleted scenes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:09, 22 November 2007 (EST)

Saving the World. THEY MENTION HEROESWIKI!!!!!
I was reading the back and they say that this is quote "When it comes to all things Heroes, the Heroes wiki offers thousands of articles that provide fans with answers about their favorite series." I thought it is so cool. I think that will mega boost the amount of users. So exciting. hooray. Also did you know that there is a heroeswiki link on the biggest Heroes facebook group? Jason Garrick 18:32, 27 November 2007 (EST)
- Yes, I've seen the link to Heroes Wiki on the Heroes Facebook group. Pretty cool about our mention in print! I'd imagine, though, that the book is marketed mostly towards diehard fans, most of whom have already heard of Heroes Wiki. But in any case, it's a very nice mention, and good to be validated in such a public way. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:35, 27 November 2007 (EST)

Regarding ellipses
What's the policy (that might not be the right word) about using ellipses in the picture captions? As I understood it from precedent, it was basically when someone has multiple pictures of the same incident, and wants to tie them together. However, I just went in and edited Examples of rapid cell regeneration, where someone had tied together all the pictures from each episode with ellipses. Do you have a preference for one style or another? --Spellingbee 01:45, 29 November 2007 (EST)
- The word you are looking for is 'Ellipsis'. If look at other examples such as lightning, you should only use them if you are tying multiple pictures together. I think what you edited was just a mistake. -- Seclusion talk / contribs 02:00, 29 November 2007 (EST)
- It actually is "ellipses" in the plural. As far as a policy is concerned, I don't think there is one. However, I personally tend to dislike the overuse of ellipses because it leads to run-on sentences. I'd rather have the sentences (when joined) be grammatically acceptable than have a hard-and-fast rule that all examples from an episode, or all examples from a given sequence, be joined.--Hardvice (talk) 02:18, 29 November 2007 (EST)

All these extensions...
- ... I'm seeing the changes made to Template:PortalCharacter and I'm wondering why... I always thought it looked good with the outlined box, and now it's been changed...? - The DPL extension allows us to manipulate the titles of an articles that are in a particular category. So for instance, we can take all the articles in Category: Guest Stars and Category:Season Two Cast and manipulate their names in such a way that we make a portal. (Check out User:Hardvice/Guest stars to see the result.) The beauty of this is that we would no longer have to do a million updates to all the guest cast portals every time a new person joins the cast. All we have to do is add the proper categories to the new person's article page, and the extension does the rest. It saves a ton of time. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:10, 30 November 2007 (EST)
- That's awesome. Thanks a lot for explaining it to me. :)-- Lost Soul talk contribs 16:15, 30 November 2007 (EST)
- The basic gist is that it lets us generate dynamic lists of articles -- for example, a list of all articles in a given category, or with a certain word in the title, or which use a certain template--and print them to articles and templates. We can do things like make navbars automatically include all articles in their category, print the last twenty updated talk pages (like I did on Current events), etc. We can even pull a list of articles that use a particular variable in a template--for example, a list of people who have "Las Vegas, NV" listed for "Home". It's way more powerful than we likely need, and we're still getting our feet wet with it, but the ability to create dynamic pages is pretty amazing.--Hardvice (talk) 16:19, 30 November 2007 (EST)
- It is pretty amazing. Like Hardvice said, it can be used on a very simple level or in a very complex way like for the new portal. Check out Current events#Active discussions or User:Hardvice/IMDb links#Cast articles without real-world images to see simpler versions of how DPL can be used. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:23, 30 November 2007 (EST)

Adding fair use to images
How do you do it? Is it the {{image-screenshot}} code that does it? -- Lulu .:talk:. 22:58, 30 November 2007 (EST)
- Yes, that's exactly it. You can also add categories using that template. For instance, {{image-screesnhot|Nathan=t|powers=t|Genesis=t}} adds Category:Images of Nathan Petrelli, Category:Powers Images, and Category:Images from Genesis. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:36, 30 November 2007 (EST)

Extension:DynamicPageList3 (DPL3), version 3.6.1: Error: MediaWiki\Extension\DynamicPageList3\Query::buildAndSelect: The DynamicPageList3 extension (version 3.6.1) produced a SQL statement which led to a Database error.<br/>The reason may be an internal error of DynamicPageList3 or an error that you made; especially when using parameters like 'categoryregexp' or 'titleregexp'.
